  1. Welcome to the board, MaryAnn! Where are you from in CT?

    Pre-Op diet/Fasting.

I kept having dreams last night that I had cheated on my pre-op. It was such a relief to wake up! 12 more days...
  3. Wow, only 3 days? I have 2 weeks before of OptiFast, and 2 weeks after of full liquids, for a grand total of 4 whole weeks! I'm now on my second day. Surgery is May 26.
  4. Mine's the 26th, and I'm on the OptiFast. The chocolate's tolerable, as are the chocolate peanut butter bars (can you tell I like chocolate?). I didn't get the soups.

    Pre-Op diet/Fasting.

I'm on day 2 of my 14 days of Optifast and I am CRANKY! Poor hubby! Thank heavens I was dieting for the last 2 months- I would hate to have to deal with this straight from eating regularly! Surgery May 26!
  6. I'm doing OK with my pre-op OptiFast- day 2- but am cranky. It's a good thing I was dieting before this! I can't keep up with all of you with the BBs and the Power 90s and P90Xs, etc! I think I'm going to be stuck at the wee-bee level of Wii Fit for awhile! Denise, hope you feel better soon! And Sedona is a lovely place. Bobbie, congrats on your new job!!! Woo-Hooo!!!! Lena, welcome to the thread!

    Newbie from VA

Hi! Welcome to the board! I'm May 26 also- just started my pre-op yesterday!
  8. This must make you so proud of yourself- way to go!
  9. Well, I've gone out and bought, not a BB, but a Wii and Wii Fit and Just Dance and a couple of other discs. Maybe I'm transferring my food addiction to a shopping addiction! Anyhow, I work out for about an hour, plus walk fast 2-3 miles a day. A gym membership will come after I've recovered from surgery (start my pre-op diet tomorrow!)
  10. Can't wait until I can say the same thing! Keep up the good work!

    6 month diet

I echo what palmtreegirl says- it's not a long time at all, and it's a good time to practice being banded, just getting used to the routine without the PBing and the getting stuck, etc. I'm finally getting banded in 2 weeks after working at it for 8 months, and I finally feel ready to take on the changes. Another way of looking at it is there's less to lose on the other end!
  14. I'll be going on vacation 5 weeks after banding, and will still be on mushies for the first five days. I figure I'll be taking Protein powder and being creative. I'm not sure I would have wanted to do it any sooner; even this feels sooner than I would have liked.

    Pre-Op

My pre-op start Wednesday the 12th- gotta go 2 weeks on Optifast. I've been dieting for 6 weeks now at 1000 cals a day, so hopefully the liquids won't be too bad. But I'm decidedly nervous! Happy Mother's Day!
  17. Thanks for being such an inspiration! I'm being banded May 26, and may I have the same results in a year! Great hard work on your part! What did you do to make the band work so well?

    Milk question

I used to feel "yuck" about skim; now I can't drink anything else. I do count and use it as food, though the ounces are good towards the fluid requirement.
  19. You all are too funny, and, no, I'm not getting a BB because it's too advanced for me! More accurately, I'm too lazy! I'm working my way up to more exercise, very gingerly. Happy Mother's Day!

Able to eat till I hurt

I'm so grateful I found out about Bandster Hell before I am banded- it helps to know what to expect. For the past two months I've been acting as if I'm banded, so I think I will be able to handle it if I do go through BH. I gave the feedback to my doctor the other day that I think the possibility of BH and how to deal with it should be included in the pre-op classes.

    Pre-Operative Class

My pre-op class was very similar to yours, and very helpful. The only thing I would have changed would have been more direct about what to expect after surgery re: the possibility of Bandster Hell and how to deal with it if it does occur, so people won't be surprised.
  22. I had a couple of setbacks in my process, too, and at first I felt discouraged. Then I realized that giving in to the discouragement was my usual pattern of sabotaging myself. So then I got mad, and have used the anger as healthy energy to move myself forward no matter what. The new insurance will use the same stuff your old insurance did. Don't give up!

Banded 5/3 - OOPS, No Band!!

Don't give up!!! Don't let the discouragement sabotage you- act like you got the band, and then you will be ahead of the game when you are banded!

    New and needing advice

I had four nutritionist appointments, 3 individual, and 1 as a class. They were very useful with what to expect after surgery- how to work with the band. I've been practicing patience since starting this process eight months ago. I had a couple of unavoidable delays in my process, and while irritating at first, I have been making good use of the time. I've been living like a banded person these past 2 months. You sound like you've been working hard too- just keep it up, and your surgery will come soon enough!
