    1st fill blues

I had surgery on May 27th. Had good restriction all the way through June. By the beginning of July I was getting hungry, but could not get away from work. I had my first fill today, doesn't feel too much different right now. I had coffee cups of cream soup and about 6 triscuit crackers. Feeling full now. We'll see how it goes tomorrow, when I eat some real food. I hope to get that good restriction like I had before, with just a small amount of food for meals.

    1st fill today

I had another cup of soup and a few triscuit crackers. I'm comfortably full now. I hate liquids, I think the crackers did the job for me, making me not hungry.
  3. I had 5.4 cc in 10cc band, and now am at 6.4. What could I expect as far as fullness and staying full? Looking forward to feeling like I did 3 weeks ago, where I'd eat very small portions and stay full for hours. Just finished a cup of cream soup, it was good. Soft foods tomorrow.
  4. I'm assuming thats where your port is. Mine hurt for a little more than a week. I had my surgery on May 27th and it only itches a little now.
  5. If I'm not having hunger for 3-4 hours after I eat, is there any reason to have a fill at all? I'm almost 3 weeks post op.
  6. Boost is pretty good and so were the Optifast shakes.
  7. Going to a movie today, and might get a small bag.

    Eating Out???

My first real meal 8 days after my surgery, was at Red Lobster. I ordered the 2 choices meal, the Shrimp Scampi and the fried fish, a baked potato. I ate one piece of the fish, 3 shrimps and half the baked potato. I made sure and chewed real well and had no problems. I just was a little nervous, because it was my first meal. Not the wisest of food choices, but couldn't even come close to finishing it all.
  9. I think the most important rule here is moderation. I cheated on my pre op diet, in moderation. I had ate real food a few times and had some beers during my pre op phase. Did I survive the surgery, Yes. During my post op, it is easier to follow, because Im not hungry all the time. I moved myself onto solid foods 8 days after surgery, because the liquids didn't satisfy me anymore. I now eat very, very small portions and stop when I'm full. I premeasured my foods in the beginning, but now I'm comfortable what amounts of food I can finish, without overeating. Best of luck on your journey.

    Banded June 1st

Today has been 1 week since I was banded , and I too thought it was very easy to get full on so little food. 2 days ago, I couldn't finish 8oz of soup. I think with the band settling and with the swelling going down, its now easier to eat that 8oz of soup. The full feeling isn't lasting as long as a few days ago, but I do still not feel hungry for quite some time after I have my yogurt, pudding, soup or shake. I have one of these 3 or 4 times a day. Just some information. The first day or 2 after surgery, I had to practically force myself to eat, because I did not feel hungry at all.

    UGHH, I'm Dizzy! HELP!

I'm on my 5th day post op. My diet consists of 3 meals. In any combination, a low fat sugar free yogurt, 6-8 oz of cream Soup, low fat pudding Optifast shake. Sometimes I mix in some watered down juice too, to go with my Water I'm drinking. I guess I never realized it till today either, but maybe I have dizzy spells too. Not sure if its in my mind, but I kinda feel woozy maybe. I was getting on the elevator at work today and experienced it. It wasn't the , I'm gonna pass out or fall down woozy , but it definately felt strange.
  12. I'm not even sure if I have anything in my system to come out. I was on Clear liquids the day after my surgery. Yesterday and today I had 1/4 c of cream of wheat, 1/4 c. of Optifast shake , 8 oz of cream Soup, another shake and a fat free yogurt and a watered down apple juice. Today I had 1/2 cup cream of wheat, 1/4 c. optifast shake. lunch I had 8oz of cream soup and the rest of my optifast shake. going to wait to have supper, which will probably be another fat free yogurt and some diluted juice. I also mixed in some Protein powder in with my Soups. Oops and lots of sips of Water.
  13. Anyone else have to drive themselves? I plan on spending the night at the hospital and then getting a hotel room the next night, then driving home. I hope I'm up to it. Good luck to anyone else having surgery today.
  14. I didnt have to drive myelft back home. My wife got a friend to drive, since she just got off the graveyard shift at the hospital we work at. Although I probably could have made the drive myself, I'm glad I didnt have to.
  15. I was banded on 5/27/10. I got up at 4am, made the 3 hour drive to the hospital. I went through some paperwork and then went upstairs to my room. I got changed. They took my weight. I think I lost 10lbs on the Optifast diet. I followed it about 90%. It was really hard to stick to it. I then went to the pre op room. Where a few nurses came in and talked to me about what was going to happen. I got a visit from the chaplain as well. The nurse came in and started my IV and then I got a briefing from the anesthiesiologist. I got my first dose of Heparin( blood thinner) It was a little past 10 am at this point. The last time I looked at the clock was about 10:15. I was then wheeled off to surgery. I was a little intimidated because they wheeled me right into the OR. I was surprised , I thought I'd be sleeping by now. I mentioned to the anestheisoligist I was nervous. He offered me some kind words and then put a "mild tranquilizer" in my IV, as he put it. I was then told to breath deeply into an oxygen mask. Next thing I know i'm waking up in the recovery room. I had the worst cotton mouth you could imagine. It was very hard to take deep breaths as told by the nurse. She wet my lips and my tongue with a sponge and that felt great. The tape they closed my eyes with during the surgery, peeled some of the skin off my eyelids. I have sensitive skin. After about 30 minutes in there, they brought me back to my room. I laid down for a while and about 1:30 took my first walk. It felt good, but I felt a little woozy still. I had a clear liquid tray about 5pm. I walkd a few more times then went to sleep. I'm still a little tender and its difficult getting in all the fluids I need, because I always have a full feeling. I'm still taking the Lortab elixer, for any little pain that I'm having. I can finally lay down on my bed instead of sitting up and sleeping.
