I have had my band for 1 1/2 years. I have struggled with pain since they put Fluid in. Recently it came to a head and I had terrible acid reflex, sinus infection, and horrible cough. I was to the point that I was sleeping in a chair and upright. Which I can't do. No matter what kind of meat I ate it hurt. It didn't matter if it was soft or rough. I went to the dr. and asked for help and they took some fluid out for about 30 days, to let my esophagus heal. Yes I gained weight, but I feel much much better. Now they are putting it back in slowly. I wonder if the band was on a pain nerve, because now it doesn't hurt and I can truely feel the fullness. Just and idea. Good luck and don't give up!!!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share something with all of you. :tt2: Last year in August at our county fair (before I was banded) I tried ridding the ferris wheel with my 5 year old daughter. Well I didn't fit. It was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever done. I was totally embarrassed!! I did ride it, but the guy just jammed the bar into my large stomach. Well this year, post banding, I did get to ride the ferris wheel with my now 6 year old daughter and it was comfortable. I am not skinny by any means, but at least now my daughter has someone to ride with and we can make more memories together.

Thank you. I am sure you will ride those rides next year.. And ride one that you have a blast on and celebrate the victory!!!!!

I had the banding in Dec 09. The 1st 6weeks were hard. I was on the post op diet for 5 weeks, but you can get creative with the runny foods. I think that might help. Like really runny mashed potatoes, baby foods, etc. YES, you are hungry, you have no fluid in your band. Don't feel bad about that, its normal. Don't worry about losing weight just yet, concentrate on healing. You just had surgery. You will lose weight when the fillings start. Please don't dispair. You are just starting your journey. I know this phrase gets old, but it does get better, and you start to relax. As I have said, "I didn't get obese overnight, it took me years to get to here. It will take some time to get it off." Morale is be good to yourself...

WOW! Great job!! Reading your blog made me smile. Before I had my band last December I felt so alone. Like I was the only one out there that had an issue. I too am 6 months out and I can say I love life. I feel great also. I really didin't realize what I had done to my body until I lost enough weight to feel better - physically, mentally and emotionaly. I am a quite person and when I read your blogs, I feel like you can read my mind. Thank you for being so open.

"Welcome Aboard!!" This is a great resource site. Trust me you run across things that the professionals never tell you.

I was 39 when I became a bandster. I had both my children and decided I was tired of being obese. -
Becoming Very Discouraged...
borntobealoser replied to Thunder629's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please be patient with yourself. You do not have any fluid in your band yet, you have no restriction to the amount of food you eat yet. Once you have it filled you will start to notice more retriction. I promise it gets better. -
Hi, my name is Kim Vance. I was banded on December 1st, 2009. Dr. Holloway did my surgery and I would recomended him to anyone. So far I have lost 30lbs and counting. I see Dr. Holloway or Dot every 2 weeks, just to chart my progress.

Work in progress
borntobealoser replied to borntobealoser's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks. How exciting for you. I know it seems like it takes forever to satisfy insurance companies. It took me a year to get approved. I had 6 months of seeing a dietician, 6 months of seeing my primary care provider, and a psych eval. But you know it was worth it. I knew everything I needed to know before surgery, there were no surprises. It's a long process, but it is worth it. -
 I am 3 1/2 months post-op, and I have pain in my left shoulder when I eat, even on the very 1st bite. It's not constant, and I have tried to take smaller bites, chew longer and wait more time between bites. Any suggestions????

4 weeks post op, hungry and not losing
borntobealoser replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't have any restriction from your band yet. You will notice a difference after you start getting fluid in your band. The 1st 4 weeks are about healing and starting your journey. Don't worry you are normal. -
