  1. Just wondering if this is normal. I lost 18lbs pretty fast in about the first 3 weeks post op, but now that I can eat solids the loosing has stopped. I am 5 weeks out and have not lost anything in 2 weeks. Granted I feel like I can eat about as much as I could post op, but I try not to. Did anyone one else have an issue like this prior to their first fill and if so did the weightloss pick back up after being filled? Thanks for the help.

    pre fill weightloss stopped

Thanks Astrasmom you are a wealth of knowledge  I do notice a little belch when I eat, I wonder if that is my soft sign? i usually keep eating, but I will try to stop and see if I still feel "hungry" in 20 min or so. I did tons and tons of research and preparing for this surgery, so I thought that I would have less of a hard time with the mental hunger aspect of things. Prior to the band I didn't think I had a "food issue" but that I was just more hungry then "normal" people. Now I am realizing that I get more mouth hungry or mental hungry then stomach hungry if that makes sense. I recognize it though and will be actively working of fixing that problem.

    pre fill weightloss stopped

Thanks  I am going to start measuring out portions and jsut stopping instead of relying on my stomach to tell me I am full. Hopefully that will get me back on track. Also I am hoping that even if it takes a few fills for restriction I will at least be able to feel not hungry after eating 1 cup of food. Guess I will have to wait and see about that though. I have my first fill next wed.

    recent surgery/complications??

totally normal. as long as you are following the diet.....depending on the doc should be full liquids or softs at this point, then it is very hard slip the band. The reason for the diet is to avoid any vomiting which can cause slipage int he early phase (less then 3 weeks post op) I am 5 weeks out and I still get some stomach pain. It took about 3.5 weeks before I felt almost normal. Plus there is the learning curve about eating and drinking slowly. This caused me lots of gas a couple weeks post op, but after I figured it out and slowed down it was much better. Good luck and if you are worried then call the doctor>>>>>>>>>. thats what we paid them for

Lost 39 pounds(!!) but I don't get it?

another thing to ththight your old think about is how tight your old clothes were before the weight loss. Have you had had say your size 18's for a year or two and then go to the store to buy another pair of 18's and they are way too tight??? it's like your jeans mold to you and you can wear them longer even when you are gaining. so be patient I am sure it will come. Right now I am down almost 20 lbs but my cloths still fit me the same. I am sure it will be another 30+ lbs before I am outta the plus size range. Keep your head up and keep up the great work!!!

    Is this normal???!

I was also banded around the same day. I started off heavier then you though so I had more to loose. So far I am down to 218 from 236. Also it would depend on your post op diet. I don't get a fill until week 6 and my diet advances each week. clear liquids, full liquids, soft foods, soft meat, veggies and fruit, red meat and breads. Since I am now on solids and meat I am no longer lopsing as quickly. I also do not have restriction yet, but do eat less then pre-op. I wouldnt worry too much because you are not really able to use the band until you have some fills to get restriction. Just keep making good food choices :tt1:
  7. I am new here and just banded about 2 weeks ago. I have not had my first fill yet, and I was starting to doubt that I would get "full" with the correct amount of food (1/2-1 cup) this post especially the one w/ the doctors story helped so much. I have been sticking to only eating 1/2 of a cup at a time and it has been so hard!!! I am really looking forward to my fills so that I can feel satisfied on that amount of food. I didn't realize I had this much will power until, but I am afraid to eat til i am "full" thinking that I may cause a slip or something so I am holding strong with my 1/2 of a cup :scared2:
  8. I was banded just 9 day ago. No much in the way or problems or pain, just standard pain and swelling near the biggest incision. Then day before yesterday I noticed my lower left abd was a little sore. It was worse yesterday and still worse today. I called my Dr this morning but no call back yet :blushing: My inital thought was constipation but I had BM's yesterday and again today, so that's not it. It started very low like 3" above my pubic bone and to the left now the pain is from jus tleft of my belly button and lower. I did lots of searches and I am not seeing where this seems to be a common thing. Please help
  9. I am very new in my lapband adventure, but I jsut wanted to say congrats!!!! It is encouraging to know that real weightloss is possiable using the band as a tool and following the directions. I had been reading lots of post here and on other websites and I was starting to get discouraged because of seeing so many post about people having problems or being 1yr out and only having lost 50lbs. I am in a tuff stage having not had my first fill yet (9days post op) I am SO HUNGRY!! I don't get a fill til week 6, but come hell or high Water I am following the eating rules. It is so far VERY hard, so i look forward to eating smalll portions and feeling full. Thanks for sharing your success Jill
