I haven't posted in a while. I have lost a total of 55lbs. I am now 188 lbs. My goal is to be about 140. The last few months have been slow, but since my last fill about a week ago I can't seem to keep any solid food down. Although I can have smoothies and protein shakes and protein bars.:unsure:I am hesitant to go back to the doctor for an un-fill since I am losing again. Has anyone else been through this?

Now that I am healing I find I am also getting hungrier. Is this normal. I followed my diet exactly today, making sure I had enough protien, water, etc. and my stomach was growling! I don't get my first fill for three weeks, I though you were supposed to feel less hungry. :wink2:

I was doing so well in the beginning and managed to lose 33 lbs. but I seem to have stalled and keep gaining and losing the same 1 1/2 lbs. It's very frustrating!! It's been ten days since my first fill and I don't feel any restriction at all. I feel like I could eat a HORSE! I'm beginning to think I should have had the bypass. Someone tell me it will get better!!!

Gastric problems after first fill
Cathiejcc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first fill on Tuesday, 5 ccs. Since then I have been having tummy problems... VERY gassy (and not burping, coming from the other end) and my stomach keeps making gurgling sounds kind of like hunger rumblings, but this is AFTER I eat. Has anyone else experienced any symptoms like these?? -
Yes, you need protien, protein, protein> I find I am less hungry and lose more weight. I use the protein powder and add it to my food.

I am 25 days post-op and getting very frustrated. Although I've lost 27 lbs. so far including 10 pre-op, I seem to be stuck, gaining and losing the same 1/2 pound since Monday. I don't understand is since I am doing everything right, exercise, diet, protein, etc. Has anyone else gone through this?? (I get my first fill on Tuesday):cursing:

Don't be too hard on yourself, the purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver and get you used to thinking about your food choices. A lot of us slip. Good luck with your surgery. I am three weeks post surgery and down 25 lbs. (10 pre-op) and very happy with my decision.

I weighed myself this morning 218 lbs, I have lost 25 lbs so far including the pre-op. Was hungry again today, but I've noticed that when I do not have the protein shakes for snacks I get more hungry. P.S. Diet jello with a tsp. of fat free cool whip is my favorite evening snack. I still have two weeks until my first fill.

Tomorrow will be one week since I got my band. :thumbup:After a false start (I was supposed to go in on March 29, and was postponed for two weeks because the Dr. heard a wheeze.) I was a little discouraged. After one week I feel good, I've lost 20 lbs. (including the 10 I lost on the pre-op diet which I had to continue for an add'l two weeks after I was postponed) I have to say I was not as diligent the second two weeks on pre-op diet, in fact I had two "last" dinners! I feel a little sore, but better each day. The biggest problem this week has been boredom since I am used to working, and I was not even able to walk my dogs. Tomorrow I go back to work for a few hours. I also have to say my friends and co workers have been VERY supportive which has meant a lot. My husband has also been very helpful and supportive. I think my biggest problem so far has been getting enough protein, and I wonder if I am eating enough. I find it tough to drink two protein drinks a day as recommended so I am adding protien powder to the foods I've been eating, 1/2 cup of protien for breakfast and about 1/4 - 1/2 cup of soup twice a day. I am not hungry, but get very gassy after I eat.

Hope everything went well with your surgery, the first few days are the hardest, but you'll be up and around soon.

Hello all. I am getting banded on May 17th 2010. I am sooooo scared ... HELP!!
Cathiejcc commented on Budrita's blog entry in Blog 91290
Hi Dana I was banded on April 12. There is really nothing to be scared about. I was a little nervous about the anesthesia, the last thing I remember after the gave me the anesthesia was, "Oh boy thus stuff isn't working" the next thing I knew I was in recovery and needing to go to the bathroom. The post op pain wasn't too bad either, they gave me painkillers in the hosp. and just tylenol when I got home. Try to relax and GOOD LUCK! -
are you eating enough protein? I was also hungry after my first week, but I find that eating enough protein makes a big difference, I started adding the whey protein powder to whatever I was eating.

How long after surgery till your appetite returned?

I was banded on April 12, and have been feeling hungry the past two days. Today I made sure I had enough protien and water and my stomach was actually growling. I had my first BM since the surgery yesterday, maybe that's why I'm hungry now. -

:wink2::confused:It is eleven days since my surgery, and generally I have been very happy with my progress. I have not been hungry at all until today. I don't know if it was because I did not have enough protein, but I felt hungry between lunch an dinner. I am also a little concerned because there seems to be a lump where the port is. Is this normal??

What are you eating? Are you eating enough protein, that's what makes you feel full.

Has anyone had there port flip???
Cathiejcc replied to oceancity4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 9 days post op and the Dr thinks my port might have flipped, I am having pain and swelling in my right side, he told me to just take it easy until my first fill which is in three weeks -
