    wasabubblebutt, thanks ... i saw it here somewhere i think. or on some other message board somewhere. wish i could take credit for it ... it is so true ... at least that's what i keep telling myself as i am darn near killing myself at the gym ... :faint:

    i average 1200 - 1700 a day. it depends on how hard i work out that morning. i have been working my @$$ off lately and burning over 1000 cals a day. i cannot survive on just 200 cals of fuel a day. but everyone is different. experiment and log everything!! use fitday (free) or myfooddiary (i use this one, but there is a monthly fee) good luck!

  4. i was ALWAYS hungry ... or at least i thought i was. i am pretty convinced most was 'head hunger' though... :phanvan my highest weight was in the low 420s. that was several months before banding though. my weight for my consultation was 402.5 i am rarely hungry now that i am banded. a lot of times it is the 'head hunger', i smell something good from an office-mate and then am suddenly "hungry." a lot of times i have to remind myself to eat. my surgeon did not say i had to lose "X" amount of pounds, he just wanted me on his pre-op diet to shrink my fatty liver. i actually cannot eat lettuce with the band. one thing to keep in mind though after being banded your tastes do change. some things i loved pre-banding, are just not good to me any more.... my typical meal plan: b - cherry vanilla granola with skim milk. it satisfys my sweet craving. it is about 500 cals which is high for Breakfast but i work out in the mornings and usually burn at least 600 cals. snack - either Oh Yeah Protein bar (these are awesome!!), wasabi/soy sauce almonds or something small l - usually a healthy choice meal. i usually eat 1/2 - 2/3 of it snack - see above snack d - whatever my family is having. chicken breast, healthy choice smoked sausage, fish, burgers, you name it. protein first then veggies then carbs if you have room sorry to hear about your insurance .. that stinks. good luck and if you need anything else, let me know.

    hi congrats and good luck on being banded! i am a side/stomach sleeper ... mostly on my side but partially on my stomach at the same time if that makes any sense ... i was on my stomach 2-3 days after surgery ... it was really weird because as i would move, it felt as if my organs and everything inside of me was shifting, but once i got used to that i was great...

    slackaction, you can do some MILD walking now, do not push yourself. this time is for healing. then when you visit your surgeon in a few days, ask them when you can start exercising. congrats on being banded.

    Hi Virginia, I started about 20 pounds more than you and started slow at the gym. looks like you are way ahead of me there ... there was NO WAY i could do an hour of anything until just recently. as for the elliptical ... it was truly my nemesis ... i went on here and there and was able to last MAYBE 8 minutes at a time. but i finally sucked it up an dchallenged myself for 15 mins. i went for 15 mins and 1 second and got off that stupid machine as quickly as i could. i then looked at my heart rate monitor and discovered i burned almost 300 cals in 15 mins!!!! whoa baby!! yesterday was my all time 'record' i was on that stupid machine (we have a love hate relationship) for 45 mins in the morning and then went again for 60 mins in the afternoon. i burned almost 1800 cals yesterday!!! (was on the bike and strength training as well).. sooo ... to make a long story short (is that possible??) the elliptical is a brilliant work out but it takes some getting used to. make sure you adjust the incline and resistance down to 1 if that is an option (my gym's machines start out w/ a 10 incline - youch!!). go for 2 mins the first day and then just steadily increase your time. you are doing very well!! keep up the excellent work!!

    Plateau's Somebody talk to me

    yikes, so sorry about your plateau. i am assuming you've mixed up your eating and exercising? ie - eating, 2 days eat "X" cals, 1 day eat "X+150" cals, go back to eating "X", then "X-100", then X+150, etc ... mix it up. make your body wonder what the #*@& you are doing to it. same w/ exercise, 1 day go for 30 mins cardio and weights, the next do 50 mins, then 20 then 40, etc ... your body gets into a routine and just "settles" have you had your metabolism checked lately? good luck
