  1. I have used Dr Quiroz in Mexico and he was amazing his staff all spoke English and it was safe and the surgery results were great
  2. Do it! I weighed 283# and now almost 4 years and a lot of hard work later,I weigh 142#. It does take commitment . you have to follow the diet and excercise. I am 52yo and my only regret is I didn't do it ten years ago.
  3. Happy 51st Birthday baptistthom!

    What am I doing wrong?

Amey hang in there, this is Idaho in a couple of weeks it will be swelting outside and think how much more weight we will lose. I was banded on April 26th and know exactly how you feel. I am praying my first fill with help with this hunger. It is so hard counting calories and watching the scale not move.

Bandster Hell for the April Bunnies

So glad I found your thread I was beginning to think my band was a failure! I am two weeks post op and am starving. I am on mushies but 1/2 cup of watery oatmeal is not even touching my hunger. You can hear my stomach growling from across the room. I seem to do ok at work but the evening time is the worse. I am trying to work out later to avoid these evening munchies. I could really go for pizza but am scared of nurse in the doctor's office. She watches that scale like a hawk
  6. Hey loppylee are you getting nervous? Monday is almost here! I got my pre op call from the hospital and now I am getting excited and nervous. Good luck on monday let me know how you do so we can compare notes

    EMERGENCY! Need advice!!

Wait thats the story I'm using. Poor gallbladder being blamed for everything. Tell them you are being treated for an urinary tract infection, alcohol needs to be avoided to ensure antibiotics potency. Then you can tell them it leaves more alcohol for them. I'm on the pre op diet and no alcohol so at a business function(cocktail party) this week and asked the bartender to give me club soda in a cocktail glass with an olive and i just carried that around all night. Good luck
  8. Purplelover I too am doing self pay but I am curious if they charged you more for the hernia repair? I have to pay everything up front so I worried something might happen to change the price. I am getting banded a week from today and am getting worried about every little thing. Probably from the lack of calories. this pre op diet is killing me
  9. Sunnysandy have you asked cpap company to fit you for a different mask? maybe they could switch you to just a nasal cpap i heard that is more comfortable. Hang in there, once we are skinny there will be no more need for cpap!
  10. Good luck to all of you on the 14th! I will be banded on the 26th of April. I was wondering what these protein shots you are talking about? By the way I am a nurse too, do you think they should of told us in nursing school that nursing adds to weight gain. All that food laying laying around on the break table it seems I was skinny and 20 and I blinked my eyes and am fat and forty! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers on the 14th. dont forget to let us know how you are doing so we know what to expect
  11. Hang in there. I had my "last meal" every meal for about 3 weeks before I truly committed to the pre op diet. I kept thinking this would be the last time I ate pizza etc. I finally decided if I keep going that way it truly may be my last meal. I am on day 5 of the 700 cal/day diet and I think it is getting easier. Exactly 2 weeks to lap band day!!
  12. Congratulations on starting your journey! are you excited? I am excited but feeling pretty lethargic from this 700 cal pre op diet. Make sure you write down all your questions before you go see the surgeon, I forgot everything I wanted to ask once I got there. luckily I found this site that answers just about all my questions. Best of luck to you
  13. Wow your day sounds busy. I am jealous because your surgeon allows you coffee and carbonated drinks! Mine has made me give up all caffeine and carbonated beverages. It is hard enough with the 700 cal diet pre op diet but to give up diet soda is a sacrifice. Good luck Newmecoming on your surgery, make sure you let us know how you are doing and any advice you want to pass along. I am trying to keep busy working, cleaning the house etc to keep my mind off food and focused on how great this is going to be. No fatty liver is todays motto.
  14. Hey did they discuss "dry eating" at your meeting? I am trying to practice the not drinking 20 min before or after a meal and no fluids witha meal but that part is hard. I think I have read every web site and discussion forum before i committed to banding. 2 and 1/2 weeks to go, I better keep practicing I refuse to fail at this.
