  1. For me choosing to not set my goal weight to the perfect BMI almost seems impossible and I think I'm in denial that I could be that thin!!!!!!! So I did set a goal that was 30 pds higher! However, with that said after reading your response ... I change my mind! I've always felt there were muscles under my flab!

    My Dr. is Fill Happy

My first fill was in between 4 and 5 ccs of a 10 cc band and it was just fine! Of course, my second fill last week was like .5 ccs! I had the first fill done three weeks after my surgery on May 24, 2010. Are you having any restriction since the surgery? I had some restriction and could tell I was healing. But the closer I got to my first fill I felt that restriction lessening to almost none. I knew I was eating less than I usually would and I was nervous at just how much less it would be after the first fill. I had great success losing from the pre-op and the first three weeks of the band! Just remember to eat slow and take small bites of everything! I cut everything into tiny pcs before I even attempt eating!

  7. Whooohoooo!!! I just got the call today saying my second request was approved and I now have a surgery date of May 24th!!!! Starting preop today, even though it'll be a little less than two weeks!!!! I was initially denied and was sooo depressed thinking I went through the six-month hoop for nada! Thank goodness for helpful staff people who resubmitted and got it approved. Now I'm in that flying high whoohooohooo and omg I am having surgery moment at the same time! :smile2:
  8. HI, I received my denial on Thursday. I have Cigna. The doc office ins lady tells me it was denied because at some pt in the last five year history my BMI was between 35 and 40, and not the constant 40 and above. The one time I was able to lose weight in my life of course happens to be within that five-year history. But guess what that loss didn't last! And I thought that was the purpose was to show how you have gained and lost and gained and lost  Has anyone else been denied for this reason? And was able to be approved later? I'm working on my appeal letter now. I'll be including family history and going back much longer than five years. Any advice would be helpful?! Thanks, Kelly

    Denied

I'll have to read it all to compile an appeal response. My other problem is that my comorbidity comes from high blood pressure, but it too does not span the last five years. It's just disappointing! When the lady first submitted it, it was "preapproved" in the sense that my ins covers this type of surgery.
  10. Wow, this is a new one on me. How did you know it was flipped? What kind of pain did you have?
  11. I love your post!!! That's great advice for me and for my child (who I vow will not be a member of the "clean your plate" generation I was in)!!!!!! I might have to add music and make it my theme song for after my surgery!
  12. Wow, really! You're doctor was a nut! I've had something similar happen to me. After searching for a new primary care doc, I had this new doc tell me that he doesn't prescribe weight loss medication ever and basically told me to drink more Water and cut out all carbinated drinks. Like it was that easy and I hadn't already been doing that! I was sooo mad! How rude!
  13. Actually, gallbladder is a good! I was always in the bathroom all the time and couldn't eat certain foods after that surgery.

    Looking for May Bandsters

OH I want to be a May Bandster!!! My last appt is April 22! Then it's the waiting game for the insurance. My NP said it six months ago when I started this that she had gotten an approval in two weeks and then about a month ago it was about a month! :cursing: So more waiting....I'm trying to be patient so I have just filled life with a lot! I'm taking five classes full time and working full time! I graduate May 7 and was hoping for a surgery around the week of the 20th!

  17. Yeah that was my aha moment tooo!!! :tongue2: I trained with Team in Training for five years and the most I was ever able to do was not gain weight!!! The first year I lost some and was happy. I even went to a WLS seminar and looked around and said okay maybe this is not for me. Then, the last year I trained I went from running half marathons to walking a full marathon and gained weight by the end!!! How frustrating! It was time for a change and I needed help! I had no hesitation when the nutritionist asked me if I was certain I wanted the surgery now. I'm about to do my fifth appointment next week!! I'm getting really excited about having the surgery done soon!
  18. My psych doc warned me that people may act different and react badly after the surgery! He said basically that they'd be jealous of all the new clothes you'll be wearing!!!! :frown: It's hard when it's people you work with as you're around them more than your true friends who want the best for you!!! I think stories like yours is what is making me not share my surgery journey with my co-workers!!! :frown: So they won't have a chance to nitpick at me!

    I know it's not easy but ...

"Slime and pb city," okay, new to the site. What does this mean?

    I know it's not easy but ...

I enjoy reading your humor!!! And I concur! Seriously people! Be happy! My psych doc said to beware of the attitudes of people you least expect because of jealous and human emotions that come with your weight loss!
  21. Finally added a profile as I'm about three months away from surgery! Two appts and then the wait for approval! :tt2: It'll be like life before the surgery and life after!!! Can't wait for the after party!:tt1:
