I got the lapband surgery in March of 07. I first weighed in at 241. I lost 18 pounds in the two weeks prior to my surgery to prepare for the surgery as instructed. I was told that this was a lot of weight to loose for a lapband patient. I just did everything I needed to do for the surgery and it worked for me. My weight on the day of surgery was 223. The surgery went well. In the begining i lost weight. I had my first fill 4 months in and my second fill 2 months later. My third fill came shortly after. I was at 183 in Dec of 2007. I feel that this is where my problems began. The third fill was too much but i didnt go back to my doctor to release it. I started work in Jan of 2008 and because it was a new job, i didnt get days off. I started another new job in June of 2008 which i traveled an hour each way. I was still having problems with my lap band. I was throwing up at least 3 times a week, and i had stopped loosing weight. As a matter of fact, I started gaining weight. I went from 183 to 207 in a matter of months. In october of 2009 i ended up in the emergency room with grilled vegetables stuck in my band. My doctor released all of the saline from my band and my pain went away. It had been two years since i had seen my doctor before that hospital visit, and I havent seen him since. I am now at 218 pounds and unsure what my future holds with this weight loss tool.
