hi Stacy, welcome to LBT! like Edie said, this for me was the most difficult part of the process. i hated the pre-op diet! the only problem i had was i was SOOO tired after the surgery. i had it on a monday and didnt even feel like getting out of bed until Wednesday. you may have a problem with gas pains (i was lucky and didnt). i've heard the key is to walk walk walk ...

current & former super size bandsters - exercise
losingjusme posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
<edited on 18April to add that i have started working out and have just completed 40+ mins on the elliptical> good morning, i was wondering what exactly you all do/did for exercise when you were starting out. i went to the gym today and was on the treadmill for 10:23 and literally could not do anymore - i had an intense pain in my side. :faint:i am trying to go to the gym at least 2 - 3 times a week and my personal goal is to increase my time on the treadmill each time i go, but 10 minutes?? it seems so small. i did 3 reps of 5 for my quads as well but it took me longer to drive to and from the gym than it did to work out. oh - and i've gained 2 pounds since last Monday, so i need to start working out. i know pre-fill any loss is a bonus, but gaining??? any suggestions? thanks much! -

my Target goes up to a 28/30 (wonky size its usually 26/28 & 30/32, right??). but a 28/30 from Target fits the same on me as a 22/24 fits on me from the Avenue. Target actually has some really cute L/S t-shirts on clearance now ... they look pretty good ... i'm just excited i can fit in something other than the lane bryant catalog online (they are now going up to 7X). it's pretty cool being able to shop at "normal" big girl stores ... hopefully i wont be there too long ... -

i started 5'9" and 402 lbs. i think initially the weight came off quicker, but now i REALLY have to work at it to drop the pounds. i go to the gym 6 days a week doing cardio and strength training... best of luck to you! -

First Six Months of Lap Band: Average Weight Loss??
losingjusme replied to bwaydiva's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i wish i was male .... :faint: you guys are doing (have done) awesome!!! -
lifting will give you some tone, but i suggest getting some cardio in as well. just a few times a week. i think i started with 3 times a week now i do cardio 6 times / week and strength training every other day. except i take 1 'rest day' per week (same day every week).

Jessica, I feel your pain. i am retaining water like there will be no tomorrow ... TOM is coming, i just dont know when. in addition to eating crap (peanut butter eggs from Easter) i was up over 5 pounds last week. i just want to cry.
-
my motivation, dropping the pounds. i hated HATED any activity, but i knew i had to in order to lose the weight and tone up. i started on the treadmill for 8 mins then every time i went i added 2 minutes. i actually like going on it now. it is MY time to think about everything or nothing at all.. i recently pushed myself too hard and went too fast (4.4 mph when you are 313lbs is pushing it for me) and now have the beginnings of shin splints. so now i have to do bike (ICK) and the elliptical (UGH!). but it is getting me out of my comfort zone. i actually went for 21 mins on the elliptical this morning (the longest before that was just under 10 mins).. you can do this!!

current & former super size bandsters - exercise
losingjusme replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow, this IS a very old post .. i was only a couple of weeks post op here... i just had my 6 month bandiversary last week.. i am exercising. i work out 6-7 times a week for at least 35-40 mins a day. i have a personal trainer that i spend 90 mins a week with. she has really helped with the muscle toning. i am down about 90 pounds and cant wait til get to 100. -
i've never cared about hair and make up ... now that i've dropped some of the weight, i find that i will not go out of the house without at least mascara on. most days at work it's full foundation/makeup/blush/etc... what a difference.

Dietician said: EAT MORE!!! but HOW????
losingjusme replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
just remember that everyone is different.... when i wasnt eating much (maybe 7-800 cals a day) and not exercising my weight stood still ... not 1 pound lost. i started exercising but did not up my caloric intake, still no real weight loss (i was in a major calorie deficit). once i upped my cals and still worked out, the weight started melting off of me... like i said - everyone is different. -
Looking for a buddy to do the Body-for-life challenge
losingjusme replied to tonya66's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Tonya, you are doing AWESOME!! i wish i could do the challenge with you, but my body is just not ready for that intense weight training. i am, however, doing Bob Greene's Total Body Makeover (Body For Life 'lite') and enjoy it. best of luck to you! -
i'm going the wrong way ... **sigh** i am doing some heavy duty weight training and my trainer keeps reminding me muscle weighs more than fat, but still!!!! grrrrr. everyone is doing so well ... keep up the great work! Julie, happy bandiversary ... what an incredible post! you are an awesome inspiration!

hi cajuncutie, welcome. i started out a little less than you (402.5) and have been banded 6 months today. best decision i made for myself in a long time. but your decision has to be right for you noone else. do your research on all the procedures (obesityhelp.com is a great site that has forums for different surgeries). you will get people who were banded that say banding is best, and vice-versa for the bypass ... but it is the best for them. good luck on your journey. if you have any questions feel free to ask!

use this time to practice your chew chew chewing ... this is for healing. once you get 1 (or maybe more) fills it will be better.
