    ok ... you are going to call me an ignorant American ... but, TJ - how safe is it there? would i want to spend 1+ weeks there w/ my DH and possibly DD ?? i think i need to drop to about 199 before i even start thinking about the LBL... **sigh** so much more to go.

  5. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO ... no. this is YOUR workout.... and really truly not a competition with anyone but yourself. IF you feel you can go a tad faster, build up to it, but do not get injured (like i did - although i'm just a klutz, it wasnt running related)..

    Rain, can you put the real young ones in the stroller and take a nice walk? i walked w/ my dog last night after work and burned about 300 cals in 40 mins. it was good and got us out of the house. i think i may do it tonight with my other one - although he is quite high strung
  7. i am walking at 3.6-3.7 usually and jogging up to 4.4. i was advised by some of the serious runners on the board (jachut and JulieNYC) to S-L-O-W it down when i was doing 5 MPH. JM - how is the HRM working for you? glad you found one! i am taking today off. i am really really sore after my tumble last night. i guess i will do Thurs and Saturday for my remainder runs.
  8. JM i only wear the strap when i am working. you may want to put the HR watch/strap around your sports bra strap. i am supposed to run tomorrow, but i tripped tonight ... i am SUCH a clutz. i am ice-ing up right now, hopefully i will be OK for tomorrow.

    i am really late on responding to this (just saw it, sorry)... but my answer is ummm.. not only no but ummm ... uckfay no ... you are a total inspiration to me and so many others. i look at where you started and where you are now and can really think that i can do this... you rock!
  12. meeg - congrats on being banded!! YAY! definitely wait a couple months for the couch 2 5k program. other stuff, call your surgeon and see what they think. i started 2 weeks after with walking (very short, very slow). whos - i cant believe you find time to sleep ... sooo jealous! :mad:

    I don't understand (goal weight rant)

    Ghost that's a great site. i have no idea what i want my ultimate goal to be. for now i am working in 'mini (obtainable) goals' ... my next goal is 235 pounds. then my next will be 199 (start looking into plastics) then ???? i have my goal listed as 180 but dont think that is low enough. i am 5'9" and think i could drop as low as 160-165 and look pretty good. i'd LOVE to weigh less than DH but i dont think that's going to happen... but that's OK

    Eating rice - why is this difficult?

    Rice tends to expand in your tummy. you eat 2 tablespoons and are satisfied, it expands and you are miserable. i was ok with rice until my last fill. dont want to go through that again. miserable!

    i dont use my display thingy much either. i used to use it while i was working out to get a feel for things, but now i am concentrating on working hard and dont want to lose that concentration and look at the display. silly i know ... :mad:

  20. i have a polar f11 (? to the model) and it calculates cals burned. i love it!!
  21. JM, i dont trust the cals on the machines. i either use my body bugg or my heart rate monitor. i got on the treadmill yesterday and it said my HR was 52.... ummm ... dont think so.
  22. i LOVE LOVE LOVE running! OMG .. i just logged my body bugg info for the time i ran and at my peak, burned 15.7 calories a minute!!
