Well, almost a year and lost no more weight
cynpatt replied to rlynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't give up! I go to my physicians office and see the PA every 4 weeks. Sometimes I get a fill - other times just a weigh in and a talk with the nutritionist. It makes a world of difference when you reach restriction. I am there, but still need a little tweeking. If your fill doctor is not working with you - find a new one! Good luck on your journey! -
Labor Day Challenge
cynpatt replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok- rough last 2 weeks - only 1 pound down, but on the other hand, I am also very proud of my self - last week went on a cruise and lost a pound! 2 weeks left until the end of the challange - and 4 weeks to get to this mini goal - I CAN DO IT! -
Have been inching up to restriction with each fill and am finally there!:thumbup::smile2: 8 CC in a 14 CC band. Everything that I have read here on the forums has come to fruition! It took a full week after my fill to feel the restriction, I can only eat about half a cup, i have to now pay extra attention to slowing down and chewing, and I now have to really pay attention to the quality of my food (ie:protein)! I AM A HAPPY CAMPER!!! Thanks all for helping me plow through all those months of bandster hell!

Oh my! Didn't even realize it until I started losing my weight! Life is SO much easier, and I still have a far way to go. Walking, going up and down stairs, fitting in chairs, reacing places I haven't in a while - it is all so much easier and better! Good Luck - this is one of the best decision I ever made in my life:smile2:

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
cynpatt replied to NYSparklegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Lifting Chic - You are actually doing great! I was also going through a rough period, but a fill helped SO much. I am now at 8 CCs in a 14 CC band - even if I wanted to drink with my meals, I couldn't. As they say - this is no easy road we are all traveling, but if your band is not at its sweet spot, then it is just like being on a diet - and you know how far that has gotten us all in the past! If you want someone to be accountable to and to encourage you - feel free to email me. Keep up the good work. Cynthia cynpatt@yahoo.com -

Just had my first fill, a little bummed....
cynpatt replied to bigpops's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi - I also have a 14 CC band, and I wish that I could say that I achieved restriction so soon. My fills went the following way - 2.5 CC - No restriction 2.5 CC - No restriction 2.0 CC - Restriction for 2 weeks .5 CC - Currently feeling restriction after 2 weeks. I was filled every 4 weeks, and then 6 weeks between my 3RD and 4TH fills due to vacation. Although I did not have true restriction at first, I did stay satisfied between my 3 meals. I nolonger felt hungry. I just kept telling myself that I only have to "diet" for a few more weeks. Yes it was hard - yes I over ate at times. I ate smaller amouts, but foods that would satisfy me both physically and emotionally. I did cut out sweets, chips, and snacking. Keep up the good work - the elusive "sweet spot" will come. Keep posting and go to your local support group. Search for the thread that involves restriction and the 14CC band - it will give you some idea when people have reached restriction with our band. Good Luck! -

how many cc's for restriction 14cc
cynpatt replied to Alfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you all SO much for this fantastic thread! I was up at midnight reading through it all. I am currently at 7.5 or 8 (don't remember if I was at 7 or 7.5 before my last .5 CC fill) and am feeling pretty good, but not quite there as of yet. My PA said that he felt I was close, because when he inserted the needle he got some flashback upon insertion. Hopefully a little tweek at my next fill 8-23 and I will be there. We are going on a cruise on the 15TH, and although I would love a little better restriction while sailing, I also don't want to be in trouble with no access to my physician, so I have put off my fill until after I return. I do feel some restriction, so I think that I will do ok. Dan - got to this thread a little late, but wondering if you are still around how you are doing. Would also love to hear from some of the older posters who are now a few years out - how are you doing? Do you still get small adjustments? At what fill are you at now? Does restriction feel the same now a few years down the line as it did when you first reached restriction? Thanks! Cynthia -

How many pounds lost = a dress size?
cynpatt replied to Ocnlvr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't know for others - but I am down 65 pounds and have gone from a 30/32 to a 24 - so I would say 16-20 pounds sounds about right. -
14 CC Band vs Restriction
cynpatt replied to s.smith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This just makes it so much harder for you. I also have a 14CC band, and although I am just starting to get to where I need to be with the fill, I knew that with each fill I was getting closer and that it would only be a few months until I got there. I got my first 2 fills at 2.5 CC each my third at 2 CC and just got a .5 CC fill this week. I am very close. Being so far from your physician is also making it more difficult for you. I would try to discuss it with him/her again. If you make no progress on that front then just keep plugging along. You may not get to full restriction quickly, but each fill I got gave me a feeling of a little more fullness each time, and a hope that I would be reaching that special sweet spot soon. Good luck - we are all here to support you! -
Congratulations! I love it each size that I go down. What a great feeling!

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
cynpatt replied to NYSparklegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Guys, I hope that your summer is going well. It has been 4 and a half months since my lapband surgery and all is going well. Went today for my 4TH fill - .5cc - to a total of 7.5cc in my 14cc band. I have been eating too much volume lately, so hopefully this small fill will make a difference. Liquids today and mushies tomorrow, so won't know if it makes a difference for a few days. We just got back from Bermuda yesterday and although I ate quite nicely, I still lost a pound! One of the highlights of the trip though - I did not need a seatbelt extender on the airplane! The seat was actually not too bad as well! I haven't walked in 3 weeks though, due to sciatic (sp?) pain. Vacation was just what the doctor ordered! No more back pain, so tonight I am walking with my walking buddy again. Hopefully I won't be huffing and puffing too badly. I just wish it wasn't 94 degrees outside. I am giving clothing away so quickly and just love it. Down from a 34 to a 24! I have so many different sizes in my closet that I haven't had to buy anything new as of yet - a winter coat will probably be my first new item that I have to purchase. I cannot wait! I hope that everyone is losing and doing well. Cynthia -

Non/low fat ricotta cheese and tomato sauce - heat it up in the microwave - tastes just like lasagna. Yummy! Lived on it during this stage. -

New here, anyone have bmi too high for surgery?
cynpatt replied to good2u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My starting BMI was 52 - was never told it was too high for the lap band. I am 4 and a half months post surgery, and my BMI is down 9 points to 43. I love my band! Good luck to you. -

Surgery while having period?????
cynpatt replied to jln0424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep - been there - done that! I told the nurse when I got there and they told me that I had to take my tampon out ant that they would give me a pad to"hold between my legs". NO WAY! I left it in and when the anesthesiologist came in, I discussed it with her and she told me not to worry - keep my tampon in - no biggie. She said the nurses had to follow the rules, but it would in no way be an issue. I was in and out of surgery in less than 45 minutes, and on my way home 4 hours later. Good luck with your surgery!
