    I've Got A Date!!!

I'm so jealous! Good for you!!!
  2. These recipes look so good! I copied and pasted them into an email to myself to have when I get to the mushy stage. Thanks!
  3. How different perceptions can be! I find the firmer posts to be tough love- I know I don't like it always, but I do appreciate them, and find them more helpful than the posts that collude with unworkable behavior. If I'm cheating, I'm only hurting myself, and I think it's good for me to be responsible about that. To each their own journey!

    Looking for May Bandsters

It looks like I'm definitely going to be a May Bandster- I don't have a date yet, but I saw my doc today and he said definitely May! Yippee/yikes!
  7. So- I saw my doctor today, and he says surgery in the second half of May. I will see him in 2 weeks for a specific date! The possibilities are feeling closer:thumbup:!!!

Rubio, welcome! This site is a great place to find us other guinea pigs and our experiences!
  9. Katie, all I can say is look into it, get yourself as informed as you can both pros and cons, and then make your choice. Me, I wish I had known about the lap-band years ago! This site is a great place to begin. Welcome!

    Got the Jitters

I think your fear and second thoughts are very understandable, and I know I share them, having gone through all the hoops like you, and now waiting for a date. I guess what is important is our third thoughts, of- okay, now what do I do? It's OK to back out, it can be reversed down the road, can I do the weight loss on my own, what if I fail, etc., etc. What do I do? I know for me it's full steam ahead; I'm tired of struggling without the support the lap-band will give me. I'm tired of fighting hunger. But that's my answer for me. Only you can decide what's right for you, whether it's worth the risk or not.
  11. Yay, Leigha, for getting your fill! And I would give my eye-teeth to be able to say I've lost 48 lbs! Way to go! Betsy, it is great to have you back! Hey, all, keep your fingers crossed for me please! I see my doc tomorrow, and he sure better have some answers for me , or I will be , and will do as someone suggested, which is sic a bunch of LBTers on him!

    I am SO impatient!!!

I know impatience!!! I so understand your need to vent! I've been at this process since early last fall with one delay after another- it is aggravating. I decided to use the time to practice new behaviors that I would need once I'm banded. Patience- small bites and patience- chew chew chew and patience- journal my intake and exercise and patience- actually regularly exercise and patience- calm down my impatience and patience- not give in to excuses, and patience- remind myself Rome wasn't built in a day. Some days I do better than others, but I'm feeling pretty good about my progress. On the other hand, if my doctor puts me off again tomorrow for one reason or the other, he better be prepared for my reaction  !
  15. Whatever you do with them, get rid of them! You don't need them anymore!!! Whoopee!!!!!!!

Great work, china! You can do it, and it is so worthwhile!

    Gallstones

I was told I couldn't have the procedures done at the same time because of the possibility the gall bladder removal could contaminate the abdomen and the band. So I had my gall bladder out last fall, and am still waiting on the band- long story why. Hopefully my banding will be in May. I also have a hiatal hernia, and they will take care of that at the same time I am banded.

    First Milestone!

    Awesome, Bree! Great work!
  19. Let's see- let me count the things... 1) Health- feel healthy again- this last year has taken a big toll on my health. I want to get off my cholesterol pills, and give my arthritis a break. 2) Energy- Between weight loss and exercise, to have lots of energy and strength again. 3) Self image and self esteem- to feel good about myself and how I show up in the world. 4) Vanity, of course !!!

    Pre Op Senior

An almost senior here- 59, and also pre-op. I will see my Dr. Tuesday and hopefully find out a thing or two. I would love a date at this point! I'm relatively low BMI but have co-morbidities that make losing weight all the more important. I'm hoping for latter May. KerryP, this board is an excellent place to hang out and learn all about it!

    Back in the game! :)

DonnaMarie, way to go, grrl! Back up on the horse! You are inspiring for a) 100 lbs lost and getting back at it!
  22. Well now, overate (not too badly) yesterday- out for breakfast with friends, and then birthday dinner at step-daughter's. But did walk our usual 2 miles. Lordy, I can't wait until I'm not hungry!!! From what I gather, though, it will be awhile for me because of still no surgery date, and then the likelihood of bandster hell after surgery. I keep telling myself that the more I lose now, the less I will have to do later- I've already done more than 10%! Thanks for all the encouragement and info here- it's already making my journey easier because I know what to expect. Julian'smom, is your scale moving yet? I like this thread because we can whine. It's impossible to keep a positive attitude all the time, and the going gets hard sometimes. Christie, Like I said, I think whining is good for the soul sometimes- all things in moderation. Denise, I hope you're feeling better! I always joke that the best part of being sick is losing weight. Congrats on your new grandnephew! Leigha, what have you decided re: your free fill? Stacie, have you had a day of R & R yet? Bobbie, How are you doing? Dottie, I bet lots or most of us have struggled or struggle with anxiety and depression. Insurance companies should have it as a co-morbidity. The trick is to not let feelings run the show. Have them, and do what we need to do anyway-simple, but not easy. Anyhow, it's a pretty day here, and it's walk time.
  23. Another one lost! Can't wait until surgery and restriction to make this a little bit easier. I see my doctor Tuesday so maybe he will have some answers then. He better! Sorry I can't help you, Leigha!

    Decent tasting Protein shake mix

    https://www.unjury.com/store/protein/ for unflavored protein powder.
  25. Christie, good answer to Leigha's question lather rinse repeat. Denise, how goes it? Still upright? Amy, sounds fun and gives me lots to look forward to! IL, glad your scale is behaving itself! Bobbie, the absolute jerk! Everything's pretty quiet here except for spring busting out all over. I keep practicing, walking, eating right, and the scale went down one whole pound! Gotta keep reminding myself I'm doing this for my health. Hello to everyone!
