  1. Lionsll - The gas is the worst part about the surgery...it was completely gone by day 4 for me...
  2. I got stuck for the first time on day 2 or 3 of Post-op...It was on my blood pressure pill...it must have gotten sideways or something and it gave me a heck of a time...lasted about 5-10 minutes...luckily for this forum, I knew what was going on as soon as it started...now I cut my pills up into smaller pieces and swallow them that way...I've been okay since.. I am still on liquids so I haven't had any "Food" stuck yet though....
  3. I also had my surgery on 3/8/10...So I know what you mean...I have been sticking to Protein shakes and will occasionally splurge and eat some Tomato Soup or even some Potato soup that I have put in a blender...both do an excellent job of filling me up...I'm not even sure how you managed to drink an 8oz glass of milk as a matter of fact...I guess we all react differently to the surgery...i haven't been able to get down more than 2-3 oz of any liquid (even water) until today. Today was the first day I was able to get in about 5-6 oz of soup for dinner...and I'm STUFFED... :wink2: Just keep pluggin away at it...

Confused Lap Band vs. Realize Band

I think there are some minor differences in the two brands, but I liked the Realize band because it was a little bigger as far as the cc's go, and I liked the website support...I just got banded on Monday and I am doing pretty good so far... :wink2:

    Realize Band Website

I am new to this I know (6-days Post-op), but I rather like the Realizemysuccess.com webpage...It is good for tracking what I eat as well as my progress and stuff... I agree it would be better if it had these types of forums, but so far I have gotten quite a bit of use out of it... :wink2:

    Conservative VS Liberal

Here, take the Nolan Test to see where you truly stand...According to this test I am a Libertarian...Not sure I 100% agree with that because there are a few things that Libertarians side with that i do not....but its interesting either way... Nolan Chart Survey

    How Often Do You Eat?

I shoot for every 3-4 hours, but I'm not able to get anywhere near that down...I'm lucky to get about 2-3 oz of a protein shake down before I start feeling extremely full...
  9. I had a similar "That's it" moment, when I took my kids to the amusement park and was not able to ride any of the rides because i didn't fit in the seats with all the safety belts and bars they've got on those things now....That and when we got home I was already a bit upset with myself and then I looked at some of the pics my wife took and had the same reaction to my pictures...That was it for me, I knew I had to do something...
  10. I'm 5 days post-op and have not taken any pain meds; even in the hospital...I don't do well with pain meds so I avoid them if I can. Actually I felt almost no pain at all with my surgery, which I thought was a bit odd... I was pretty nauseous though for about two days...It will go away..just try to SIP some water every so often to be sure you don't get dehydrated....
  11. Okay, I am 5 days post op, and so far I've lost a good amount of weight...I'm not sure exactly how much because I'm still too fat for my scale at home to read me, but I can see a difference in how my clothes fit and so forth. The problem is that I am miserable. I've had my medication get stuck the past two days, even though I cut the pill into quarters, and I've been getting the worlds worse case of the hiccups, as weird as that sounds, but they are a bit painful... I have been given some hope however by some of the posts here that i will eventually be able to get down more than 2-3 oz of a Protein shake without gagging... I guess my question is, when or does it get better? Or am I just going to have to learn to live with this from now on?
  12. I've only told a select few people about my surgery and have just been ignoring everyone else for right now.
  13. I can relate a bit on this one...When I told my boss that i was taking the time off and then explained what I was doing, he just said, "I hope you can do it this time." and then talked about how many people he's seen have some type of weight loss surgery, only to gain it all back later....I was a bit PO'd at him after that, but decided to pick my battles. I think that some people, especially those who have never really had weight problems, just can't fathom having the types of issues we have. They think that just because they are skinny and don't gain weight, that everyone else can do it just like they do... My advice is to get the surgery and then show her with your progress just how ready you are for it...Sometimes its best to let the results speak for themselves.... :frown: Good luck and keep us posted.

    very BLOATED!!!!!

I am 4 days post-op and I didn't have much of any soreness or pain after surgery. I do fill very FULL though...I am wondering how long it lasts though...I don't know that i could eat real food if I wanted to right now... :blushing:
  15. I lost 13lbs in the week long pre-op diet, and I have lost a good deal in the few days following the surgery, (enough that people who hadn't seen me in a couple of days noticed a difference) but I don't have an exact number because my scale at home still says "Get Off Me!!" whenever i get on it... I won't know for sure until I get to the Doc next week for my follow up...
  16. I am 3 days Post-Op and had my first instance of being "stuck" today. I went to swallow my blood pressure med, which is not a very large pill, but apparently it went down sideways or something. I felt a little tightness in my chest and then i got the worst case of the Hiccups I have ever had in my life...then came the slime...it passed after about 10 minutes or so, but it was a bit scary the first time not being sure exactly what it was that was happening. Thanks to these blogs though, I had a bit of an idea of what was going on...Good times..

    Snacking

Well it sounds as though you've got half the problem beat. At least you're snacking on good foods instead of things that are bad for you. I think its important to take baby-steps. You have been "programming" yourself to be this way your whole life and its going to take a while to "De-program" you; if that makes any sense... keep up the good work...
