I had problems with my band from day one. Sleeve is so much better. Weight loss isn’t as fast as far as I’m concerned but that ok...I’m still losing. No sliming, throwing up, pain etc. Lap band removal/sleeve all in one.

My surgeon required me to stay 2 nights in the hospital. First day was a little painful but certainly not the worst surgery I’ve ever been through. Make sure you get up and walk as much as possible if you’re able to and not too drugged. It prevents blood clots and helps with gas pains. Over all it wasn’t too bad. Just keep on top of the liquids and take your pain pills if needed. It was all totally worth it to get that terrible band out. It was nothing but TROUBLE!! Good luck on your surgery!!![emoji51]

Getting pregnant with PCOS
jarynty replied to TN_girl21's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I have been diagnosed with PCOS since i was 20 years old...after many infertility treatments such as clomid, injections, iui's, metformin, etc we finally conceived at the age of 36. I was extremely overweight at that time...267 has been my highest weight (non-pregnant) so i know that has alot to do with having a hard time conceiving. When my son turned a year old we tried to conceive again with the same infertility treatments...without success. So, being that I was 39 years old we decided that our family would be complete with just the three of us and I decided to stop trying and get the lapband since I was so over weight. Well, four months later and 50 lbs lighter (I got down to 191) I found out that I was pregnant...much to our disbelief. I never thought that I could get pregnant without out the help of a pill, injection or a Dr. being involved in it but it did happen. Weight loss is such a big key in controlling PCOS. Since my surgery I have been off of the metformin because of the insulin resistance and so far no signs of gestational diabetes with this pregnancy. So my advice to you is to keep up with your weight loss and healthy lifestyle and if you do need the help of infertility treatments it is very possible to conceive. I wish you tons of luck!!! -
anyone have PCOS-polycystic ovarian syndrome?
jarynty replied to Just Banded's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I have had PCOS my whole life...next month I will turn the big 40. I have a 3 year old son after many fertility treatments and we tried almost immediately for another child after he was born without success. My husband and I decided that it was only going to be the 3 of us and we were ok with that and I decided to have the lapband surgery in February of this year. In 4 months I lost 50 lbs...then the shock of our lives...I AM PREGNANT...8 weeks to be exact. No pills, no shots, no IUI's, just weight loss. Even though we are still a little numb, we couldn't be happier. So to those out there who think that there is no hope...keep praying...keep your head up and keep a positive attitude. And even if you can't get pregnant, at least you will have a healthier body and will feel so much better about yourselves and will have a better self esteem. Good luck to all of you trying to conceive...I HAVE BEEN THERE AND I KNOW YOUR PAIN.:grouphug: -
How important are the rules really?
jarynty replied to SavvyCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sole purpose of this site is to help each other with our struggles, praise each other with our achieved goals and maybe recieve some valuable information from the bandsters that have been around a while...NOT TO JUDGE PEOPLE! However, I do have to admit that the original post did irritate me somewhat because I am a self-pay bandster that had to work my tail off to get this paid for because just like many other insurance companies you have to jump through so many hoops to get approved...anyhoo... On the soda issue...I LOVE SODA...I would rather have soda than most foods, but I haven't had it since my pre-op diet in early February. It's not easy, but I choose to listen to my doctor (who has been banded himself) and I don't want to chance stretching out my pouch. On the fill issue...on the day of a fill I can only have clears only, then full liquids, then mushies then back to a regular diet on day four. Sounds brutal and sometimes it is, but I tend to swell alot after a fill and sometimes it takes me longer to get back to regular foods. If you have some form of restriction you will realize how important it is to do this...obviously you have never had a "stuck" episode and then you might realize the importance of this. Now, just because you have the lapband doesn't mean that you can't ever again have a piece of candy, cookie or whatever it is that you crave. It's all about moderation. And if someone tells you that they have never splurged and have never fallen off the waggon I would tend to wonder if they were being honest to you and to themselves. We all have done it and WE ARE ONLY HUMAN! Anyway, I hope you continue a healthy lifestyle and wish you luck in your weight loss...and with TWINS???? WOW! I have a 3 year old and can't imagine two...LOL! Good luck! Banded 2/24/10 Start 241# Current 195# Total so far 45# -
Okay, i know this question has probably been asked a million times over already...but what does restriction feel like? I was banded 2-24-10 and have lost 41 lbs...1 lb shy of of being in the 100's and i haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. Yes, i know we all go through plateau's from time to time, but when you're this close to a major goal it can be very discouraging. I am scheduled for a fill in 4 days and i am debating on whether i should go or not. It is very rare that i can eat Breakfast in the mornings because i am just too tight, so i just drink my coffee and have a Protein Shake by mid morning. By lunch time i can eat just about anything, but i am starving. By the time dinner rolls around i am famished and i eat too fast, take too big of bites or all of the above and things get stuck. So i guess my question is should i go ahead and get my 3rd fill? My dr. Said that i am just shy of having 6 cc in my band. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Does anyone eat Protein bars? Sometimes I don't get a chance to sit down to eat and I want a little more than just a Protein shake...I actually want to chew something, but I have been shopping around and the ones that I have seen have alot of protein, but also alot of calories too. I'm not even sure I would be able to get them down anyway. Any other ideas for meals on the run besides Protein shakes?

What foods can you not tolerate w/band?
jarynty replied to leroyspuds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bread and left overs of any kind...doesn't matter what it is...once you re-heat something it is too dry and WILL NOT go down. -
Is it a common sign to have diaphragm pain if you have eatten too much. I dont think that I have anything stuck, it just feels like I have over done it. I am post-op day 8 and can now have soft foods. Any information would be great. THANKS!
