before getting my band, i didnt even think about exercising ... my DH would drop me off at a shopping center, go park and meet me at the entrance ... i would ask him to get up off the couch that i was sitting on and get me something to eat/drink ... so exercising on purpose ... nope, didnt happen. as soon as my surgeon cleared me, i got on a treadmill for 5 minutes, was exhausted, but next day, increased it to 7, then 9 ... i now run, go on the elliptical, step classes, you name it ... it (eventually) gives you this euphoric high... experiment... dont let anyone (except a doctor of course) tell you that you cant do anything.... at 380/390 pounds i was doing a step class ... it kicked my rear and i didnt always step up just stepped in place, but it got me moving. best of luck to you!

February/March 08 plastics
losingjusme replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
hi, congrats on your surgery date... not sure how much pain i would have had without the muscle repair, but with it ... ehhh... not excrutiating, but it was there. i opted for the pain pump and glad i did. i had surgery on a Friday, took a few doses of the pain meds Fri & Sat and my last dose was Sunday night just to knock me out. as soon as i found out i could have tylenol PM, that was all i needed. nina will tell you the lipo hurt worse than the tuck, my lipo didnt really hurt much at all... sore from the bruising but no real pain per se. i have found that those are the incisions that itch like crazy!!! and not much helps the itching. benedryl sometimes but that makes me loopier than normal, so i can only take it a few times .. one hint i have for you - get your quads/thighs and arms in the best shape possible. do squats like there's no tomorrow cause it really helped me ... specially getting up and down from the bathroom. not sure how much mobility you'll have with your arms since you are getting the girls worked on... i very begrudgingly got a complete unfill before my plastics. i am SO glad that i did. SO GLAD. i was rather tight after my surgery and i can only imagine how bad it would have been if i were filled (i had a great restriction). good luck! -

I'm eating a brownie... okay, 3.
losingjusme replied to want2beme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
SOLID Protein ... it will keep you fuller longer. brownies are delicious, but arent they what helped you get to the point you needed a band in the first place. one every once in awhile is fine, but 3? you can so do this. fill up with a Protein Bar, a piece of cheese, some chicken, beef, something protein and leave the brownies alone ... :grouphug: -
2nd fill: on the verge of misery

yikes! sounds like you are really swollen from your incident last night. give it another few hours and if you are still having issues, call your surgeon and tell him. if no problems with Water / Clear liquids, stay on them for at least 24 hours and gradually increase the consistency. good luck. -

shalee .. i can relate!! the first time my PS looked at my tummy, he asked if i had one ... :grouphug: just had to lift up the 'top flap' and expose it ... so yeah, i LOVE my belly button ... even if it looks kinda gross right now. -

marypetunia, sounds like you are doing great!!! glad the loss is holding. my weight is really fluctuating right now. try eating a banana to get things moving. someone suggested BABY prune juice if that doesnt work, but the banana worked for me.. so glad your in the flatlands with us!! :grouphug: -

One week out and having very bad lower back pain
losingjusme replied to bibo07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when you are moving around, are you hunched over due to incision pain? that may be it. -
hm, good question. maybe call the doc you have a consult with and ask if April is too soon. i know we have quite a few banded moms so it really shouldnt be an issue, but wouldnt hurt to ask.

i went to DisneyWorld last June (about 310ish) and fit OK. the only issue i had was with Space Mountain, had problem with my really large tummy and the bar closing. good luck

well, i go get my stitches removed today at 4. NOT looking forward to that at all. i dunno what all needs to be removed, i was told most are disolvable. i know my belly button stitches are not... **shudder** the thought of them removing them just makes me kinda queasy. :grouphug: my belly button is kinda almond shaped... i think i like it (or will once they take stiches out and get all the gunk out of it... they told me not to bother with it except washing with anti bac soap and water and putting neosporin on it) swelling looks pretty good today despite the fact that i was garment-less last night too. anyone else's temperature fluctuate a lot?? i thought since i lost the belly that i'd be sooooo cold all the time, but its really weird. i get really warm then cool (not really cold), then warm and cool ... driving my DH batty cause i have the fan going at night and he gets frozen and i wake up with 4 layers of sheets/blankets on ... im hoping that Dr. P will clear me for the treadmill today. even if i am going 1.5 MPH, that's better than nothing. -

SOOO glad you are back! tom - not worth it. -
I have a 4 week 'waiting period' between fills and when I really started getting restricted I saw why.. my band tightness varies thru the month... if I would "demand" another fill during my 'looser' time, get that fill, I would then be WAY too tight and possibly slip my band... not good advice, IMO.

hi Pat, welcome to LBT. tell us more about yourself. when were you banded? how much have you lost... the good stuff!!

oh Karey, so sorry you are having restriction issues now... even though i didnt have anything in my band, i was tight for a few days, so i dont doubt that you could be super tight.. if your PS suggested insisting, i'd insist on seeing your band surgeon. i hope you have a better night tonight. at least you got some drains out.
