All of my life I have been fighting to keep weight off. Several times I have lost weight to a point where I was about 20 pounds "overweight", which was fine with me. The longest I have kept weight off was 3 years. Several more attempts of losing 15 pounds, gaining 20 back [each time]. My weight has skyrocketed from 160 to 270 in the past 10 years. I am 48 now. At this weight I do not have the energy to be very physical. I have been taking Liptor for the past 6 years, using CPAP since 11/09, and am nearing the iffy scale of probable type 2 diabetes if I don't get it together. My friends ask me if I am afraid of this surgery. Honestly, I am more afraid of exploding from a heart attack. I have been thinking about this surgery for the past two years (since 2008). I have finally decided to go see my pcp on 3/16/10. According to my insurance I am a prime candidate for this surgery - it's just a matter of going through the process now. Hopefully, it won't be too long of a process until I can have the surgery. I have a wonderful husband who is very supportive of this. I need to be talking with those who have been through this process.
