I was lucky... my doctor put me immediately on full liquids for two weeks. I did fudge and moved to mushies after about 8 days when I was feeling better.

I hate to compare myself, but... I did have what I would describe as a "stinging pain" that would come from that incision on a periodic basis. I am now a little over two weeks out and my pains have dissipated other than a slight sensation in my skin when I rub over it. Just take it a bit easy... don't try to do a lot of twisting or bending and watch how you sit in chairs (I tended to baby one side, or lean in the other direction and I think it created a bit of a pulling sensation that led to my pains.) Hang in there!

Oh you guys, thank you! I just wanted to make sure that what I'm feeling, or not feeling, is normal. Now I won't worry. I did feel the little discomfort for about 5 or 6 days afterwards but that went away so now I'm just trying to be as good as possible until my fills help me along. Now I just have to see if my doc will move up my first fill from April 26 to a week or two sooner. And, I'll be prepared in case that first one doesn't do it for me. Thanks again! Wendy

Hi, all. I'm two weeks out of surgery (March 17) and I'm feeling no restrictions and I've lost no weight. I believe I've ready many people talk before about this being normal until their first fill, but I just wanted to make sure. I had no fill at the time of surgery so I'm just waiting until my first and trying to be as good as possible. I'm eating a combination of mushies and light food that I can chew as much as possible, but I just don't feel that anything is being "held up." Right now I'm just starting to second guess everything. "Remember that time that I tried to lay on my stomach... did I dislodge anything?" "How about when my nephew pushed on my tummy.. did that move anything?" LOL... No apparent restriction until your first fill is fairly normal, right?:thumbup:

Pete, I swear I'm going to follow you around to watch your progress as I haven't giggled so much in quite some time. I like your writing style. :thumbup: I'm getting banded tomorrow at 2:45pm (yeah, right.. my doc is notoriously late so it'll probably be 3:30ish) and I cannot wait! I'm not nervous for the surgery, either, but rather the recovery. I've had the shoulder pain from surgery gas before and it "ain't" pretty. Oh well... if that's the worst I have to endure then this will be a piece of cake (light, and well-chewed, of course.) I'm also dreading sitting in another room hearing all of the people around me farting up a storm like after my EGD test. Goodness, the poor people. I'm tempted to put a St. Patty's Day temp tattoo on my belly for my doctor's amusement, but I'm not sure where to put it. I looked through the scar thread yesterday and dangit but the insertions can be anywhere. Good luck to everyone on your continued recovery!:scared2: Wendy

I haven't been banded yet (Wednesday!!!), but I ruled out bypass or the sleeve because of the permanence. I like that the band can be reversed or removed if there are problems or if life changes in my future deems it necessary. But, I have to say that I did get intrigued with the sleeve procedure when I saw that the weight loss rate is pretty close to that of the bypass, AND when my insurance company told me that they actually PREFER the sleeve over the band. It shocked me, but I'm sticking with the band. It's the right thing for me. Wendy

I know this thread hasn't had any comments for awhile, but I am very excited to find it. Dr. G is doing my surgery this coming Wednesday, March 17. I agree, he's a quick wit and that's good for putting me at ease. :wink2: The only people that I know that have had surgery with him have been several nurses in the hospital so it's been nice to read these comments. Hope more people pop in here and post their opinions.
