Suggestions for an ice crushing, regular sized blender.
vegasdee replied to kab1278's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hated to clean a large blender everytime I made myself a shake. So I found this fablous Hamilton Beach 14 oz single serve with a travel lid. It cost 19.99 at best buy also target has them. The model number is 51103. Take a look on line its great and I love to be able to walk around and drink shake then just wash it up quickly. -
Surgeon says I can't lose any weight...
vegasdee replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do a 3 month diet per my insurance. My nutritionist didn't ask for the paper work ,even thou she was Thur my insurance. My primary Dr asked for all the diet in writing to send to the insurance, she said it just helped move thing along to show we have exhausted all avenues. I would do it its better to be safe then sorry ,after 6 months being denied would stink.I used sparks people.com and filled in daily and printed it out. It saves there so if you need it all you have to do is print it if they ask.The insurance is all a big game. Good Luck -
Well as for the coffee, I'm not sure I am not a coffee drinker but i thought caffeine was a no no..check with your Dr on that maybe decaf is OK I did stay over night but had my surgery at 4PM and was out by the next morning by 8am..it wasn't much of a stay but my insurance required an overnight stay...I was up and around right away. When I checked out of the hospital they gave me instructions on eating and all kinds of paperwork. My Dr's last visit before surgery they as-well gave me menus and instructions. When I got home after surgery I check my email and my surgeon emailed me saying surgery went well, gave me all the details and said to email him for any questions at all any time. He replies to his own emails. He said to contact the office for an emergency thou not to email. As far as going with your husband to his appointment everyone is different, I didn't take any pain meds ....I have a spinal injury for 13 years and was so young i didn't want to ever take them for fear that taking them for so many years overtime there would be repucutions....I tough out the pain, some think I have a high tolerance for pain,I just think I'm not a complainer, the Dr said we could take regular tylenol...So I'm sure you will be able to go with him to his appointment, you may be a little uncomfortable but its doable. Hope this helps and Good luck with your journey

I'm very sorry first off, but I am somewhat feeling the same way. I had my first fill by my surgeon and felt some restriction the next day. When he did the fill he withdrew some fluid and then added to it so he knew he had got the port. I went for a second fill and got the Physcian Assistant this time. She proceeded to fill me with one quick poke , at the time I thought wow that was painless and quick you do it better then the Dr. But for the next few days I have felt as if she must have missed because I feel less restriction then before I went. Like a jerk I didnt ask how much she put in so maybe she didnt add a significant amount , Im praying. But I have been wondering if she punched my tube as well or if she missed and the first fill has worn off. All I know is I do not want have problems right from the start as I am only 2 months out. I will be going to the surgeon on Monday so Im praying she didnt poke my tube, while Im praying ill pray for you as well . Good Luck

I had my surgery 6 weeks ago, I have had 1 fill. I've lost 17 lbs so far. I joined the gym and go 5 days a week. I'm glad I have lost weight, but would liked it to be more. But I know we didn't gain it fast so its a slow process and I'm OK with that now. I do have one very confusing question. Since my fill I have noticed more food gets stuck so I believe I am tighter, but I still believe I can eat more then 4 oz of food, I don't know how much more maybe a few times I had 5 or 6 oz but never the meals I would have ever eaten before not even a quarter of what I ate before.I do not have the urge to vomit or feel over stuffed.I am never hungry between meals. So does this mean I need a fill again now because I can fit more in , even though I'm not hungry.OR Am I supposed to have both restriction right at 4 oz of food and not feel hungry between meals?

Thats how mine worked my first apt was a wound check only. Then about a month later which was yesterday for me, I had a fill.

I have tried the chocolate which i love , the vanilla is OK if you want to add stuff to it like fruit and thing like that, i have it plain. They have strawberry that I haven't tried. I did try the punch shots those I'm not crazy about because I'm not a water drinker and I'm drinking crystal lite all day so I needed to brake it up, and they are expensive. The large container of powder is cheap and easy. If you go out you can put a scoop in a baggie and always ask for water or carry bottled water or just get some skim milk. I have even heated up water or milk and drank it like hot coco very tasty. Desperate times bring desperate measures. LOL I am one of the lucky ones I guess, I'm a month post op and i am never hungry. I have been on solids and can only eat 4 oz and I'm over full so I have been doing the protein drink for breakfast. When I was 2 weeks post op I thought i was hungry around 4 but we dont eat dinner till 6 so I would have half of 1 scoop and 2 oz of milk and that filled me till dinner sometimes to full to fit dinner. So for me i find these do bulk you up.

I love the Whey protein body fortress muscle whey protein. You dont have to do the whole 50 grams at once. I know mine is 26 grams of protein for 1 scoop and 130cal and you can add water or milk. Dr says its good as long as carbs and sugars are low

I love the body fortress whey protein muscle milk. It tastes great like choc milk. I mix 1 scoop with 4-6 oz skim milk , crushed ice and just shake it in the cup they sell. Its cheap at walmart 12dollars for 2lbs. Its only 130cal and if you use skim milk its 200 calories, gotta add those calories. It can be mixed with water as well. It has 26 grams of protein per scoop. You can add stuff to make it a shake i just have it plain. i dont find a gritty feel or after taste like the other types. Good Luck -

hi , my name is Denise ,Im located in Vegas as well. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago thru Dr Atkins andDr Soongs office. Would love to chat.I havent found anyone on here so far from vegas, but im pretty new on here. Cant wait to here form you -
Hi, I am 3 weeks post op, I have been doing really well. The first 2 weeks i lost great-week1 7lbs -week 2 5 lbs totaling 12lbs. Now I'm at week 3 and only lost 1 lb. I hope this is not an indication of how slow this will go for me. I was wondering if this week wasn't good since I started back on soft foods. I did not cheat at all. I have been having my protein shakes for breakfast since, I'm not a breakfast person this works well for me.My 2 other meals only 4 oz of food as per my Dr and only protein and have been staying under 15 carbs a day with in those 2 meals. No snacks . Should I be having another protein shake thru the day, will this added protein help loose,or will this just add to my calorie intake. I'm not hungry thru out the day, I believe i have restriction because some foods have filled me up faster than others. So does this mean I need to eat more or less, 4 oz of food twice a day isn't really very much. Or do I need more protein? This doesn't mean I need a fill, having a fill wont force me to loose weight correct,it will just restrict my intake more which i don't believe i need, like i said I'm not hungry thru the day and the little food i eat fills me up. Ok I know i didn't gain this weight fast but i sure as hell want to loose it fast. I know 13 lbs in 3 weeks is OK, but i don't want to stall. So Please any advise HELP:w00t:

Hi , I just had surgery 3 weeks ago and have graduated to soft solids. I still do the protein shakes, I purchase body fortress whey protein from walmart as well,it tastes great they have choc, vanilla and strawberry flavors. I like the way it tastes its cheap $12 for 2lbs. In the morning I always use it to start my day with protein its good with skim milk as a shake with ice ,or sometimes i heat it in the microwave and it tastes like hot coco. This has very little sugar and carbs and 1scoop is 26 proteins. At my Dr the nutritionist and Dr gave a amount of protein for the day ,I should have 52 grams a day. You should give them a call most offices have someone available to talk to. Good luck with your surgery.
