Two weeks out and no restriction?
njrees replied to broadway's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt restriction initially after my first few fills, but it only lasted a week or 2. The feeling lasted longer on my last fill up to 5.5cc's. I was just increased up to 6.5c's. My Dr. said this is normal and when I get to the optimal fill point the feeling will "last". I did notice after the first couple of fills that I needed to be more careful about chewing my food well. -
What was the most difficult to get used to post-op?
njrees replied to Lch8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eating slowly and not drinking with my meals. -
High protein, low carb, low fat. Keep porportions down 2-4oz. I do "MY Fit Foods" during the week. I buy the smalls that is 2 meals. I am 2 months out and have lost 33lbs.

I bought a Magic Bullet blender. Love that thing. I freeze skim soy milk in ice cube trays. I add vanilla whey powder, a few frozen milk cubes and natural peanut butter. Very good. I also use Syntax Nectar powder with fruit for smoothies.

1 Month Banded and Uncomfortable
njrees replied to mrslamica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/2 and just now got off puree stage after my first fill. If I eat too fast and/or do not chew well I get pains in my upper stomach area and feel like the food is stuck in my esophagus. -
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Doing it is just as irresponsible as bragging about it. Hope you haven't set yourself up for any future complications.

how do your spouses feel about your choice?
njrees replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My partner was not exactly happy about my choice, but has been very supportive. She did ask, "what if I gain a lot of weight"? "Will you still want me when you are thinner"? I gave her the same response I got when I first brought up getting a LapBand. "I will love you no matter what". My choice was about me and how I felt about myself. -
I do not like the taste of sweet "milky" protien drinks. I use Syntrax Nectar Whey powder. 1 scoop in a bottle of water gets me 23g of protien, 0 carbs, 0fats. The Fuzzy Navel flavor is good. I sip thru 3 bottles a day and get my daily protien and water requirements.
