I was also amazed at your starting weight! I had my surgery the day before you! I started at 245 pounds and I am now 184 pounds - so a 61 pound loss. Mine is so high because I had lots of complications so had a good 8 weeks of eating very little. I assure you it has slowed down to a snails pace! Seeing as you are much lighter than most it might be more useful for you to compare percentage loss. Yours is 14 % decrease. Morgandobes is 12 % etc (so you are exactly where you should be!) -

I did the diet where you only drink this strange maple syrup stuff, can't remember what it was called now. Anyway you had to do a salt 'flush' with 2 teaspoons of salt in 2L Water and drink it all at once (bit tricky with the sleeve but you could try). Anyway if anything is left in you after that I would worry!! Oh yeah it was called Mastercleanse- and ditto with the stay near a toilet! -
How long were you off work?
Cottoneye replied to TnT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 3 weeks off because I have a bendy and twisty job and ended up really hurting my left side and needed 4 more weeks of extreme pain and many painkillers before I could go back. However long you take, just make sure you are strong and well before or you could do some seriously painful damage! -
What was your first month like?
Cottoneye replied to delawaregal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks out and I am only starting to feel human again. I had a really really rough first few days and was in all sorts of pain. Then 2 weeks out I felt great! I went back to work and must have pulled something on my left side because I have been practically bed ridden for the last week! But then today I woke up and felt a million dollars (well maybe a few thousand). I still have to have a nana nap when I come from work and I feel like I am eating all day trying to get all this Protein in 2oz lots, but have had not vomiting etc. I felt REALLY bad until I started getting in my fluids, and it made a WORLD of difference!!! Im feeling really positive though because the scales are saying things I could have only dreamed about! Hang in there, everything worth fighting for is hard! -

I hope everyone's surgery has gone well now that the month is nearly over. I weighed myself today! OMG! I had a whole world of pain and regret the first few days, but today is the first day that I feel what everyone has been saying I will - It really is the best thing I have ever done! So on my 2 week pre-op diet I lost 25 pounds (crazy) and since surgery (9days ago) I have dropped another 10 pounds. Thats 35 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! wow! I have always been a fast loser though, its the putting it back on that gets me. Hopefully the sleeve will help with that. How is everyone doing? -

DAY 6!! Im am feeling so much better. Alot of what I was going through was panic I think. Its hard to imagine you will feel better when you are in so much pain. In hindsight I really shouldnt have let it get that bad. I should have gone to ER and let them help me. Im not sure why I didnt? I think maybe I thought that if my doctor thought I was fine then I must have been being a baby. How silly. I paid that man good money and I do not feel like he even cared how I was that day, he would have sent me home regardless. I should have asked more questions, I should have demanded more. There is nothing I can do now but I will never let myself be in that much pain again. On a more positive note, I feel great! Well actually I dont feel 'great' but comparatively I feel freeking amazing! I have settled into my routines of walking and sipping and I am well on my way. I still get uncomfortable and the big incision still hurts and the gas gurgling is awful, but every day I wake up I get better. I am so glad I found you people. I am sure this will not be the last time I ask for help....but I am finally feeling pretty positive about this. So yeah, thanks xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxox -
I HAVE!! I truly though I was going crazy. I felt like something was stuck in my throat. I was convinced I had a pill or something stuck in there. I would swallow and the liquid would just sit in that spot for a second and then carry on going? It drove me CRAZY! I had it for 3 days and then one day it just vanished! There is hope!

Hey! I was on the 15th too and got sooo worked up over everything I even wrote a "OMG IM SOOOOO DYING" post here....so I totally understand your pain. Its a funny thing that when you are not well, you cant really ever imagine getting any better. But you will...i promise. I have started to embrace the burping too, it often relieves the uncomfortable pressure. I am even getting pretty good at burping out the excess gas before it gets to my stomach! Haha thats a skill for my CV!! Walking has saved my life. When the pain/gas was really bad I was on a sort of roster with the TV Ad breaks: First break 3 sips Powerade, 2nd break walk around, 3rd break 3 sips Protein, 4th break walk around. It sound pathetic but it really kept me going, and kept things going in to me!! But all you probably want to hear is EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE FINE! Be strong -

Hey guys! Just a quick note to let you know I think I am on the downhill. I decided to not take anymore painkillers, I am sure the pain they cause are most of the problem. Last night was rough but I feel better today. I cant say I dont regret the surgery - pain is difficult to deal with when you chose to have it but I am trying not to think about it and take each day at a time. Thank you so much for your advice, I have sent my mum (a doctor in occupational health so not that informed on painkillers) to the pharmacist twice and they have all said they do not have strong liquid painkillers. Isnt that crazy? I managed to get in about 100 mls of Sustagen this morning, and since I have stopped the capsules I am able to get in more Water etc. I still have to take a Nexium and an anti depressant which I am not looking forward to. The last pill I cut in half got stuck and I threw it up. I pray that the worst is over...... -

Thank you for your suggestions. I live in Australia and it seems we dont have any of the things you guys have talked about. Get this - my doctor only gave me his office number which I assumed would give emergency details but didnt. i should have checked first. I could still call the hospital I guess? What a mess, now Im terrified I am going to get a leak with these pills. Have walked around plenty which has helped a little with the gassy gurgling pain. I took some morphine tablets my mum had left over from surgery and vomited them straight up so no go! Do hot packs help? -
I am Day 4 post op and I am really really struggling! I was on the morphine clicker when I was in hospital and felt fine, but have been in such huge amounts of pain since that I am beginning to lose it! My doctor prescribed me Capadex which are HUGE capsules that get stuck and hurt like hell, and last night I threw them up which hurt heaps too. I have tried emptying the capsules and putting them in all sorts of things; ice cream yoghurt etc but they taste so bad I am gagging before I even swallow. My mum got me some soluble Panadeine but its not very strong and isnt helping. Plus I have to swallow the nexium and my antidepressant - It just seems like I am swallowing pills every few hours....OWW! I also have these weird hiccuppy thing which are excruciating, really really bad. I just dont know what to do now, Im out of options and in sooo much pain...please help me.

Home today from the hospital! Had it done on Tues. Did everything I was supposed to - frequent walks, sips etc and only spent two nights in the hospital! I am very sore still at my incision sites, and have these weird hiccuppy sort of things which really hurt, but otherwise I actually feel quite good! I cant believe I did it!!! Hope the pain goes away soonish though..... ;-(
