I have PCOS too. I have been taking 1000 mil of Glucophage a day for about 9 years. Not a diabetic, It really helps regulate my period. I use to have one 14-16 week period every 4-5 years. In December my regular Dr said since I had lost so much weight (all together 167lbs., 88 since LB surgery in April 2010) he thought I should stop taking the glucophage. I did and a week later Bam! Here comes Aunt Flow for about 4 days....went away for about a week and back for another week, then gone...then back for a few days. This went on for three months....I made an appt with my regular dr. and told him...I get this stuff at Wal-Mart, a 90 day supply for $10 if there are no major side affects I want it!!!....He put me back on it about a month ago and I have had no problems since. Other than my disposition......(I am much happier now and have a lot more energy). Since I was a fat teenager, I feel the way I think a teenager probably feels...(no wonder my 14 year old always seems to be up to no good) ..I was tired when I was a teen at close to 300 lbs. I don't really think anything has changed with my PCOS....I am not one of those that cramps a lot....I do think my flow is heavier....that could be because I'm getting old....ha ha!!! I do have the facial hair on my chin that I have to get rid of still..EVERYDAY...I hate that...no change there....still about the same amount. I wish you the best of luck with your journey. I had my surgery at True Results in Richardson April 13, 2010. My surgeon was DR. Fox and I think he is wonderful. Yes, they did put me in a very nice hotel that night of my surgery so I would be close. Dr Fox called that night, my Post Op nurse called me that afternoon and the following moring Dr. Fox called again before I left the hotel to head home. All the PA's at True Results are extremely good. Iwas a self pay too and it came with a year of visits. I have not had to pay anything...Ofcourse, my year is up now so it is getting that time...ha ha....I have lost 92 pounds since my surgery. I want to loose about 25 more pounds. I wish you good luck! WOW! I loved reading all your post....what an inspiration.....I am down 85 pounds since April 13, 2010 and I would say I love my band. It is like every other relationship.....you have to work at it....every single day. Like all good relationships, it is worth the effort. I know if I had not got the band 9 months ago I would still weigh aroud 278 pounds where my LP journey started and would still be starting my diet this next monday. I started my weightloss journey on January 1, 2000 shortly after my mom passed away. She was blind, in a wheel chair , had heart problems and had diabetis. I knew I did not want to end up like that. On the morning of January 1, 2000 I weighed 357 pounds and I pledged to loose the weight and get healtheir no matter how long it took. It took me 10 years and 3 and a half months to loose 79 pounds. Most weeks I had to start over every Monday morning. If I add up all the informercial stuff, the WW meetings, the pre-packaged foods I bought, etc....etc.... The band was the economical choice for me and I have no regrets. Now I use the money to shop!!!!! I still rememer the day that I got to buy something for the first time in Dillards in a size 24...I started in a 5X or a size 32... It was just a sweet (maybe even sweeter because there are more choices) to get to shop in the misses section a couple of weeks ago for a size 14. I wear a pedometer and try to get over 10,000 steps a day. I have been traveling a lot with work lately and try to hit the treadmil at least 30 minutes a day three times a week. I have lost a total of 85 lbs since April 13 2010. I wat to loose 35 more. I try to keep the mindset of, "Keep Moving". The pedometer really helps me stay motivated. Good Luck to all!

I had my surgery 4-13-10....same thing...and I had the same question. The advice I received was take this time to eat slow....chew chew and chew some more...... Try to start with your Protein and stop eating when you are no longer hungry. The hardest part for me then and now is still the eating slow enough. I do faily OK when at home...when I go out with friends I try to eat as fast as I talk.....OUCH! I have lost 81 lbs since my sugery.....just take this time to learn the rules and how to use your band....it is worth it!!! Stagegirl

I used Dr. Fox at True Results in Richardson. I think he is Awesome. I had my surgery back in April and he insists on seeing me after each appt I have for aftercare. In fact, that is one of the things the folks in the aftercare office commented about. the said, Dr. Fox likes to stay very involved with his patients. I was a cash pay and one full year of aftercare is part of the plan. He gets nothing extra when I come in....I like the fact that he is really staying involved in my progress....so far I have lost 79 pounds. I love Dr. Fox and love my band!!! Stagegirl.....only problem I have is I forgot my password and can't fix my ticker.....need to start another one but I am headed for play rehearsal today....

Wow! What a difference 6 months makes in how I feel. I have lost 76 pounds since April 13 and gained lots of energy. I would like to loose 35 more. I am so happy that I have my band to help me out. Keep up the great work all, Stagegirl

I know writing that check for $12,000 has been something I still remember very well. I do think it has kept me motivated and to stay focused. So far I have lost 75 pounds since April 12 of this year. I think mine also might be motivated by a little guilt. Since my name is Stagegirl you might have figured out I love theatre and my family and I did not take our yearly trip to New York this past year due to the $12,000 I forked out. Whatever the reason.......I LIKE IT!!!!! Did I mention I have lost 75 pounds so far????:wink2: I am motivated to loose 40 more before I visit Broadway again this next summer to see "Catch me if You Can" this summer and "Wicked again, and the revival of "Anything goes" and...... I love my band:wub: Life is GOOD!

I used the True Results in Richardson. My dr. is Dr. Fox and he is awesome. I read all this stuff on here about people that did not understand how the band works or what to expect......believe me Dr. Fox makes sure you understand everything about the band...(multiple times) I was a self pay, my sugery was April 11 and I have lost a total of 75 pounds counting my Pre-op diet. I really like Dr. Fox a lot and I know the folks that work in the office seem to really respect him....I think he holds me and them to a really high standard. Love my band!:laugh: Stagegirl

I am ready to move to :smile:NEderland also. I weighed 206 on Monday. My B-Day is the end of October and I have decided that is what I want for my birthday this year......a move to :smile:NEderland. We can do it! Stagegirl :smile2:

I had my surgery on a Monday in March and hit the road facilitating classes for my company that Saturday. I have not slowed down or stopped yet. I have had two C Sections, and a hernia surgeryr prior to this. For me, this was so much easier to recover from. My Dr. told me to walk, walk, walk and then walk some more. I put my little pedometer on when I left the surgery center and made sure I got as many steps in as possible. I think it is what made for a quick recovery for me. I think walking, following your Dr's instructions and taking care of yourself that first few days sets you up for success. My surgery was scheduled the week before and was put off a week. I was tempted to postpone because I didn't think I would have enough time. I am so glad I didn't wait. I am down 67 pounds and every penny of my $11,500 was worth it. Don't put it off...go for it! I'm in! Let's do this! My birthday is the day before Halloween and all I want for my birthday is to make a move to ONEderland. I weighed 211 today so I need to loose 12 lbs. Last time I seen a one on the left side of the digital reading on my scale would have been 4'th or 5'th grade.:thumbup: (They probably did't have digital back then...lol). I was excited when I moved to TWOterville.....I can only imagine how beautiful ONEderland must be. :tongue2:

I was banded April 12 also. I have lost a total of 67 lbs so far. I am 11 pounds away from ONEderland and really excited to get there. I am really ashamed :thumbup: to type this but I have'nt seen onderland since about 4'th or 5'th grade. YIKES!!! I have good restriction, my last fill was 8 weeks ago. I don't go back to the Dr. till Sept 15. Unless something changes I don't think I will have to have a fill then. I really love my band. :w00t: I hope to hear from you all soon. Stagegirl

April Bandsters are Rockin' It is so great to hear updates from everyone and so very inspiring. I was banded April 13 and have lost a total of 65 pounds on my LB journey. In Jan of 2000 I made a new years resolution that I wanted a healthier life. I had just lost my mom who had suffered with diabetes, heart problems, blindness and in a wheel chair the last 5 years of her life, all due to being overweight. I looked in the mirror and rememberd seeing that number on the scale 357. I went on a diet/ lifestyle change on 01-01-00 and said no matter how long it takes...I am going to get healthier. I lost down to 278 in that 10+ years and I felt so much better. As much better as that 79 pounds made be feel,this latter 65 is even sweeter and better. I am so happy that I made this decission and I pray that we all keep up the good work and stay strong. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories it is what keeps me inspired. I had surgery done by him several years ago. I know I would look elsewhere. I used Dr. Fox at True Results in Richardson. Loved him and his staff. That is my opinion for what it is worth.

I take 1000 Mg of Glucophage every morning. I cut mine in half. I had a problem one time.....just takeing it all to quickly. I take chewable vitiamins now, chewable vitamin C and Tums for calcium all this along with a protien shot in the morning.....as long as I take one....pause....sip......take another one....etc etc..I am fine. I take the chewable with me so I can chew up on the way to work.

I also was a self-pay. I went with "True Results". Out of pocket for me was $9995.00. My insurance picked up all Pre-Op test. The $9995.00 covers one year followup/ fills. Every month so far, (banded April 13) I go to the center for check-up with PA and may or may not get fill and then drive across town to see my surgeon. I am totally pleased and have lost 62 lbs as of today. Dr. Fox and his crew in Richardson TX are the best!!!

Hi everyone! Sounds like everyone is doing great. I got my band on April 12 and have lost a total of 61 pounds. I have been traveling a lot so my exercise program has been many different hotel tread mills. But my work project is nearly over so off to the gym for me.
