3 days since surgery and have not lost ANY weight
peacock774 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its been 3 days since my surgery. I was banded on June 1st. I have been really sore and bloated. I have only ate a little soup and slim fasts shakes. I got on the scale this morning and weighed exactly the same. I did a liquid diet 2 days before surgery and low calorie diet 6 weeks before that. I lost ten lbs. during the low calorie diet. I am starting to freak out and think Im not going to lose anymore weight. I ate 4 bites of a scrambled egg this morning and almost threw that up. Has anyone had similar problems? -
what's with the shoulder pain?
peacock774 replied to kurby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the surgery 2 days ago and woke up in recovery with the worst shoulder pain ever. I have had other surgeries including hysterectomy, but none were as painful as this. I asked to be seated in a chair and almost immediately the pain lessened. I have been moving around as much as I can and it seems to help. Good Luck. -
I had my surgery 2 days ago. Im really sore. I didnt know I would feel this way. I ate cream of mushroom soup last nite and felt really sick. I am scared too eat anything else. I have been drinking slimfast shakes. My stomach is so swollen. I also had a hiatal hernia.

Well my surgery is scheduled for Wed. but I went for lab work last Wed. and they said my potassium was dangerously low. So I went back the next day and they redid my blood test and said it was up a grunt but still way too low. I am supposed to go back tomorrow and see if it has come up over the weekend. If not my surgery will be postponed. Then today I find a letter from my insurance company saying that they will not cover the surgery because my doctor is not a preferred surgeon. I am starting to feel that Im not meant to have this surgery.

I know I should be excited about the surgery but I find that the closer it gets the more nervous I get. I got to meet the surgeon for the 1st time Thursday and I broke down crying. He told me that it was ok to be nervous that it means I am really thinking about this decision because it is a big decision. I have never done well with change, good or bad. I guess it has taken me so long to get to this point that everything is starting to sink in. But I do know that it will be worth it in the long run.

Getting ready for surgery March 31!
peacock774 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive been on a low carb diet for a week and when I went for my weighin at the clinic I actually gained 1 lb. I could'nt believe it. I did not cheat at all. The rules are at clinic is that you cannot gain any weight before surgery. Since I gained 1 lb they moved my surgery up one week to March 31. I have to go back before the surgery to make sure I lost that lb. I don't know what to do. I am still going to follow the diet and hope I can lose the weight.
