    couch to 5k

    i have not started yet. i plan to start Monday (the 15th) and do M - W - F running. right now when i run, i walk for a few mins then run (5.0-5.2 mph) for 60 seconds then walk for 120, so this will really be a challenge to only walk for 90 then run again for 60. i will more than likely be repeating weeks, i will not push myself to the point of injury... i love that quote too. i found it off another board. it's so true!! :cool:

  3. whoa - how is that for a long thread title? :Banane30: after my 'break' (aka - i am not doing well and thought i could handle it on my own), someone mentioned in a PM to me that there should be a struggling thread ... i do not see one although i am about 1000+ posts behind, so i thought i'd create one.... the intent of this thread is not for people who are relatively newly banded to come here for support thru bandster hell. i am sorry if that sounds harsh, but there are TONS of threads out there with people being banded for a month or so and being so hungry they want to chew off their arm.... so here goes. my name is losingjusme and i have been banded a year (i cant believe it's been a year!!!) and the past month i have really been having a difficult time with my eating. what's the problem? ummm, i love to eat... sweets in particular. i 'celebrated' my bandiversary Tuesday with ice cream ... :omg: i just thank god that i worked out long and hard or my weight would be up about 10-15 pounds ... (nope, wasnt just that one night of ice cream)... anyone else having problems? any long term bandsters have any words of wisdom?

    oh god, guys ... i am embarrassed now ... **blush**... i havent been doing very well lately ... i can preach it but wasnt practicing .... i feel like a complete and utter fraud. :cry i just had to take a break for a bit (and yes, i did disable my blog to everyone but me - i did update a few times) ... i have no idea why i though i could do this better on my own... :think thank you ALL so much for your PMs and your comments here. i truly appreciate it. so what's been going on? well, i've been losing the same few (4-6) pounds for the past month ... right now i am smack dab in the middle of my 6 pound "up" ... if that makes any sense. i have been working out like a mad woman (yes, even running) which i think has been my saving grace cause i probably would have gained at least 15 if i wasnt working my ass off. i did have my bandiversary (celebrated with ice cream :Banane30: that day and a brownie ice cream thingy the day after )... but today i am on track. i am going to eat AT HOME tonight ... no garbage ... i am going to do this one meal / snack at a time. once again, words cannot express how incredibly touched i am... i really appreciate you ladies (and gentlemen ) ~Christine

    I ran!

    yup, I did it 11 mins total on the treadmill (then elliptical/bike) 4 bursts of 35-45 seconds each 4.6-4.9 mph really sweaty and somewhat winded it was incredible
  12. no no no ... not that wee ... the Nintendo Wii. DH and I finally found one a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it!! the one we bought comes with the Sport Pack and has Tennis and Boxing (bowling, golf, etc too.) according to my body bugg, i burn anywhere from 9 - 15 cals a minute while doing the boxing. (to compare - i do about 7-9 cals / minute on the elliptical / bike) it is an amazing workout and i recommend it highly.

    charley horses ...

    anyone experiencing charley horses in your legs at night? mine have started up again and i know they should 'eventually' go away, but it's been about 3 nights now and my left leg is sometimes unbearable. any hints or tricks you can suggest? my work out usually consists of elliptical / stretch legs / bike / stretch legs do i need to spend more time stretching? i usually do about a minute per leg if that. thanks

    i personally do not like the watch band. the device can be detached from the band and has a little clip. i normally clip it on my shirt or put it in my pocket. BE CAREFUL though. i dont think it would like being washed... attached is a (crappy) picture. it is on my left side you can kinda see it a bit...

    I'm not... it is such a crappy day.. i am PMSing so horribly and all i want is chocolate and all kinds of garbage that I do not need. I have been craving carrot cake (yup, again) for 2 days. I am in such a bad place right now. its never been this bad before. :help:

    Running

    my personal opinion, 3 weeks is too soon to be running and it looks like your body is telling you the same thing. maybe ease up a bit and try again in a couple of weeks. your port is the place you want to be really careful. it is stitched in a muscle and you want it to heal well. congrats on being banded.

  20. hi Shelli, that is one thing you can ask the gym or trainer. i, personally, started training when i was about 385ish. just make your concerns known and know that the trainer is working for you. i've been really lucky with my 2 trainers (one moved away). good luck!

    i agree with BBK and Jack. why wait? think of how much you could lose by Christmas! i was banded on 10/9/06 and was able to eat a little bit for Thanksgiving. it was nowhere near the gorgefest of the year before that! best of luck to you.

  25. congrats on smashing your plateau!! i agree, my personal training sessions are the best because i dont have to think about it, she asks, i roll my eyes, sigh heavily :car: and do it ... LOL
