I had a talk with my PCP on November 2009 about Lap Band Surgery. I was 256 at the time, and extremely concerned with my weight, which I was unable to lose. Having a family history of family diabetes and death's TO diabetes, I really thought this would be a good idea. Decemeber of that year, I was able to get my Consultation and I attended the Seminar that same day. Dr. Smith was really nice to talk to and I'll admit that I liked the idea of going to Doctor whose had the surgery done himself. Sadly, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico didn't cover ANYTHING for this Surgery so I had to take out a loan and get the surgery done in Fort Worth TX where Dr. Smith's office is (he's helping to set up a program in Albuquerque, NM, so I got to meet him in Alb the first time). Thankfully, I had a loan approved and had my surgery done on January 27th. In December, my weight had jumped to 260, the date of Surgery I weighed in at 252, and today (3-4-10) I weight 236.
