Big girl banded replied to Big girl banded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Question about tight chest after banding
Big girl banded replied to Big girl banded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. It weirds me out that i put something IN my bosy, but i am still happier then cutting UP my body. I think i am being a little sensitive. Thanks for the support. Esp from some one as experienced as you are! I think i needed that reassurance. -
Thanks for the encourgement. The mushy phase is two weeks long. I think that one will be good for me. It will help me really understand what everything is suppose to feel like. Right now i just cant tell what is going on. It is good to hear you are doing so well. Esp since you were banded so close to me. Thanks

THey gave me PAGES AND PAGES of Info. but not staying the night and having a nurse to talk to has left me feeling a little in the wind. I just didnt know if anyone started their shakes back up right away or let it slide for a few days. I get this burning in my chest occasionally even without food in me. Thnking this is gasses, and healing. i am allowed to go to mushy food in one week.

I am finally up and moving around. I was released same day as banding(12th). I had extreme problems with gas in my back and shoulder hence no sleeping. I was very glad that i lived close to the hospital. I slept almost all day yesterday. Today i have been up and down. My belly is VERY sore but alot of the gas feeling is gone. It hurts to stand, move, laugh. but i figure it hasnt been that long yet. I am trying to stay confident. I have my clear broths, popsicles and Jello, nothing has "come back" yet. They did a barium right out of surgery, yuck, not recommended! But doc says it all went very well. He even was able to do the surgery around my tattoo without cutting into it. I will pot pictures later. I am making it, hoping tomorrow is that magical day that makes me feel great. Anysuggestions on food? should i be doing the Protein again? I think that jello and popsicles are not on the "pyramid of healthy foods" thanks

Oh spunkywoman! I am so sorry to hear this. My brother in law just fought melanoma and won for now. REmember to deal and talk about your feelings not only with him but with a friend. My sister called almost daily upset, angry etc. If you talk about it you wont EAT it. Gaining now would just be an added stress. Good luck! Our prayers are with you.

Hello. I posted for oct bands. I will be banded next week. I am drinking the gross liquid shakes they want us to and have begun prepping my husband on the diet and food changes. I am in virginia, self pay, I love kickboxing and motorcycles. I am married to a twig (at 6ft- he weighs in at a huge 155) I am hoping this surgery helps me lose 80- 100 lbs. I am not trying to be Kate moss just healthy. I have been on this board as a guest but figured that it was time to log in since the time is near and i may have questions for all of you.

I am banded on the 12th. starting to get a little nervous but I know one of the nurses that is working on that floor and she is giong to find me and check in, for some reason that is reassuring even though we went to highschool together and drank silly and dated the badboys... :girl_hug: but it is still more comfortable then not knowing the nurse at all.. LOL Good luck to all this week. Ill see you on the other side of banding....

Thank you Susan 4794! I NEVER even thought to get my husband on for support/information. He is curious, trying to be suportive, confused about the right foods etc. That is an EXCELLENT idea. -
Purtynailz i am in richmond. I also got a bad snotty cold but the doctor said that my chest xrays looked great and as long as i did not have a fever within that week that i should be fine ..no canceling. I have been drinking soup and liquids so much anyways during this time that i think it should be fine. Just watch the meds. I told him that my long term health is most important. it took me more then a week to put on this weight. If i have to wait another week or two or risk major situation like death then I will glady wait. Hope you are not sick, let us know how you are doing.

I didnt tell my family until the last minute... the night before my pre op... all of them are thin, so it is difficult to talk to them about my eating problems. But they were SO supportive. I forget sometimes how great all of them really are. !! I told three of my friends who are all nurses to get their opinion. Also one may be a nurse on the surg floor the day or surgery so i didnt want to scare her when they wheeled me in! Not sure if they are telling folks or not, 2 of them are non stop talkers. I think I will be more likely to be open about it once i am able to SHOW people why i chose this route. Good luck Pug Master.~! See you on the other side!!

Reasonably priced Drs in the US for Self payers?
Big girl banded replied to VABandster's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
In va i am self paying for 13,500 that is with one night stay and one yr service. Now if you have sleep apnea or a large BMI then they keep you over night which is an extra 5,000. I thought about traveling but i think it is worth sleeping in my own bed while i am recovering. There is nothing so comforting about your own pillows. I am making montly payments for the next decade but it is worth it. -
Hello. I am new, actaully i have been reading this site for awhile but just joined. I had my pre op on the 2nd and now am doing the liquid diet. I have my sugery on the 12th in Virginia I paid for it myself, ugh. Everyone in my family (who are all thin) are behind me in this journey. I am 32 and very active. I am 6ft tall which gives me an odd shape to have so much weight. I loof forward to your support and being able to support others in the future.
