Driving myself 3 hours to my surgery
MrMom replied to MrMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
today TE=kgvic;1470139]Hi, I have my surgery on Saturday 29th May. I am being driven to the hospital bt a driver from the Hospital but still is a 2 and a half hour drive! I am in England and am having it done privatley as I heard that there is a 28 yr waiting list on the NHS (national health service) I hope all goes well for you. Good luck with the drive. When do you have yours done then? xx -
That makes 3 of us. I'm a little nervous, but I'm hoping I'm super tired in the morning, so I can sleep and not worry about the surgery. Good luck to both of you and anyone else getting banded tomorrow.
-
A little nervous....but not as much as before. If anyone else is being banded this day...I hope my day goes like yours.
-
Anyone else use this system?? The first couple of days of the diet went fine...during the day. Didn't get hungry all day. But at night...I got some really bad headaches and was extremely hungry. I almost thought I was going to faint. So those couple of nights I had some solid food. I didnt pig out. I felt bad enough eating food, so i just at 1 slice of pizza each night. And every day after that I felt normal, during the day. No hunger or headaches. Tonight was the first night I had no headaches or experienced any serious hunger. So here I am finishing my tomato soup, with no hunger whatsoever. I hope the coming days are just as easy.

I'm already planning on staying the night at the hospital.. good luck to you childgod...I'll be thinking of you while I"m in my hospital room. -
Pre Op consultation tomorrow and surgery is for May 27th
MrMom posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm both excited and nervous. Tomorrow I'll be missing my youngest daughters last track meet of the year and my 8th graders graduation on the 27th. That sucks. So I'll be at the hospital alone, since my wife will be attending both of these events. Anyone go through it alone before? -
my wife is about 2 weeks post op... I guess she tried some pasta salad ( I know, I know), now shes been vomiting for the past few days. I told her to call the surgeon in the morning. anyone else have vomiting post op.. and what might cause this.

Time off work after being banded.

My wife is a nurse in an ER...she tried going to work 2 days after surgery and got swollen ankles and feet as a result. she took the next night off and went to work the next day and was fine, just a little sore. -
How did you find out you were approved
MrMom posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife is about 10 days post op and she was notified by the surgeons office. Then we received written notice from our insurance some days later. I got my approval letter in the mail on Friday, but have not heard from the surgeons office. I'm hoping to be banded by the end of May. -
Finally Nervous.. 2nd thoughts
MrMom replied to monkeymama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have some similiar fears and concerns. I'm not thrilled about being exposed in my "entirety" and have thoughts about not waking up from the surgery. But I'm thinking more about the positive things that will come from this and they far outweight the negatives. -
I'm done supporting my wife.....she has no interest in sustaining her pre op diet. I'm convinced she has too many bad influences outside our home and I can't compete with that. So from this point on , I'm not in this with her. I really wish we got approved at the same time, so we could go through this together.

jaymie...thats a wonderful suggestion. I should try that.

Its her 3rd day of her pre-op diet and I wouldn't stop at Mcdonalds for her, so she could get some fries. Everyone else I know cheated on their diet she said.

Tomorrow is day 6 pre-op and I have to fix Easter Dinner for 20
MrMom replied to BusyMom1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can tough it out. I know all about being the cook and being on a diet, its hard but not impossible. Remember you can taste the food , but you dont have to swallow it. -
Apparently humor doesn't show itself very well in a typed message. My wife is well aware of what I mentioned on here. I even asked her to read what peoples replys were. As for wondering how she'd feel, perhaps you could ask her yourself. texanchick24

I hope she doesn't read any of this....I 100% agree with you kiwiluver. I told her if you can't make it 2 weeks without giving in, how are you going to make it after surgery. I do know its possible to gain weight by eating the wrong things. I do worry about how she'll handle it, because she does have poor eating habits, such as constant snacking of junk food. And actually I was hungry when we drove by too, I could've easily stopped and gave in, but I myself am in the pre-op stages of the Lap Band. I'm just waiting on medical records and approval from our insurance.

Don't cheat either , or I'm telling.:frown:

Has anyone ever cheated on the pre-op diet
MrMom replied to shae2405's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife will start her preop diet tomorrow...Optifast. It will be a learning experience to see how she handles it. I'm hoping it will help me when I go through it. -
Thanks for all the responses. I'm just trying to get a perspective on what might or might not happen.

How hungry do you get after the surgery....like the 1st week, month and few 3 or 4 months. Does everyone experience something different. Im wondering if it plays with your mind when your really hungry and get upset when you can only eat a small bit of food. When you get full does it still feel like the fullness presurgery. Are you able to eat to that feeling of ..Oh man I shouldn't have taken those last few bites.

My wife is getting banded on the 14th with her preop diet starting on the 2nd of April. I was really hoping that we could go through this together. At least I'll be able to see the process before I go through with it. I hope it doesn't scare me too much...I've never had surgery before.
-
Thats good information to know, about not recommended for both of us to go through it at the same time. It makes sense. Jealous wasn't the word I was thinking of, I was just hoping that we could get approved at the same time and do it together. My approval is just waiting on my medical records, once the doctor has those. I guess its just a matter of a week or so. I don't know why they need the records for though. I've only been to the doctor a few times in the last so many years. A couple for strep throat and one for a sore elbow.

60 Day Liquid Diet - Countdown
MrMom replied to lightnhealthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have to buy from the doctor or will they discuss other options for purchasing the shakes. It will cost $200 from the doctors office for 2 weeks worth of those things...thats kind of expensive.
