  1. Happy 43rd Birthday mrsboomer!

  2. I was banded on Feb. 8th and have lost 41 pounds so far with no fill yet. But, I have been having a problem with always feeling "stuck or too full" after I eat and it is so frustrating. I have been trying to be extra good with what I am eating and how much and chewing really well but nothing is helping. When it happens, it feels horrible. It's been lasting like 2-3 hours or so and I have tried to make myself vomit (which doesn't work), walking, stretching, burping but nothing works. I am miserable and am not sure what to do. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, what works?
  3. Hi well I was banded on Feb. 8th and have had many complications since then. I have managed to lose 41 pounds as of last week but have not had a fill yet due to the complications of 3 of my incisions opened up shortly after surgery and are just finally closing 10 weeks later! I am only able to walk due to the incisions but I have been walking about 3 miles about twice a week. My major problem right now is that I am feeling like stuck or too full whenever I eat anything! It is so frustrating and it feels horrible. Good luck to all of the other February bandsters! Seems like everyone is doing good with weight loss.

    Anyone from Massachusetts?

I am so sorry to hear about the latest news for you Kimholmes. I am sure you will do good with whichever surgery you decide to do. Good luck.

    Any February 2010 Bandsters!!!!!!

I was banded on Feb. 8th and have lost 31 pounds so far. I have had some complications with my incisions but otherwise I am doing ok as far as eating, etc. I have not had a fill yet, I am not due for one until March 31st. I am still on the stage 4 diet (pureed/ground foods). How is everyone else doing with their diets?

    Newly Banded

I was banded on 2/8/10. I too cheated in the beginning. I got sick at the sight of yogurt, cheese, puddings and soups and broths. I was on that diet (stage 3) for 2 1/2 weeks. It was hell. I was dreaming of real food something to just chew. And, i did try my kids nuggets, mashed potatoes and eventually I ate Campbell's chicken noodle soup and mashed the noodles and it tasted delicious! It was so hard to watch tv and cook for my family when I wasn't "allowed" to eat anything that I could chew. So, I completely understand where you are coming from. It does get easier. I am now on stage 4 of the diet which is pureed/ground foods. It is much easier and so far I have lost 31 pounds in the first 3 weeks after surgery. Good luck. You can do it.

    Boston dude

Congratulations on your decision! I was just banded in Boston on Feb. 8, 2010 and have lost 31 pounds so far! It is a huge decision. But, I am so happy I did it. I live near Cape Cod, MA and if I can be of any support, please let me know. This website is awesome. Everyone is honest and very supportive. Good luck.

    Anyone from Massachusetts?

I, too, am from the Cape Cod area. Glad to hear you are doing well.
  10. I was banded on Feb. 8, 2010 and was done at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and was wondering if there is anyone else out there from Massachusetts who was recently banded, too? I am interested in some support for one another...let me know thanks.
  11. Hi I would recommend calling your surgeon tomorrow. I was banded on Feb 8th 2010 and 3 of my 5 incisions have opened up and are also draining. I do not need more surgery as of now but at any moment may need to do so if they become infected or open up any further. I too have drainage coming out. My surgeon has told me that if the drainage is white and thick that is a sign of infection and also has me keeping them covered with dry bandages and tegaderm over the gauzes. I took an antibiotic for one week. My surgeon has to keep cleaning my incisions out every 7 days until they close. I would recommend calling your surgeon and letting him know what is going on. I do not know if it is your port incision but if that becomes infected then they have to go in and disconnect the port and take it out. It is very serious. My port incision is one of the opened incisions but we are just waiting and watching. As of now, mine are not infected. We are waiting to see if they open up anymore. Hoping that I will not have to have any more surgery. So, please be careful and call your surgeon. Good luck.

DAY 7 - not doing so good

it does get easier! It was day 8 for me that was a really tough day and spent most of the day crying! But, it does get better! What is the worst part, so far? I am now 3 weeks post op and have lost 31 pounds so far. It does get easier. You can do it.

    Pizza

I am glad to hear that you were able to eat pizza. I find that I am able to eat homemade pizza easier than from a pizza shop. I find just taking small bites and chewing a lot really helps. I also don't eat the crust. Good luck. By the way, we live close by one another!!
  14. Hi I was banded on Feb. 8th 2010 and I have lost 28 pounds so far. I just started eating last Wednesday, some pureed food and I am nervous to get weighed. Even though I cannot eat much I am still nervous. I am sure you are fine. I was told the weight doesn't fall off as quickly with the band as it does with the bypass. You sound like you are doing fine to me. Keep up the good work and it was worth doing it. You will be much healthier for your one year old now! Good luck.

    2 days post-op

Take it easy and it does get better! I had my surgery on Feb. 8th. I have lost 28 pounds so far. Just remember, to drink and get your protein. It sounds like you may have some gas and that is why you are sore in your back, shoulders, neck and upper arms. I had that the first few days and walking around your house will help that to move. You will feel better with each day. Congratulations on your Lap band!
