Shannon, sorry about your high BP. you may just have to suck it up and make time. i couldnt find the time either, so i get up at 420 each morning and go work out. before, i would crawl (begrudgingly) out of bed about 615-630 ... major change, but the exercise has helped SOOOOO much. good luck. -

chickatee ... oohhhhhh ... sooooooo close!!! you can do it! -
i personally just did not care for it. i thought it was too limited in their equipment.

that sounds about right ... every surgeon thinks they are right... that's why we always suggest to follow your surgeon's guidelines. you'd think that allergen would come up with a set of guidelines for everyone to follow ... **shrug**

not necessarily a 'Protein drink', but i love Atkins Caramel Latte shakes. they do have 15 gm protein and 4 gm total carbs. throw it in the freezer for about 20 mins and tastes like a Starbucks frapp

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
losingjusme replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi apple, thanks.. when i was first banded (i did not move before banding - exercise? why bother?? ) i went for 8 minutes about 1.?? miles an hour on the treadmill. every time after, i increased another 2 or more minutes. i was finally able to go 45-60 mins on the treadmill. after doing that for several months (at an incline) i did get shin splints so i transitioned over to the elliptical which i have a love / hate relationship ... i started on the elliptical for 3 minutes and gradually built up again. i can now do a 9 minute mile at a resistance of 5 or 6 and can go for 60 minutes if i absolutely must. i do burn tons of cals on that stupid machine. i just push myself to do it. i am reeeeeealllllly superstitious so my miles cant equal 13 - either alone or combined - so that helps push me a little more. it looks like you are on the right path, you can do this. take it in 2 minute blocks. push yourself but not too hard initially. -
as of this morning, i am at 224.6 miles in my August challenge. my goal was 220. i wasnt sure if i was going to make it or not, i am still kind of sick with bronchitis and an upper resp infection, but i just took it one mile at a time this morning and i made it. 2 more days to see how much farther i can go.

congrats to both of you! :clap2::clap2:

What is going in with my body!
losingjusme replied to darknlovely3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
solids 3 days after banding? never heard that be approved by a doctor. are you sure you should be having anything other than liquids? -
ok - each surgeon is different, i just didnt want to encourage you to eat out of your 'stage' if you had pain, you may want to do liquids for 24 hours (i do after i have pain and PB). make sure it is reallllllly pureed and maybe add some chicken stock to it to make it more moist. or mayo w/ tuna. remember keep your Protein up. if you are unsure how much protein you should be eating, contact your surgeon's office. good luck.
-
JP, should you be on mushy / solids now? if not, please PLEASE recondsider going back to liquids only until your doctor gives their OK. that may be why it hurt. you are in what is known as bandster hell. do a search on it and you will find several posts. this will pass. good luck.

you've lost 10 pounds ... how many inches ?? -
jmcambra, thats the best thing about goals, we can just keep trying to achieve them... and when we hit 'em, we try to go longer / harder ... you will do it!
-
thanks Deanna, nope ... ***sob*** no PM ... **sob sob**

last time i looked unless an egg was raw, it was not liquid. i STRONGLY discourage anyone from "eating" when on the liquid stage. yes, i may sound mean or harsh or bitchy, but the surgeon says LIQUIDS ONLY for a reason. your stomach should not be 'working' to digest anything right now. it needs to anchor those stitches in place. really!! and yes, it does get better.

Jonathan, great job breaking through that plateau!!!
