Banded a week ago and no restriction
texassparkles replied to anglov's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my 2nd fill on Wednesday so I am at 6.5 in a 10cc band. I was amazed at the difference: as a matter of fact, I spent a good portion of yesterday PBing because I ate some potato soup that really wasnt smooth enough. Don't worry about restriction:Really concentrate on the why of what you are eating: when you are hungry and good choices. It will benefit you down the road. -
I have been super frustrated with my weight loss: I had hit 263, went back up to 268(???) and am now back down to 265.5. I had my semi-annual appointment today with my endocrinologist and she was so supportive and happy for me: I have lost 27.5 since I saw her the week before my surgery, Like she said: that is 2.75 pounds a week. We are looking at why I am so swollen: maybe some Iron issues, maybe my thyroid or it may just be my body adjusting: but the point was well-taken: I am a success! Tomorrow I have fill #2 and I am praying that will give me a new push! Thanks everyone for posting your successes and failures: it really helps me along the way!

I would love to join in: This will be my first challenge: so if you could tell me what to do I would appreciate it! I am going to try for 15 pounds. I turn the big 40 on the 10th and I was shooting for 250 by then: that will put me at 248! -

I am really looking forward to cute underthings: I have worn granny panties forever! My DH told me last night that he thinks that I have been more "affectionate" than usual: maybe so  -
ATTENTION to those who are less than 3 months post-op and discouraged-READ HERE!!!

I was banded on 3/08: I have lost about 29 pounds: That is an average of about 4 lbs a week. I was so apathetic about my weight loss because that 30ish pounds is part of the same 40lbs that I have been gaining and losing for the last 2 years: Someone on this board reminded me in their post that this will be THE LAST TIME that I will have to lose that 40lbs: Can I hear an AMEN? My surgeon only cared about the surgery: get me in, charge my insurance: get me out: he is disappointed in my loss: I should be working harder: You know what: I am okay: I eat some foods I like, I have broken my addiction to bread and I am going to be healthier in the long run! My sis had gastric: losing 60lbs that fast really messed her up: she may look down her nose at how long it is taking me to lose, but I bet that I am the healthier one in the long run! -

Congrats! What an inspiration! -
This week, a very dear friend of mine lost her husband to cancer, my daughter had her 5th birthday and we had a walkthrough at our home. I am 6 weeks post op, have had 1 fill and have some restriction: I swear to you that if I didnt have this band I would have gained soooooo much weight this week. I found myself reaching for comfort foods: but I wasnt able to stuff myself the way that I used to. For example, had cheese fries with friends: we split a 1/2 order: pre band: I could eat a whole order by myself before and still have had a bowl of soup! At the funeral dinner, i couldnt eat half of the "comfort" food that I would have had before, I know that helped! I still struggle with my food addiction, but I am so glad that it is minimized by my new best friend!

Ready willing and able: Need insight

Okay: so I had my first fill today: 6 weeks post op, took me to about a 4.5, I am on liquids for today & tomorrow and then the DR said to start eating like I will for the rest of my life: I have been doing fairly well: I have lost 23 pounds since surgery: My question: I am scared to eat, he said that I would feel it but not to go to mushies: what do you recommend? I have already had some problems with chicken, I have done pretty well with ground beef: is it okay to stick with that? -
What was your "That's it" Moment?
texassparkles replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was at my high school reunion when one of the girls was telling how her husband had left her for someone as big as "me" and it was humiliating for her. She kept going on and on about it. I was mortified because I hadnt really realized how other people really saw me. I lost about 40lbs after that and then put it all back on when my daughter had a health crisis. This is my broom to sweep my "temple" back into shape! -
9 Days Post Op: I can do this!
texassparkles posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my post op Dr appt today: I have lost 15lbs and he moved me to mushies today: warned that I may gain short term weight but not to worry about that too much as my journey is just beginning. I also found out that he went ahead and put 2.5cc in the band: he had said that he didnt fill it before, but today said that if everything looks good at surgery, he will sometimes fill it. That makes me pretty happy too! I feel like I am really on this journey now! -
Need advice from the experts...trouble drinking water 1 day post op...
texassparkles replied to pmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Monday and today was the first day that I was able to drink without that pain: I dont know if I finally figured out how to drink slower or if the swelling went down! From Monday till today I have lost 10lbs though: so I guess it was kinda worth it!
