At 37, got sick of being 50 pounds overweight for 10 years...decided to do something about it before it gets harder. My back and knees were hurting and for the first time, I had borderline high blood pressure. I love the beach, the ocean, being active, but I hate the way I look and feel. I have a desk job and super busy with the kids, can't wake up at 5am to work out, so I thought I would spoil myself with a little extra help. My husband is completely against it, and wishes I would have never told him. I haven't told my family- kids, parents, etc., but I did tell my best friend who is supportive. Last week, I took the train down to the border, got picked up by OCC's driver and went to a hotel...they picked me up in the morning and went in for surgery. By 8pm, I was walking the halls, sore and tired post-surgery. They tool great care of me, and I was able to leave the next day around noon, got a ride back across the border to the train, took the train home. Yep, I did it alone and secretly (except for the unsupportive husband). Now I am 5 days post-op and down 7 pounds and hungry as hell already, been on a liquid diet and really looking forward to eating...last night I kind of blew it and had a few bites of real food that I chewed up really well...it was fine, but I am worried now. Also I feel like my abdomen is swollen and fatter than usual, and I can feel my port protruding...God I hope that goes away because it's pretty ugly and uncomfortable...but I am hoping I made the right decision and look forward to 6 months down the line when I can feel healthier.
