  1. I'm in a suburb just west of Boston. I'm another RN- ICU... and mother of 2 daughters ages 7 & 9!!!
  2. I haven't been on this thread in awhile. It's making me feel better about what's going on with me. I was banded 8/17/10 and have lost 27lbs- most of that was from the 10 day pre-op and 2 weeks post op. My surgeon told me some people can eat as much as they could pre-op before they get their first fill. That was me! Just got my first fill on Friday 10/1.... 4cc in a 14 cc band. He told me if I don't feel a difference they will put another 3cc in. They don't want their pt's getting discouraged early on. So far I feel no difference! What's saving me is the amount I am exercising! I just can't wait to get over this hump! I feel like people are looking at me waiting for more weight loss!!!!
  3. Haven't had a prilosec since surgery! Woohoo!!!

    Inches V.S. Pounds

I wish I measured myself before all of this! I am in the same boat! I'm down 25 pounds- banded 8/17/10. The scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks, but things do fir me different. And I am not as puffy. I trying not to obssess over the scale....Makes me feel better that other people are going through this too!!!

    Hit a setback :(

Hi Kelly, I see that you go to Dr. Glasgow. I was just banded on August 17th by Arthur. Love them! While I haven't had your problem, I'm kinda freaking out about the weight loss. I lost 25 lbs between the preop diet and the immediate post op. The scale hasn't budged in 2 weeks! I'm doing the same think you are- working out a fair amount. I'm assuming my body is just adjusting.... Your 66 lb weight loss is awesome! At least they diagnosed the band problem right away! It's nice they have all the equipment right there. hopefully you'll have more luck with going slowly. I won't get my first fill for 2 1/2 weeks. Do you go to any of the support groups? Lisa
  6. I was banded August 17th. I have lost 24 pounds - which I know is great! 14 pounds was from my 10 day pre-op diet, and 10 pounds the week after surgery. I'm a little frustrated as the scale hasn't budged in the past 10 days.... I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do! I mean, I'm eating like 1/3 of what I used to eat! And much better choices! What gives? Is my metabolism slowing down with the decreased calories? My doctor says the first 6 weeks really aren't about losing weight, but....that's what will keep me going.... But I am proud and thrilled with my 24 pounds gone! Just a little worried....
  7. Jennifer, I would totally add you as a friend if I knew how.... I'm computer illiterate! ?sp? Glad you've turned the corner. I'm still there. I need to break up with my scale for awhile. I'm on it every day... not good. Can't wait to get to solids next week, but my doctor said some people actually gain some weight when they start solids! Ugh! Keep up the good work! Lisa
  8. Thanks Betsy, I actually have been tracking my calories on my Iphone (with an application). I'm getting in about 1000-1100 per day. Which is up from last week of 700-900. With swelling going down, I can definately eat more. My doctor basically said not to worry about calories now- I will get a fill at 6 weeks and meet again with the nutritionist to form a plan. I am back to exercise, so I'm sure that will help. It's a good thing mentally for me! I'm just assuming my body needs to adjust (at least that's what I'm hoping!)

    August 2010 anyone?

Hi! I'm new to this thread.... I have my date- August 17th! Still need insurance approval- I have Tufts Health Plan. I will finish my 6 month "I can change" program on July 27th. My doctors office said Tufts is usually pretty quick with the approval. I've done everything I was supposed to do. Keeping my fingers crossed! Going on vacation for 2 weeks then coming back to start my 10 day preop liquid diet! I'm totally dreading it!!! Oh, I am 38 years old, mother of 2 beautiful girls 7 and 9 years old. 5'10" and 285 lbs...ugh!!! Not for long though!!!!
  11. Got my date! August 17th! Will start my pre-op diet August 7th- the day I come home from vacation! Nervous but can't wait. And oh yeah, I hope insurance approves it! Shouldn't be a problem though....

questions about I can change diet

It's really not a diet, but a way to learn healthier habits. You are not required to lose weight on this. I have spoken to my health coach twice. In the meantime, I am getting what I need to get done with the doctor, nutritionist, etc... Unfortunately, there is no way out of this!!! I wish there was!! The clock starts ticking with the first phone call with the health coach- So I could be elegible for the surgery by the end of July. Good luck!!!
  13. I hope to have an August date, too. I started my 6 month "I can change" program through Tufts Health plan last month. Not really a diet- just learning lifestyle changes....I have my first appointment today with my surgeon. We'll see what happens!!!!
