    Carb issues?

Hmmm, well I'm certainly no expert but in my pre-surgery information, the surgeons and providers told us that its likely we would never tolerate white flour again. They went on to elaborate, things made with white flour have a difficult time passing through. And sure enough, I was banded on 2/24 and since then I have been unable to eat tortillas, bread, and some pastas. I am sad to see those things go, but definitely will trade my future for some awesome pasta.

    Anyone in the DFW area?

Hi Amy, I'm in the Mckinney (North Dallas) area. I was recently banded (2/24/10) so I'm new to this. I don't know of any support groups in the area, I too have tried to find some. But if you need a buddy, feel free to email! rachel_l_farris@yahoo.com

    Nsv!!!!!..........

That's a great idea! I'll think I'll try that with all of my old pants/clothes that I've been hanging on to "in case" i can ever get that low again!
  4. Hi All, I was banded on 2/24/10. I have lost 15 lbs from my highest ever weight so far (including preop diet). My surgeon is Dr. Benavides in Dallas, Tx. A little about myself: I am a 27 year old 'sole provider' of two young children. My son is 3 years old, my daughter is 2 years old. My soulmate went to wait for me in heaven in November of 2008. I am doing this for my children, and for me...and so I can be proud of the way my life went after my husband past away. I want him to be proud of me when I get to see him again. I have well over 100 lbs to lose, but I am mostly looking for being healthy for my children, and ensuring that they never miss out on anything just because I am a 'sole provider' and too tired or lazy. I look forward to making lots of friends here, and I am truly inspired by the stories I have seen. Hopefully I'll be one of them soon!
  5. Wow worker, that's great! What I wouldn't give to be a size 10/12 again!!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high...but I have lots of hope, and I definitely know that I must take the responsibility to make my band work, its not magic.
  6. Thanks Leigha! I will definitely pick some of this up this weekend and give it a try! I'm not looking forward to the 'mushies' phase, because it seems like mostly unhealthy things are the ones that you can eat during that time....creamy soup, mashed potatos, macaroni...argh. I would love to eat a salad or something. Oh well, in due time i guess.
  7. Yes, I'm still on the liquid diet (for 10 days post surgery, which will be this Sunday). I'm allowed clear liquids, protein shakes, nonfat yogurt and sugar free pudding. My calorie intake has been between 600-800 per day on the liquids... its not TOO bad, but sometimes i feel like i could kill someone for a bite to chew on!
  8. Congrats to us Bandaide! You are doing soo well!! I hope I can catch up! :scared2:) Looking forward to watching us shrink!
  9. Leigha, That is so encouraging! thank you for sharing! I know that 15 lbs down in 3 weeks (from start of preop diet) is pretty good, so I should stop complaining but sometimes its easier to say and harder to do. Looking at the folks on this site and their fantastic results is what keeps me going while my stomach is growling!:scared2: Denise, Congratulations! I would love to be one of your band-buddies. best of luck, hope your success continues!
  10. Hi!! Wow, your success Pre-band is amazing! Honestly, the only way I can tell that I have the band is by all of my pain and bruising..haha. I'm still on liquids, but I feel hungry almost all the time. I am one week post op, and I have not lost any additional weight from the date of my surgery and its kind of discouraging. But I'm sticking to Drs orders. I know it will come off with time, and especially after a fill. How are you feeling?
