I have done a lot of praying, talked to friends and family, and done a lot of soul searching and this journey is for me! I can't wait to meet w/ Dr. Glasgow and get started on the pre-surgery planning! I deserve the opportunity to LIVE my life, not hide behind the shame of my weight!I am on my way now:
4/9/10 Just completed my sleep study. I have to wait 3-4 weeks for that to be analyzed. 4/12/10 Going to see Dr. Arthur Glasgow for initial consult. 4/24/10 Getting my nutrition consult out of the way. 4/22/10 Getting my psych consult done and then.....so I finally got to sey my surgery date. It will be on 5/18/10. I start the pre-op diet May 8th (the day before mother's day...fantasic). I have my pre-op date set and everything seems to be falling into place
5/4/10: I just had my pre-op appointment at Norwood Hospital. They just took my weight and blood pressure and did and EKG. Then I was off to meet Arthur Glasgow one more time before I go in for my surgery. Everything looked fine and he explained to me what to expect. I start my liquid diet this Saturday. I really hope these next 2 weeks go by quickly. I am really nervous but really excited too! 5/18/10 I was banded by Dr. Arthur Glasgow at Norwood Hospital. Everything went really well. I was the 1st patient in the OR that day so everything went on time. I stayed overnight and was home the very next morning. I was up on my feet and moving from the very beginning. I didn't even need to fill the pain med prescription. I just took liquid Tylenol and Motrin. Now 2 weeks of liquids until my post-op followup. 6/1/10 Got my staples out...they were in too long and my skin was really irritated but, to my surprise, the staples (10 in all) didn't hurt coming out! I also met with the nutritionist right after and can start on pureed foods now! 6/15/10 Met with Nurse Jen from the office today...down 25 pounds since my pre-op visit! Even better news, I can start on solid foods! Very exciting! 6/29/10 Got my first fill today. I really was scared but it went fine. I am only down 2 more pounds in 2 weeks so they decided to put 4.5 cc in the band. I hadn't felt any restriction before and really felt I was eating too much. lets hope my weight loss improves. i am starting to walk every moring with my dog Sully so that should help the process along....
