What would you do to deal with a weight problem if you couldn't have WLS?
losingjusme replied to RainyDay's topic in The Lounge
i dont think it's hopeless.. its something she could discuss with her doctor. personally, Medifast may get the weight off, but will she be able to keep it off? maybe go for a more healthy lifestyle ... not a diet per se. -
Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
losingjusme replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i voted Unsure cause there isnt a "no" option. i have considerably less gas post-band. hiccuping on the other hand. that is my signal to not take one more bite... runny nose is my 'soft stop' a hiccup is a STOP NOW. -

**sigh** that's a tough one. to be honest, i'd probably still be fat. i dunno what i'd do, focus on moving more. eating right?? but pre-band, eating right consisted of anything and everything i could get my hands on. good luck with your surgery. best of luck to you and your mom. -
are you having a hernia repaired as well? i dunno about the UK, but in the states, it is not legal for them to ask WHY you had surgery... maybe you have some kind of growth you need removed (ahem, tummy )

February/March 08 plastics
losingjusme replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
i know Karey... i have a feeling we're going to hear crickets chirping it'll be so quiet in here ... hopefully i'll feel OK enough to at least log on w/ my iPhone. i cant imagine having a laptop post surgery!! -
thanks for the Atkins info.. i normally dont stick with it long enough to hit the stall  going to try for the next 15 days to do it unless my PS says NO... as for the amputation ... i'm working on that :tt2:
-
Wheetsin, how come you always make perfect sense?? ok ... i will ask DH to keep the scale in his car. i will not be weighed until my tuck on the 29th. oh boy, this is big... i've restarted Atkins (yet again) and i am obsessed with the scale while on Atkins, cause i usually drop about 5-7 pounds a week and it keeps me motivated. this is going to be really difficult.
-
i've given running outside a try twice ... hated it ... felt like everyone at the park was commenting "look at the fat chick try to run" ... so i stopped and do it on a treadmill now...
-
oh good gracious NO WAY ... i mean he knows what i weigh now (in a round about way), but no way ... nuh uh...
-
but .. but... but.... i guess im afraid i will lose control when i dont weigh myself. happened last week. i refused to step on the scale cause i was eating all the wrong things ... i gained ... oh boy...
-
unfortunately, the beast affects my mood like no other. i try to stay off of it, but its a compulsion of sorts. if it goes down, i'm elated... up and im pissed for the day. i really need to work on this...

Paperwork being sent in NEXT WEEK!!!
losingjusme replied to krazygrl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi Jess, this is a crazy/exciting time. read all you can around here. LOTS of good information! i, too, had UHC and the approval process was not difficult. -
hi dolphin, welcome. can you give us an example of what you are eating / exercising? that may help us help you... :scared2:
-
and dont forget ... liquids in, more than likely going to have liquids out.
-
i started with 5 and now am using 8s
-
i wouldnt necessarily go by the 1/2 cup to 1 cup... dont force it. if after 5 bites, you are no longer hungry, stop eating. give it about 2-3 mins. still not hungry? you are done. i usually take a bite, chew until i can no longer chew, swallow and then a minute or so later, take another bite. take your time. that 'full' feeling for me is misery.

Help me use my Isopure clear
losingjusme replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
milk, maybe a bit of juice? there are some sugar free syrups out there (made by DaVinci) that are pretty good. mix it with ice in a blender to make it a shake. i have a difficult time with some Protein shakes too. i know there are some retailers that sell sample packs, maybe try that? -
