    Banded 2-2-10

Hi, Brenda, Welcome to the board! I hope you find it as useful as I have, and I'm not even banded yet (surgery date May 26)!
  2. Congratulations, Melissa! What a relief! Good luck tomorrow...

    Pre-Op Hell

I start 2 weeks of pre-op Optifast 6X/day next week, and I must admit I'm approaching it with a bit of dread. Plus a week after surgery of Clear Liquids, then a week of full liquids, then 2 weeks of mushies. My doctor is one of the stricter ones, and while I like and trust him a lot, I wouldn't have minded if his regimen was a little looser. I've been eating like I'm banded for the past two months, and I've gotten used to it. I'm surprised I haven't had more of a last supper syndrome.
  5. Hello, all! I've been a bit disgruntled because of family issues, bless their souls, but I shall survive. See my Dr. tomorrow for a pre-op and to check the status of my insurance approval. I'm counting the days with a bit of dread to my 2 weeks of Optifast and clear liquids. I think I've done a good job of preparing myself for my surgery, and for the likelihood of Bandster Hell. I've been eating like I'm banded for the past 2 months and walking mostly every day. Last Supper syndrome hasn't been an issue at all, which surprises me. Anyhow, I'm rooting for all of you- thanks for preparing my way!

    Evening hunger

I agree with the protein rich snack- I do a protein shake and it does the trick.
  7. I'm mot even banded yet, and I want to say "Thank you!" to this thread. I think all pre-op people should read it; also the people involved in our health care.

    Lost My Voice...

I haven't had my surgery yet, so I don't know what will happen to my voice. I'm sure it will get better soon!

    Hiatal Hernia

My hiatal hernia will be repaired when I get my lap-band- two for the price of one! I'm hoping I'll be able to stop Prilosec after surgery.
  13. I am so in agreement with Betsy's post. Don't get the surgery if you're not in the mindset for it yet. You know you're making bad choices- you say so yourself. Why ask us if we agree with you that "it's not so bad?" That doesn't mean that any of us is perfect all the time; it does mean that if you know you're making bad choices you have the capacity to make good choices. Make them- we and all the TLC in the world can't make them for you. Above all, please don't ask for support for unworkable behavior. At least put forth a plan for what good choices you're going to make for yourself, so you and we know what we all can count on. That's real support. Sorry if my tone comes across as rough. I get irritated when someone asks me to support what's not good for them. Plus you're putting a huge amount of energy and time into cheating- why not use that time and energy positively?

    insurance question

It depends on your insurance, also your doctor for requirements.

  16. I'm not allowed coffee until I'm back on solid foods, but I'm sure each Dr. has their own guidelines.
  17. Happy Bandiversary! What a success story- thanks for the inspiration!

    Computer Journal or Diary

FitDay.com is free, and in addition to food and exercise, it has space for regular journaling, too. They have a program for the computer for a fee, but I don't use it.

I think this would depend on your particular Dr's office.

    Not So Supportive Spouse

I'm not banded yet (surgery May 26), but it has helped bringing my husband to classes and appointments. My doctor said after the first class "You can bring him as much as you want! He asks such good questions!" Many of his questions were pretty negative at first; now, he just wants info. He's come around to being very supportive. There's nothing wrong with doing the banding for vanity; I think he just might be able to hear health reasons more easily.
  23. Thanks for being such an inspiration! I know you put a lot of perspiration into your results!

I have just the basic 100, and it's fine for my purposes.
