Once my weight reached over 300 pounds I wasn't afraid to hide it anymore.  I always new I was big but my brain didn't compute the difference between my visual size and my actual size.  While walking with my spouse one day I spoted  a morbidly obese lady and turned to my spouse and said "if I ever get that big shoot me" and he looked at me in disbelief and that's the moment I realized I was "that lady!" and from that point on it was like I was on a crusade to " fix me".  I would tell every heavy person my weight and measure myself to them and that's when I decided I have to change me and get my 2nd chance at life.I have a wonderful husband and a 4 year old daughter that I need to be around for and like I said before "I needed to change me" to be around for both of them but especially my daughter.  I didn't want her to think that it was ok to be overweight, because it isn't.  She's at the point where she is learning and making some of her own food choices and as a mother I want her to make the right ones!
