11 days post op and weird bump under incision - help
KLo posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I am 11 days post op and just noticed last night there is a hard bump under one of my larger incisions. There is no bump under the larger incision on the left side, just the right side. On Thursday night when I was getting into bed, I had a sharp pain in this same spot. It is about the same length as the incision and not very wide. My dr's appointment is Tuesday morning and I will definitely have him look at this. Has anyone had anything similar? Should I be worried? :help: Thanks for any help... -

Laser hair removel. Has anyone had it???
KLo replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the laser hair removal done on my lower legs and finished over a year ago. I think I had 5 treatments over a year. I noticed the most difference after the second treatment. It hurt A LOT but I bought some numbing cream that made it bearable. They keep turning up the "power" each visit. It really hurts around the toes and ankles. And it was pricey - I think my package was about $1200. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have dark, coarse hair and it was always a pain in the ass to shave my legs. I would always gets razor burn and it would grow back right away. I still have a few stray hairs but they are pretty fine and easy to shave. Also, the laser brought out "freckles" on my feet. They claimed they had never seen that before. But it is a small price to pay for being basically hair free on my lower legs. I'll do my arm pits someday. I highly recommend it. The place I went to was Sona - I think they are a chain. -
That's awesome! You are truly an inspiration!

Congrats on your 27 pound weight loss - that's great! I was juist banded last week but have been told my first fill will be about 6 weeks out. 3 months does seem like a long time. I have actually been starving for the past few days at night and couldn't imagine having to wait 3 months for my first fill. Good luck to you!

Glad you are home ok. That is kind of a scary story! Good luck with the rest of your recovery!

Surgery today - possible to "spot target" gas pain?
KLo replied to KLo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow - that explains a lot. I still have the sharp pain there and hoping it will stop soon. It has been the hardest part of my recovery. Well that and I have been HUNGRY last night and tonight. This darn liquid stage is kicking my a$$. :-) Thanks Kathy for the info. I am glad to see you are doing so well with your band! -
Surgery today - possible to "spot target" gas pain?
KLo posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone - I was banded today and feel pretty good! Other than kind of of feeling like I got kicked in the stomach, my most obvious pain is gas (I think) under my left breast. I have been walking - just got back from a walk around the block - and have taken Gas X. It really hurts when I am laying down. Does anyone now if there is way to spot target this gas pain? :help: Thanks! -
Shawn - well that is rather strange circumstances. Too bad about Dr. Sanchez. However, I am sure the replacement will be fine and you'll do great. Have a good trip!

lala - We'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I had told several friends about my surgery but because I had to be there at 5:30 am and it is about 45 minutes away, I had a friend drive me up there the night before, stayed in hotel and took a cab to the hospital. So if your hubby can't make it to the hospital, you will be fine. It goes by really quickly, I promise! You will be busy doing the pre-op stuff and then you are so out of it right after the surgery, it will feel like time has just flown by. Keep us posted on how you are doing - this is the RIGHT decision!

Thanks - I am doing ok other that I am REALLY HUNGRY. I know this is the time to heal so I am taking it as best I can.:phanvan I have had lots of friends call to check on me so that has been nice. No one is really familiar with the procedure so I have explained that I may not have restriction until my first fill.

I too have struggled with "to tell or not to tell." I live on the opposite side of the country than my family so it has been easy not to tell them. I have ongoing issues w/my mother regarding my weight and am not sure I'll ever tell her. I have some great friends where I live and I have been gradually telling more people. The support has been wonderful. I still haven't told my manager and haven't made a firm decision either way about that. My initial feelings were that I didn't want people being "the food police" if I was with them but now I am thinking I will be more accountable and have more support if my "family" of friends know. It is not like I can hide the fact the I am considerably overweight and I think my friends are happy for me that I am doing something about it. I consider myself blessed to have such great friends.

Hey Everyone - Well, I am day 3 post op and am HUNGRY. From what I have heard, this stage through the first fill is the worst. I am little jealous of the people that are already feeling restriction but I want to focus on healing at this time. I know others are in the same boat and I'll make it through. But is hard... I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the long run!

Glad to hear to hear you are doing well! Get some rest and when you wake up don't forget to walk as much as you can and sip as much water as you can.

Thanks - it is day 3 post op and I am feeling a lot better. That sharp pain is back but I am hoping it will go away. I am glad I don't have to be at work until Thursday! -

I am still feeling ok. I have had some Soup today and a Protein shake. My mouth is REALLY DRY even though I keep sipping Water. I would recommend y'all get some mints or candies to suck on. My dr said gum is not so good the first few days as it can cause air/gas. On the ride home from the hospital I was feeling kind of nauesous (sp?). The hospital had given me some alcohol strips to smell which definitely helped. The dr had given me a prescription for some anti-nausea pills but I left them at home. I wish I had taken 1 with me to the hospital. I took 1 when I came home and haven't felt sick since. In the hospital I started doing the deep breathes to clear my lungs of the anthesia right away. I really think it helps because I didn't feel groggy in the afternoon. It's good to hear everyone is doing well so far. I will keep you posted...

Hey Everyone! I had my surgery yesterday and I am doing ok. Surgery was at 7:30 am (5:30 arrival time - yikes). They did some x-rays around noon and my friend took me home at 1:30. I still feel like I have been kicked in the stomach but it is not too bad. Last night I took a walk around the block trying to get rid of the gas pains. I have a sharp gas pain under my left breast that I had thought gone away but is back. I'll write more later...

Oh enterprise01 - I am really sorry to hear about your grandma. It is hard to lose someone no matter how old they are. And I know exactly what you mean about thinking of the clothes/funeral and weight controlling every aspect of your life. Hang in there!

Thanks for the advice and kinds words. The pain under my left breast is not as sharp this morning. I will try the butt in the air thing for sure!!! -
Hey Fiyagirl, I am not banded yet but from what I have heard, the first 6 weeks is to focus on healing and recovery. THEN we can start to worry about restriction and losing. I know we are all anxious to begin but I guess now is a time for patience. Hang in there - it WILL happen! K

Irishamerican- Glad to hear things are going well (other than the port pain)!

They said it at the class I had to attend prior to surgery. It was a blanket statement for everyone. I guess I'll just see how it goes. I live alone and it would be a hassle not to be able to drive for 5 days.:rolleyes Thanks for the info!<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Hey All, Glad to hear everyone is doing well so far. Thanks for all the good tips and insights for those have been banded. Audree - as far as skin brushing goes, my friend is a physical therapist and does something similar for some of her kids. Her nephew was nervous about starting pre-school and my friend had her sister and nieces "brush" him several times a day and it really helped. I don't know the science behind it. Well, just a few short days until Wednesday and the big day. I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes. BTW - my dr said no driving for FIVE days! That seems like an awful long time for the meds to still be in my system. Does anyone else have similar restrictions on their driving post-op?
