Amy, so sorry your feeling down. glad you got such a great reaction from your DH though!! and dont worry about who's on or off their pain meds, everyone's journey is unique... you had a heck of a lot of work done. enjoy your vacation! -

Considering Lap Band
losingjusme replied to theevans716's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
the lap band is truly a great tool for weight loss. but it has to be used as that - a tool. it will help your hunger once you have reached proper restriction (may take a couple - or more - adjustments / fills). i was out a week from my desk job. could have returned in 4 days, but decided to just stay out and rest as much as possible. my suggestion, read the posts here. you will get a TON of information. they say people generally lose 50-60% of their weight they should lose, i disagree with that. there are MANY MANY on here who have shattered that. i say 100% of excess weight lost is not impossible at all. but, like i said, use the band as a tool, not a cure all. eating right and exercising must become habit. good luck on your journey and welcome to LBT. -

Kareyquilts TT, BL, Lipo & BA
losingjusme replied to kareyquilts's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
yay Karey... ya poo'd ... **grin** LOL ... that's actually a huge accomplishment! sorry your swelling and bruising. what kind of compression garment are you in? is it a binder or something else? my swelling finally started goign down when i took off my binder and started wearing my other garment (under the girls to mid-thigh). how is your pain level going? any itchies yet? hopefully you can avoid that step!! IMO, that's the worst of it. you getting around OK? in/out of bed any better? C -

Nurseamy's tummy tuck/Lipo/Mastopexy
losingjusme replied to nurseamy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
yeah, karey, im concerned about the lipo too.. nina said it was the most painful part and i've had very minimal pain there (wondering if they even did it - if it werent for the bruising i'd really wonder)... the only discomfort i have is the intense itching now. as in wake me up at 3am and itch so horribly i wanna keel over... if it weren't for the itching, i'd be about 98% back to 'normal'... been working on my walking, drove alone today (had DH with me yesterday) and went shopping. how are you feeling today Karey? amy - have a fabulous, relaxing vacation! -

Will I end up needing cosmetic surgery?
losingjusme replied to Brinabrina77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i think it depends on several factors: your age how long youve been obese how much fat you have in area x (tummy, thighs, etc..) general condition of skin etc... for me it was pretty inevitable. ive been big since i was 10 and 85+% of it was in my tummy area. good luck. -
hi, i had an extended TT (with muscle repair) and mega lipo to flanks, back and tummy. i had my surgery on Friday 2/29 and will be returning to work 1/2 time this coming Monday 3/10. so Friday and a week off then 1/2 time the following week. not sure how its going to work out, if i cant do 1/2 time, i'll take the rest of the week off. if the 1/2 time is fine, i'll do full days... long reply to a basic question, sorry.

karey - yeah, DH was not enthused with me stopping the pain meds either... guess he preferred me all doped up ... itching started very minimally Thursday (just a bit in the lipo areas) and got very VERY aggressive Friday. sucks cause i know i really shouldnt scratch cause my incision is still somewhat scabby, but grrrrrr.... itch itch itch... i think im goign to get some benedryl tonight. my bruising was quite bad and is finally starting to fade. i did not take any bromeline (sp?) or arnica. -

VERY disheartening that you are still itching. it is driving me BONKERS!!!!!!!! I've been about 7 hours since I've scratched, I thought not scratching would somehow help... any US people use Benedryl? did that help?? I realy am going bonkers here!! I'm going back to work next week for 1/2 days. more if I can handle it or not at all if its too much. my boss has been great!! ok, going to the gym to watch DH work out, not my idea of fun, but I need to get out of the house. -
best thing for gas is to walk walk walk.... it will go away, sorry - no specific timeline. good luck!

I'll chime in here as well... not selfish at all. it is a lower risk surgery and your kids will reap the benefits. imagine getting up and down (with ease) off the floor, running and playing with them for hours.. not being the mom who can't do X cause she's too big... thats part of why I did it. and to be around for longer... at 402.5 lbs I probably wouldnt have been around to even see her graduate from high school. congrats on a date!

crystal, thats wonderful!! it will be here before you know it!!!

Hello, trying to get started on the path...
losingjusme replied to SilentBob's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
welcome to LBT. sorry about your back and knee, I think exercising will be made easier once you start losing weight. but even walking will help. banding is one of the best thing I've done for myself. good luck. -
hi... congrats on being banded. bloat is completely normal, they pump you full of gas when they operate. you may also be having 'gas pains', thats normal too.
