I have been dieting since I've been 9 years old - I've been skinny, fat, skinny, fat, skinny, fat, etc. Well - my body just refused to lose weight anymore and I was stuck at a weight that I am in NO way comfortable with. Heavier than I've ever been before and morbidly obese. I had extreme GERD, PCOS, high blood pressure - NOT healthy. Lap Band, to me, seemed like a way that I could actually LIVE a healthy life again. The choice was easy for me - Lap Band is a safe surgery...safer than gastric bypass. (that wasn't even an option, to me) My doctor recommend me to Journeylite, with Dr. Curry - and it was a green light from there. I can't even go into the vast emotional scars I have from being overweight - thankfully, I have an amazing husband, 2 equally amazing children, family and friends and a church family that are 100% behind me...fat OR thin.I was banded 2 weeks ago (Feb. 8, 2010) today and feel awesome. I was on a 3 week pre-op diet that was horrendous, but necessary to get my BMI down. In 5 weeks, I've lost 34 pounds - post-surgery, I no longer have to take TWO prilosec every day. I have NO GERD anymore. I just can't wait to get my first fill on March 5th - and see the pounds melt away. I plan on following all the rules - I didn't go through surgery to "trick" the system. I want to see my other medications for PCOS and high blood pressure disappear soon too!
