    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Does anyone have thyroid issues? I do, and was wondering what others are doing about their thyroid. I started out with Grave's disease and then they gave me radioactive iodine. FUN......... When the thyroid bottomed out, I started on synthroid. I've been taking synthroid for a little over twenty-five years. I'm wondering...Now what?! If you have any ino on it, let me know. Thanks to all, PitPat:wink:

The SF Jello really helps but I guess I want to bite something....it's a mind thing. Thanks for the suggestions. if you have any more, just let me know. I do appreciate any advice I can get.

:grouphug: I bet if you look at all the clothing catalogs, that pain will be easier to withstand! LOL.... It is sooo encouraging to hear that it is bearable. I know they say it is not as bad as childbirth, but it has many, many years since I have given birth. And the memory does fade. I'm looking to you to know that I will survive. My husband is having a very hard time because I can't eat this week. He told me last night that I could back out any time I wanted to. I keep telling him that it will be better....eventually. I will be able to eat most everything I love but in a lot smaller portion. Five more days! If I can hang in there. I have to admit, I have gotten hungry several times. How do you get past this? What did you "eat" pre-op? It is so hard to come up with different things to drink. And of course, the headache! Ugh! Please let me hear from you. It's good to have friends to go through this with. Blessings, Pat
  4. You look great!!! I could only hope that I could nearly that good. I will have my surgery on 10/18 at Emory Midtown in Atlanta. Dr. Srinivasan is my surgeon. Being older might make a difference in how it goes. But I'm trying to be positive. Keep up the good work! You are an example and an incentive for the rest of us!! God bless. PitPat Anyone using Emory? Or one of their doctors? If so, I would love to hear from you.

:thumbup:CHOCOLATE!!!!! Chocolate is very addictive! And I am addicted!! But just a taste makes me feel better, clears the cobwebs and things look brighter. LOL... I know now, that when I get home after surgery, there will be no television! All the food commercials! I never paid any attention to them before now. I do hope your cravings are soothed quickly. Pat

I personally want to thank you for posting your ordeal. I am so sorry you had to go through all of the sickness and the pain, but we don't ever know what is ahead. I will get my band on 10/18 and I try to read everything I can so maybe I will be aware if something were to happen. Congratulations on your success of surpassing your goal! I hope this time next year that I can say the same thing! Thank you again. Take care. God bless, PitPat

    New 60+ Thread

Hello! I had been thinking about earlier tonight. How are you? Tell me everything! I'm still set for 10/18. I wish it was already behind me. It seems like forever since I started the prep but I know part of that was me waiting for the baby to come. So......it was worth waiting.LOL. Please fill me in on what's been going on with you. I'll be waiting to hear. Take care!

    Are there any guys here?

Hello! I will be banded on 10/18. As I was reading the posts for everyone, I came across yours mentioning food getting stuck. I have that horror! I have a friend that had the Lapband a couple of years ago and she has given me alot of information. She said that pineapple juice is good to "unstick" the food. Just sip on it but it should help. I think we need to offer advice to one another. I surely hope someone will help me if I run into a problem. Take care and blessings (no such thing as luck) PitPat

    Band as second choice?

Angela, you may be young but you have a good head on your shoulders! I think if anyone could be a spokesperson for Lapband, you could! I am lot older than you. in fact, I'm a new GREAT grandmother (a very young 64 year old), but you could have been the very one to convience me on the Lapband. I'm like you, I don't want my 'plumbing' re-routed, or anything re-arranged. I've never asked for surgery until now. I know that if I add ten more pounds, I will not be able to carry our new baby across the room. And that is a very sad thought to me. I have a lot of miles ahead of me and more things to do than I can count. I'm ready to enjoy the rest of my life! I will have my surgery on 10/18. Since I live in a small town, i have to travel to Atlanta Ga. for surgery. But if that's what I have to do, I will. Please keep me in your prayers. Keep me updated with your progess. It looks like you are doing great!! Keep it up. We're in it for the long haul. We're just not going to have to 'haul' as much. Take care, Pat (PitPat)

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Congratulations on your band date!!!! I am being banded on the same day. I am so ready!!!! I want to see the world being a much smaller person and I want the world to see me as a normal size. I start my preop diet on the 11th. Keep me updated on your progress on this journey.
  14. We're all there with you! Do your research, listen to these on this website and find a very good understanding, well known and established surgeon. And make your decision. My surgery is 10/18 and I am ready now!!!! Keep us updated.
  15. Hi, my name is Pat and I am the oldest member on this journey. I'm an Alabama girl that lives on the Georgia line. If I walk a couple of blocks down the road, I can stand in both Alabama and Georgia at the same time. I have been overweight all my life. Since I've had three back surgeries, I know I can't afford to gain any more weight. I have a lot of living to do so I need shed this access baggage. My three children are grown, all my grandchildren are grown...except for a six year old, and one of my grand daughters & her hubby just had a little boy.....I'm a great grandmother! But I'm young at heart and I want to do more in the rest of my life. Oh! And I do have sweetest most understanding husband of nearly 47 years that stands beside me in anything I want to do (within reason). It's good to 'hear' from all of you. Keep the posts coming.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your brother-in-law. I have just read your updates or I would have already responded. I will keep your sister and family (and you, of course) in my prayers. It shows us that we need to be ready all the time because we don't know when God wants to bring us Home to Him. I hope your recovery is not hampered by this huge shock. God's blessings on your family.

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

My surgery date is 10/18. I only have to do a week of Slim Fast before surgery. I will go 10/8 to talk to the anthesioligist (?sp). I'm nervous, excited, unsure, etc....... My emotions vary depending on the day. I'm just ready for it to be behind me. It seems like an eternity since I started. I put everything aside for about a month. My first great grandchild was born 9/10 and I got my appointment for my surgery date. So, here I go!:smile2:

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

I am one of the October 2010 Bandsters!!! My surgery date is 10/18, at Emory in Atlanta Georgia. Is there anyone that is from Georgia or Alabama? Maybe I'm the only Southern Belle...But maybe not. I would love everyone's input about your upcoming surgery.
  22. You will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Just think! In a couple of days you will be able to tell the rest of us how easy it is. YAH!!!! You will be just fine. I pray for you and the doctor. Take care.
  23. To be on the safe side, I would call the doctor's office early in the morning. They may let you have a swallow of water. But don't count on it. Maybe you should just sleep  a little later tomorrow. If you're like me, the more I think about it the worse it is. Hang in there. As they say, "You've come a long way, baby".
