Question: Had my band placed 4/30. Whenever I drink or eat jello or soup, (or take my vitamin) it feels like I can feel it go all the way down my esophagus ((sp)) and then into my stomach. It's not painful but uncomfortable. I know my esophagus wasn't operated on but why is it feeling weird whenever I swallow?

What is this feeling???

I just got banded so I don't have any restriction yet. Does the band being placed add SOME restriction tho? -
I had my band placed on April 30. I know that I have no band restriction and I'm not too hungry and am doing ok with Soup and Jello. My doctor has me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks post op then mushies for the following 2 weeks. I'm wanting to know what all is considered a "liquid" diet? I'm ok with soup but i'm afraid it will get pretty old by next week. Anyone have any suggestions? Also - did anyone else get cold sores after surgery? They all just appeared inside my mouth as of yesterday. I never got them before and I was just curious to see if it's related to surgery.....

Had my surgery yesterday morning at 10am and was discharged at 3 pm. I'm in awe about how i'm not hungry. I mean, I think that I want a bagel loaded with cream cheese, but then I stop and think. "wow, i'm not hungry, I just WANT the food". It's a weird but eyeopening thing. The Soup broth (1/2 cup) is so filling and satisfies me. Carnation Instant Breakfast was also a big surprize. It's so good! Nice cold chocolate milk to start my day! Am having gas pains but more in my upper chest so I'm not sure what that's all about. Just enjoying the rest for a few days. I'm so excited about the change in my life. I'm ready for new adventures!:thumbup:

April 30 surgery - Hungry?
middygirl replied to middygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
kellyjoiii - the magic bullet cracked me up! You and I have the same sort of mind! My husband made hot dogs on the grill and I just wanted to put it in my mouth chew and spit. They looked soooo good. BUT I was strong and said YUM to my tomato soup and jello. Mind over matter.....once we get past the liquid stage I think we can do just about anything!!!:thumbup: -
I had my surgery on April 30 too! Yay us!! I haven't had issues with my voice, but since surger have gotten a few cold sores on my tounge and cheeks. It's weird. Not sure if it has anything to do with the surgery or not?? We should become band buddies since we have the same date! I've been having incision pain but am limiting my lortab intake. I'm going to just do tylenol tomorrow so I can drive and feel like the living again. How is the liquid diet going? I'm not hungry but do think about food a lot. I'm ready for the mushie stage!

Post Op liquid diet ideas?????
middygirl replied to middygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the ideas! I'm gonna go to GNC tomorrow. The funny thing is that I would LOVE to have a bowl of cottage cheese right now. I've been craving cottage cheese for some reason. The next 12 days will be hard. Once i'm able to do the mushies, all will be better for me. I'm counting down the days until I can have that lowfat serving of cottage cheese! -
April 30 surgery - Hungry?
middygirl replied to middygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys for the encouragement! I have to admit, my husband grilled hot dogs on the grill today and boy oh boy did they look GOOD! I wanted to grab one and stuff it in my mouth! I guess 3 days of liquids only can make a person crazy! But I just took in the smell and ate my jello. I'm beginning to become proud of myself! The hot dogs looked soooo good, but I know they are not for me. Are we sure the band doesn't affect our brain????:thumbup: -
I too have BCBS PPO. My surgeon told me that my policy covers the surgery. Now we just have to see if they will cover me. I spoke with my surgeon yesterday and he said that a BMI over 40 is reason enough even with no comorbids. Mine is 45 with no comorbids. I weigh 254 and am 5'4. Hopefully we'll both get the news we want to hear soon!! Good luck!:tongue_smilie:
