  3. Sara, Did you ever have your surgery? How is it going?

    Baby Food?

I ate organic baby food with no added sugar and honestly, the fruit flavors weren't bad at all, but the chicken/beef etc. were AWFUL! The kind I had was really high in proetin though so I ate it.
  5. I'm becomming increasingly nervous that this will happen to me. I have to admit, I cheated a couple times on the post-op diet. About two weeks in, I ate some solid chicken in my tortilla soup and some other things like that. The few things I cheated with I chewed insanely well until they were pretty much a powdery liquid in my mouth. I haven't thrown up, I haven't had acid, I haven't had anything stuck, but I've heard a slipped band can be asymptomatic. The only thing I have is that all the sudden last night I have an awful stabbing pain when I take deep breaths. The pain is located on my left side under my ribs. It feels like gas pain to me. How common is a slipped band and what is the likelihood I would get it? I know I was wrong for cheating on the diet, but I guess my head wasn't quite in the place I thought it was.
  6. Hey guys, I just had surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and everything has been going great. I'm down 20 lbs., I've been following the diet, I haven't thrown up, Pb'd or had any acid reflux. All the sudden today, I have a burning sensation in my throat. I've had acid reflux my whole life, but have never felt anything like this. All the websites I've read say acid reflux, but I've had no acid come up. Any ideas on what this might be? My doc is 6 hours away so I don't really want to drive unless it's necassary.
  7. I was just recently banded and I totally understand what you're feeling! I started reading online statistics of complications and it was a bad idea! I feel great, so I think it's just post-surgery worries. Everyone else is right though, none of those are symptoms of band slippage so try hard not to worry!
  8. I've decided to keep a blog documenting my journey for those who are considering the surgery, but also so I may see my changes. I am curious if anyone else is doing this? If so, I would love to follow along with your blog! Please post! Mine is: New Beginnings
  9. It has been quite the trial the past few months as I jumped through hoops for my insurance company and dealt with several serious medical issues along the way. However, I got the call today that my insurance company has APPROVED the surgery!!! :bored: I am ELATED! My surgery date is set for July 28th, I will begin pre-op the 15th. I could not be more excited! Any advice, tips, etc. from those who have had the surgery and been successful...would be great! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I would love to get together with you sometime. I am currently waiting for my insurance company to give the final approval and once they do I will immediately start the pre-op diet and go into surgery two weeks afterwards...I can't wait!!

  11. Hello, Sara, I live in Amarillo and was banded on 4-23-10 in Lubbock. Would like to get together with others that live in the area. Call me if your interested. 379-9151

  12. Hi Sara, I finally figured this out. I don't know why it was so hard. Give me a call and we can meet for lunch/coffee, or whatever. Would love to encourage you. I have now lost 75 pounds. Its been 2 1/2 years since my surgery. I love my band. It started out pretty slow, but now it is coming off faster. I am very happy. Lets get together. 683-0599

  13. I totally know how you feel! When I found out mine would be covered I wanted it done the next day, but I am having to wait 3 months. However, now that some time has passed I am SO glad I've had to wait! I feel so much more prepared now. Now I feel like the band will truly work for me. Take the time to learn and enjoy learning about how wonderful your new life will be!
  14. Thanks for the encouragement. And same to the both of you!
  15. My insurance required that I have 3 nutritional consults and several tests done prior to having the surgery...if I did these things, they would pay for the surgery. At first I was really frustrated because I just wanted to have the surgery and begin my journey. However, I have to say now that I am almost there, I am very very glad I have had these hurdles. Over time, questions have come up, I have done lots of research, I have listened to success and non-success stories. The company I am going through is called True Results, and they have taken extreme care to make sure I am 100 % prepared for the surgery and the after care. I say all of this because I can't help but wonder if the people who have not had success did not have such amazing preperational guidance. Maybe they weren't really told all of the ins and outs about the surgery and how to eat and what to eat. I pose this question because I am taking every bit of advice and knowledge my doctors are giving to me and I plan on following it verbatim, and I hope, I truly hope this surgery will work for me.
