Vagus nerve suspect in gastroparesis after banding
ThinSIstaSoon replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My bf was recently diagnosed with gastroparesis and the treatment for it is surgery and/or eating 6 small meals per day along with anti nausea medication...so my bf and I have a lot in common with the band. I have to eat 3 small meals but not drink with them, etc. Most people that have gastroparesis have and get it from untreated high blood sugars so knowing that I would question whether the band causes this chronic illness, especially when it sounds like the band would help someone with the illness. I'm glad your father feels better, I can relate too well to ur post, but I'd make sure his blood sugars are and stay in range. My bf is type II but was put on an insulin pump due to his diagnosis of gastroparesis. Goodluck! -

Rg, thanks for your encouragement! Its crazy how bad I feel before hearing about others issues. I hate that we go thru this but it sure is nice to know I'm not alone! The ticker is tricky...to be honest I haven't updated mine for quite some time cuz I don't remember how! I know there's a post on the board with instructions...we'll have to both read that one! Lol Thanks again for the encouragement!!!

my port came lose
ThinSIstaSoon replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very likely. I had sex at 3 weeks post op and no restriction was given to me, but i think mine was from exercising before the 6 weeks was up. Not sure though. -
My port flipped so no fill for me until 6 weeks post op at least...need insurance to approve another surgical procedure first! This is not how I wanted this all to go!

Fast fill - 1 month after surgery
ThinSIstaSoon replied to stratcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Bandster hell and hate it cuz 4 weeks post op I went in for a fill and found out my port has flipped over! Have to wait another 2+weeks for ins approval for another surgical procedure...I'm pissed! -
I went for my first fill and my port has flipped all the way over! Now I have to wait two more weeks for approval for another surgical procedure!!!

Thanks! The nurse called me today and said my surgery is cancelled now because they need pre authorization from my insurance company...again! So, I'm being forced to be patient...but I've dieted before for a month straight, so I'll do it again! The difference is at the end of this month I'll be filled hopefully! This is not going like I want...I'm fat because I'm not patient! I want it and I want it now. I guess that's a topic to discuss with my therapist in a week...lol
-
I get my first fill this coming Mon- March 7th and can't wait! I've been eating real food for 3 weeks and am starting to gain weight! I don't like it one bit! I know I have to get better at my portions and need the bands help at this point! My jeans are getting too loose though!

Lap Band or Realize Band - Why did you choose yours?
ThinSIstaSoon replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon preferred the realize band so that's what I went with. -
I'm going on a cruise once I lose 100 lbs!

Welcome and my bf of 7 yrs found out how much I weighed during my consulting visit too! How embarrassing but he's more supportive know-how so it was worth it! Good luck on all of the pre stuff. Banded 2-1-11 down 18 lbs...first fill 3-7-11!!! Can't wait for "chewy" (my band's name) to get fat so I can get skinny!

Good one djb!!!

Feeling great, but...
ThinSIstaSoon replied to rhya2k's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had yogurt during my pre op liquid phase and then 2 wks after surgery which was Dr recommended. By week 3 I was on solids. Just chewing a lot more than I used to and really enjoying my food now! I did gain 2 lbs once going back to solids but have since lost those. 19 lbs down since pre op diet/surgery which was Feb 1st. First fill is March 7th. I had my first episode with feeling my food get "stuck" then about a minute later go through the band, and it was not a good feeling but kinda cool to finally feel my band work! I usually have a protein shake for breakfast but am away from home so I had an egg omelet, banana, and two sausage links. I ate about 5 bites of the omelet, both sausage links, and felt full up in my chest....so I stopped and waited for the nausea/pressure to pass. I am telling u all of this because until now I didn't know if what I was eating was ok really, but my doc said it's trial and error 3 wks post op. I def know I did something wrong, either too big of bites, the sausage doesn't agree with me anymore, or maybe I'm not good with solid breakfasts. I think u should try things and if it fills u up with no issues, it's golden! Follow your drs orders as much as u can too! I know others on here have stated breakfast is a time they are tight, so I didn't feel panicked when I had my experience. Listen to ur fellow banders on here! They are amazing! -
