    Anxious

I'm in the same boat right now... I keep trying to figure out how to pay for this surgery if I don't get approved. My surgeon's office sent everything into my insurance company 3/25/10... so hopefully I'll hear this week!! How long have you been waiting?

  8. I'm 28 5'4" and 271. I am just beginning LAP-BAND® journey. I'm at the trying to patiently wait for approval from my insurance company period so that I can set up a surgery date. I thought it would be nice to "buddy" up with a fellow LAP-BAND® buddy to have someone to encourage each other and vent our frustrations to! Any one interested? Even if your starting your journey too lets buddy up!
  9. WOW! I'm glad to hear you are doing so well!!

    Am I the only one?

I haven't told anyone about mine either. I told my mom and thats it. My boyfriend of 8months asked me about my recent doctor visits and i lied to him about it. I feel bad, but at the same time I don't know what people will think of me and I'm scared.

    Waiting to be banded

I'm a little worried about the pain in the shoulder and at the port site, my doctor said thats where most my pain will be after surgery..is it reallllly bad? I have a very high tolerance for pain..so hoping I will be ok!
  15. I am just starting my lap band journey. I had my consult this past monday, waiting for my insurance approval, and have my psych eval and all that good stuff March 17th. The only thing I'm having a problem with is how to go about my doctor monitored diet. I would have thought that would be the easiest part! My family doctor won't document it due to the fact that he doesn't believe I should have it. I have been on Jenny Craig for 5 months and Weight Watchers the past 2 months. I guess I just call up another doctor in my area and see him for it? I am kinda confused. Sorry I know this probably seems like a dumb question/issue I'm having...anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

    Doctor monitored diet?

Sorry! I'm new to all this. I'm 28, 5'4" and 271 my BMI is 45. I have had weight struggles since a child. I have checked with my insurance company and meet all of the requirements. (Blue Cross Blue Shield requires BMI > 40 and over 18, doctor diet for 3 months) My doctor is against it because he doesn't know much about it and said he's only had patients who did gastric bypass and have had lots of complications. He only wants me to continue to work out. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I would have surely thought you would have seen your doctor with an issue like that. Sometimes I don't understand doctors.

    Doctor monitored diet?

My surgeon is setting me up with a diatician/nutritionist at his office as well on the 17th. I didn't think about if that would count.. . I'll have to check into that. I need 3 months...

    Planning and unsure

I definately know where you are coming from I'm 28 and have battled my weight and depression related to it for most of my life. I just went to a consult with my local lap band surgeon and he said there are only 2 risks and both are very highly unlikely to happen..the first is the errosion of the band and the other is slipping of the band. Neither lead to death and he has only seen each of the happen once his entire time and he does over 100 bands a year. I hope this helps some. As far as your insurance, I just called my insurance company up before I called the doctors office and told them I was thinking about it. They were supppperrr nice and told me all about the coverage. ...

    Consultation on March 8th.

I just had my first visit/consult with Dr. Sidney Rohrschrieb this past monday. I went to see him at his Clinton office. He is nice..everyone there is great. I'm jealous you won it!! How cool! Yet, a little strange! I wish I could have mine as soon as you are.
