Thanks for the directions, Paigey! Sometimes I think someone should lead me around by the hand.LOL. I wish I was closer so that I could be involved with my fellow banders. It takes about an hour and forty-five minutes to get to Atlanta from here. That's why I won't be able to go to the nutrition classes that Emory has once a month. There is NO way I would travel around there at night!! It's bad enough in the daytime (ha! ha!). I am a small town girl. But thanks for the thought. I'm sure there will be many that woill love to be in a good group. I will be banded on 10/18. I am so ready. I appreciate any advice anyone can give me to make this journey easier. I really enjoy reading everyone's thoughts. Thank you again.

:thumbup:Finally!! A 'sixties' group and I learned today that I will be banded on 10/18! I am so ready.:lol2::biggrin: I love to read everyone's posts. It seems like I learn something new with every post I read. Keep the advice coming. I have a friend that was banded about two years ago and I try to listen to what she says. She did tell me a secret for whaen something gets 'stuck'. Sip on pineapple juice (6 oz.). It will take a little while, but it will work. Thank you all for being here. It really makes a difference.

Hello! It's me. I went to see my surgeon yesterday. My date is set for 10/18. I wish it was last week.lol....She and her staff are very nice and answer any quirky question I might have. I will be on Slim Fast for one week before surgery! I'm shocked!! The nutritionist said it would be clear liquids for two weeks before surgery. Hello....Which reminds me...Did you have to pay extra and separate for the nutritionist? My fee is $600!! And insurance doesn't cover it. Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm still in sticker shock! I would appreciate any advice. I hope you all are doing well with the surgeries. Please let me hear from you. It is very comforting to know I;m not alone.

Hello to all! I am looking for anyone that has been banded, or will be, banded at Emory in Atlanta.:thumbup: I feel the need to talk with someone. I go tomorrow (9/22) to see the surgeon and set up my surgery date. I'm getting nervous. :blink:Help!

Welcome! I am from Alabama, too! Just a little town on the Georgia line. You are ahead of lots of us! I wish I had already had my surgery. Hi! my name is Pat (PitPat) and I noticed that you are from Decatur, Ga. I am using Dr. Srinivasan at Emory University and was curious who you are using. I live in Alabama, on the Georgia line. I'm 64 yrs. young (lol) and hope to have my surgery in the next few weeks. I go Wenesday (9/22) to set up the surgery date. I can't help but be a little nervous, but I am ready to change my life for the better. I would love to hear more about your experience getting to this point. Thank you so much for filling me in. I know I am a LOT older than you (64) but I can learn a lot from you. Did you have to go to the Nutrition Class? What did you think about it? I was not impressed. I guess I had my hopes set too high, but everything the girl talked about, I had already read on the internet. There is so much information out there. Oh, did you have to pay the $600.00?
Tell me more about yourself, if you don't mind. I am married (nearly 47 yrs.), I have 3 grown children, 5 grandchildren and my grand-daughter and her husband will make us Great-Grandparents tomorrow! I am very involved in all their lives and enjoy them to the hilt!! Anyway, that's my life and I love it!

Hi Paigey! My name is Pat and we have the same surgeon! I am thrilled! I was beginning to think I was the only one that was using her and I was a little worried. Do you know when your surgery might be? I see her on 9/22 for the surgery set-up. I've had all the pre-op tests but it took until yesterday to get them all faxed to the office. I live in Alabama...right on the Georgia line. In fact , if I walk about two blocks down, I can stand in West Point, Ga and Lanett, Al. You are lucky to be so close to the surgeon. If you will, let me hear more about you and when you are having surgery. I look forward to hearing from you. Pat

I will be praying for you and I know you will do fine. I look forward to hearing from you 'after' the surgery. I am sixty-four years 'young' so I am really interested in those bandsters that are over fifty (and sixty). Try not to worry...just dream of the day you are slim. God be with you and the surgeon. -

Thank you for posting about Dr. Srinivasan. I have just finished all the required testing and nutrition class and hope to hear a date next week. Can you tell me how you are doing now? And how many fills you've had? What is the cost of each fill? I have so many questions and I am thrilled to hear of someone that has used this doctor. Thank you for all the info you can give me.
