I've been up and down with trying to make my decision on the lapband and as soon as I make up my mind my doc found a cyst on my overy. I have to wait 6 weeks before she makes any decisions on taking it off. So Iam going to hold off for awhile until I find out whats going on with my overy. Iam not too disapointed, I made a appointment with a diet clinic this week so hopefully I can get some of this weight off before summer. I just want to wish all of you the best of luck. I was wondering if I could still hang out and maybe show some of my before and after pictures too! Thats if this diet works. Thanks for all the advise!

Thanks for the support. Have you ever had a cyst? I was checked for cancer and everything came back good. How bad can cyst get? The doc acts like its no big deal, but it is for me.

I haven't turned in my paper work to get things started but will update yall when I find out something. Seems like everyone is getting different anwsers. Keep me posted and Good Luck!

I haven't had surgery yet but I do have a question. My lower belly has dropped and was wondering when I lose weight will I have to have a tummy tuck? This has happend from having two kids and not working out. Has anyone else out there in lap land have this problem? Will most of it go away? Iam so excited about this surgery and Iam running out of questions. I'll be glad when I get my new insurance cards so I can get this ball running!

Thanks! I figured it meant some kind of throwing up. Is that common with everyone who has the lap band?

I've recently started new insurance Unitedhealthcare plan 100 a (whatever that means) A couple of my friends lap bands were approved with the insurance, they don't give you any crap. So I hope Iam lucky has they were. I was thinking about joining a diet clinic in the mean time but my husband thinks thats a waist of money (which it is). He is so for this lap band. Its nice to have a husband who is by my side, but he don't understand how long it takes to have the surgery. We live in Louisville Kentucky home of the Kentucky Derbry and my 1st goal is to loose weight by then(1st weekend in May) and I figured if I didn't get approved I could go that route. What do you think? Should I wait until I get my new insurance cards? ~Carmille

carmillejoanita replied to carmillejoanita's topic in Insurance & Financing
No its $79 plus meds (around $60) a month once everything gets started. I know I would loose the weight and fast doing the diet clinic thing the only problem is once its over you gain all back them some. I've already started the 6 month diet so hopefully it will be soon. Good Luck Everybody! ~Carmille -
Insurance and Diet Clinics
carmillejoanita replied to carmillejoanita's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thanks for the quick response! The diet clinic I was looking into they give you diet pills, weight, give pointers on food, and b6 and b12 shots every week if you want. The diet pills are every month. They also check your blood pressure to make sure the pills arent hurting you. I want to do it so bad but the first visit is $299 its for your 1st 2 wks of med blood work and a class. 2weeks later you go for weigh in blood pressure check and 1 month of diet pills and that going to cost $79 for visit and between $30-$60 for meds every month. And they give b6 and b12 shots for energy everyweek at no cost if you want. Does that sound good to you? I need you input bad! Thanks ~Carmille Ps Congrats on the 45lbs gone! Iam so excited for you. Do you have any before and after pictures?:clap2: -
Everyone, I haven't had surgery yet Iam still thinking about it. Just wondering what foods do you miss? Thats really the only thing (besides the insurance) holding me back. Why am I having these ups and downs? The only thing that keeps my sprit up is my husband and yall's before and after pictures. Speaking of pictures, I want to see more new ones. Thanks! ~Carmille

What Foods Do You Miss?
carmillejoanita replied to carmillejoanita's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the rapid response guys!!!! Thats why I love this site so much! I think I would proberly miss white bread and soda too. I heard you could shake up all the fiz out of the soda and still drink it, is that true? Will you never ever be able to eat bread again? How about red meats? Do you feel full all of the time? Just trying to get an idea. Thanks ~Carmille -
Appetite suppresants during liquid diet
carmillejoanita replied to tammyj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Iam on 75 mg tenuate. My brother told me about it. He lost 30 lbs. So far it only works for 4 hours then Iam hungry again. Also heard its very addictive. Now I know the phentermine works, I lost 40 lbs in 6 months but then gained it all back. CLA is a joke to me. Right know Iam so confused. Good Luck ~Carmille -
I live in Louisville Kentucky and have Humana HMO KPPA insurance and they require the 6 month diet. I called them and they said the Doc has to send the paperwork to the insurance company. I told them I started the diet in November and would that count, of course she didn't understand me so Iam just going to talk to my pcp and se what we can do to speed up process. My husband is taking a buyout at his job (Ford Motor Co) and once he quits they will give him 6 months of free insurance, so Iam trying to get everything approved before then. I met this lady today who had a triple heart bypass and she had humana hmo and they declined her surgery. I think thats crazy because her heart doc told her she needs it. I wonder why the insurance turned her down. Would any of yall have an idea? I sure hope they don't turn me down after my 6 months of hard work, I going to be pissed if they do. Once my husband doesn't have insurance anymore I can get some from work so if all fails I hope my insurance will approve. Let me know if anyone knows anything about Humana Thanks ~Carmille

Thanks for the luck! I went to see Dr Geller today. He is GREAT! Iam ready to get this ball rolling. All I have to do now is do that 6 month diet thing to prove to my insurance I need this. Hopefully my doc will hook me up and make up a couple of months. I would like to have this done by summer. My husband works at Ford Motor Company and he is taking the buy out in a couple of months then once he's out of there he gets 6 more months of free insurance before he gets cut off.

Does anyone know anymore doctor's in Louisville Kentucky that do the lapband? Iam on the lookout again. If yall have a list please let me know!

Nice web page ousooner, I really enjoyed the surgery. I think Iam going for it. Iam going to call another Doc tommorow and go to my 3rd seminar! Thanks for the support! -
I joined this site in November 2006, I was so ready to have the lap band done then I went to this seminar and the Doc changed my mind. Since then I've been having ups and downs about having the surgery and now Iam back thinking about it again. I need some advise really bad! I love this web site and I've been looking at the before and after pic's and yall look great! I would like to hear some of yall's stories and should I be having doubts about the surgery? Thanks ~Carmille

Monny0105, the doc I went to he was talking more about the gastric bypass than the lap band. He stated that "Lap Band" is a company thats just trying to sale the product and the surgery is not all that easy. I just didn't like him. The first seminar I went to was wonderful but they want $4000 out of pocket. Good luck tammyj on your surgery, keep me posted on everything! Thanks for the advise juliegeraci Iam going to go for it again! ~Carmille -

Yeehaw,Oh my God! I was just looking at the before and after pic last night and ran across yours and showed my husband and said "look at this before picture, her body looks like mine now". I can tell a big difference in your body shape! Keep up the good work. My husband is on my side and wants the best for me but I believe he is gettin tired of my ups and downs. I want to feel better and have lots of energy and when I look in the mirror I smile. I am going to call another surgon tommorrow and go for it. How much do you weigh now? Iam in a size 22 and never been this big and its time for a change. Keep me posted and thanks for your wonderfull advise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~Carmille -

I weigh 280 lbs and 5'11 with high blood pressure, my pri doc said the lap band would be good for me but when I went to that last seminar the surgon there kind of changed my mind. He scared me because he was so blunt. My primary doc told me to not go to him because she didn't care for him. So Iam going to find another surgon and try this again. My insurance is good the worst they would make me do is wait 6 months (diet) and I've already started that. I don't want to take diet pills. Hey Yeehaw me and you are the same height how much weight have you lost so far? Stories and pictures really help bring my sprit up about the lap band. I almost forgot my first goal weight is 199 lbs as long as I can get under 200 lbs. Thanks ~Carmille -
Iam still thinking about the lap band. Right now Iam working on my 6 month diet, the doc gave me 75 mg tenuate. My brother told me about the diet pill and he liked it but my doc didn't know too much about it. Does anyone out there know about 75 mg cr tenuate?
-
You Go Girl thats the sprit!! I still have little feelings about getting the band but Iam going to take your advise and go to the doc every month and go from there. The surgeon wants me to do the blood work and everything else but Iam going to hold that off until I make my final decsion in 6 months. Keep your head up and you'll go far! GO KENTUCKY GIRL!!!! ~Carmille

I went to Dr Shina and everything went well. He is to the point and I like the way his 1st visit its the seminar, weigh in, pictures get taken and you get to talk to the doc all in one visit. But while I was sitting there listening to him I prayed and said "If this is not ment to be please lead me away." By the time got in my car my mind was change just like that. I've been reading post and doing my "research". I've missed work twice just to attend these seminars and I give up. I don't like the thought of never eating what I want ever again and the doc focused on getting a tube put in your leg for blood clots and thats just too much for me. Theres nobody going to cut on me unless there is something wrong. I believe I can get my will power back I'll be alright. I just want to wish everyone here at lapband talk GOOD LUCK and thanks for the support. Theres nothing against anyone for the lap band Iam just not going to do it. Iam going back on the diet pills for awhile, are there any web sites like this one about people on diet pills? Anyways, its been real! ~Carmille
