    Me and my hubby

From the album: Me and the Family

  2. Congrats on your success! You mentioned that you eat to fuel your body. Any suggestions? Books, websites, etc that you can recommend that may have helped you? Do you have a blog? You are an inspiration!

  3. Anyone else getting banded on May 10th? Looking for some buddies!
  4. Hi! My surgery is scheduled for May 10th. I am wondering how many days off I will need from work. I have a desk job. I thought maybe 2 days. I have had 3 c-sections and have a pretty good pain tolerance. Any thoughts?

    Days Off

Thank you to everyone who replied. I guess I will have to wait to see how my body adjusts to the surgery.
  7. I have to share my excitement with everyone! I got my insurance approval today and surgery is scheduled for May 10th! I am soooo excited and a bit nervous. I have my pre-op testing on Saturday and meet with the surgeon next Monday for the final appt. I also meet with the nutrition counselor to review pre-op and post-op diet. I am sooo excited! My hubby isn't as excited. I wish he was. I think he might be a bit nervous that something bad will happen in the surgery. My mom thinks that he might be nervous that once I am thin, I will leave him. No way! Any other May 10th banders? Any advice? I want to EAT all the foods that I know I won't be able to. I want to EAT, EAT, EAT before my pre-op. Is that terrible? Happy dance!!!!!

    Appeal Letter

I was denied by my insurance company and plan on appealing the denial. Does anyone have a copy of the letter they submitted for the appeal? Any suggestions for the appeal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Appeal Letter

I need diabetes, hypertension or heart disease in order to qualify. I have none of these. Do I have a leg to stand on? My BMI is in the 50's and I have depression and high cholesterol.
  16. I got the call from the insurance company today that I was denied. I meet the criteria for the insurance to pay for the Lap-Band in all areas except one. I need hypertension, heart disease or diabetes and I have neither. I am fat (BMI over 50), have high cholesterol and depression. I am only 34 and will eventually get high blood pressure or diabetes if I don;t lose the weight. I told a fellow bander that I was denied and she said that I should go see her surgeon and see if they can get the insurance to approve. Do you think it is worth it? Do you think that maybe I can find a doc that will give me a diagnosis of high BP even if it really isn't? I know that's bad! This sucks, I am soooo disappointed. I was looking forward to starting my weight loss journey and actually being successful. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  18. JRE1974-How much is the surgery? It's just silly that I need one mpre illness and then they will pay it. I am so depressed about it! I need to be physically unable to overeat! So damn depressed now!

    My worst fear....

I am also in the process of getting insurance approval and have the same questions as you. I am always "head" hungry so what happens after the surgery. I am willing to go to therapy and have gone in the past. I know that the Lap-Band will work for me because when I was pregnant the baby was so far up that it was uncomfortable to over eat so I actaully lost weight while pregnant. For some reason the head hunger was squashed by the physical discomfort. Does that make any sense? I look forward to some Lap-Band veteran responses!
  20. Hi Everyone, I am in the process of getting insurance approval for the Lap-Band. I have been reading the forums and doing plenty of research but there are a couple of things that I am confused about. What exactly are you able to eat after surgery? What foods can you NEVER eat? I understand that there are a few weeks where we only drink liquids, then pureed, then soft foods so AFTER those first few weeks what does a typical day look like? What does everyone eat throughout their day? I would love for you to tell me exactly what you ate today: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and Snacks. Thanks!
