April 2006 Bandits January Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, Today is my happy day. There was a blizzard last night, so it is beautiful and white this morning. Well... I wieghed in this morning (I was up a lb last week). I am so happy to be down three lbs this week. I think my next goal is ... of course onderland. Julie- wow what a training option!!! Good for you and I don't know how you manage to do it all and move at the same time. Boo and Bluehill - I agree about the challenge. I would like to increase the number but not the intensity. That suits me better. Eficka... you live in the Czech Republic? I am planning a trip this summer and hoping to go to Prague or the area for a week or so (with hubby and 2 kids). Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Dawn April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/ 204/179 Met the exercise challenge!!!! -
Breakfast: 1 low fat yogurt, 1 tablespoon of granola and 1/2 a banana lunch 1/3 a chicken salad sandwich, 3 dill pickles and a low fat yogurt Supper (will be) 1 piece of chicken quesidialla (sp?), salad (regular dresssing - I just can't give it up) Snack - 1 low fat popsicle, and 1 turkey pepperette stick (50 yummy calories) I hope this helps! My new NSV... my goodness how lucky I have been. It was a wonderful morning today and I ran. I ran 4 km (I walk occassionally) and it felt good. That and my size 16 + jeans are my current thrill. I am trying to train for a 5 km... some times I am just amazed at how well this has worked!!! you guys are all great!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/207/179

Once again you guys are so amazing. Boo- thanks for calling me a runner. I feel like it today. It was a wonderful morning only -17 and no wind, with a blizzard warning in effect I knew I would not be able to run tomorrow... so I ran again today - I usually run every other day. Well... today I decided to take it easy and run for me and not time I have been working on speed (Julie I am a 10 minute K... I have to work to get to your pace). I ran (with some walking) 4.2 K today and I feel so great. Julie... when is your 10 K in the summer? We are going to (hopefully) Prague..., but let me know. Since I live in the Arctic and only go to Montreal for meetings, we may have to have good planning... but I would love to run with you!!!! We would rock. I weigh in tomorrow and I am hoping to meet my January challenge of 205. I'll let you know. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/207/179 Made my exercise and then some this month!!! -
Mandi, sorry I am a bit late on it... but you look awesome, really amazing. Can you be my new hero??? Wow!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/207/179

Hi Guys, I have been in meeting after meeting for the past few days so I have had very little time to post... sorry. You are all so inspiring. I too hit the January challenge. I am so happy about that and I KNOW you are all a big part of it... the support here is amazing. I had a tough run this morning. I have decided to work on my time (I wonder if this is a good idea??) so i ran like a crazy women. I did 3.3 K in 31 minutes... which is still really slow, but it is getting there. I am thinking of running in a 5K in Montreal in March... just not sure if I have the time to get ready for it. Any thoughts - it is March 25th. Unfortunately it is then or I have to wait until the summer. Have a great night all!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/207/179 -

It seems everyone is doing well. Kat... wow hope all is okay. Julie- I (as you know) am Canadian, but still think it is cool that Hillary is going to run. Bluehill congrats on making the challenge, no wonder you are doing so well. I had another great run this a.m. (yep it was -35 C, but it was so wonderful). I am now running to music - I have put a playlist on my ipod ( 1 long song and 1 short song and then another long and short ... and I run to the long song and walk to the short). Today I did 3.3 K so I was happy- but it took me 35 minutes... ouch I guess I need to work on speed next. I was up a lb this weekend- tough for me as I am never usually up... but I think it will settle. Someone called me a runner yesterday and I just about had a heart attack. Julie those races sound fabulous. I will train for something - but not yet and there is nothing here so it will only be a vacation option!! I more day to hit 17 sessions this month!! Argo, Go to a normal store. I bought a vest at Le chateau a few weeks ago- it was an XL but I was jumping up and down like crazy. So... go and enjoy!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/206/179

No winter coat Bo!!! How is that possible? We had a blizzard here yesterday. Lucky for me that it kicked up later in the day. I got out for a great morning run. I didn't bring my interval watch- just me and my ipod and it was fun for a change. I ran about 3.3 K and it felt good. Roberta, sorry about your asthma... my husband has significant asthma so I think I understand what you are going through. When you can't breathe nothing else matters. Julie- how is the apartment going?? Everyone else is doing so great. Have a wonderful Sunday. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 358/206/179 (opps - my list of sessions exercised this month are at work) -

Thanks so much Julie, Your constant reinforcement has been so critical to me. I think running in the cold is mental- I have no choice. I have no tredmill or gym, so what's a girl to do? I layer well and pull off as needed en route. I just know that it will be cold and it is what it is! What race are you entering? I would love to hear about it. DAwn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal -

Hi Everyone, I am exhausted and tired but sooo happy. I had a great run this morning and feel energized and proud. There was no wind and it was only -18 C, so I really enjoyed myself. It sounds like you guys are all doing well. Anyone have any good plans for the weekend? I think we are going out ski-dooing and then a picnic if it is not windy. We may also snow shoe... so it should be good. Take a look at my ticker... I am over the 150 lb lost mark!!! Yee haa!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal Exercise this month= 14 sessions -
Neenagh, Don't beat yourself up about the pb cups... at least you went for something yummy!! We all slip- don't ask me about the pot of gold over Christmas!!! Great NSV btw. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal

Okay AStrotoes... I have to ask... where do you live to have temperatures like that??? Dawn (sorry I closed my ticker file and am about to leave work for the night!!)

Astrotoes, The book is great and so worth the $15.00. I love the thought that a runner is someone who runs...nothing more complicated than that. It is cold like the dickens here right now, and windy. Let me check the old weather ... it is currently -25, with the windchill making it -39C. So, I think I will drive home tonight and cuddle up with my gang and watch a movie!!! Have a good night all!!! Okay... I am not 41 with a flower on, but I am 39 so close enough. Thigns went okay with my brother in law... we were civil and he was nice to my kids so that is what really matters I guess. I didn;t have access to a computer for most of the holidays, so I haven't been around much sorry. My fun news is that I hit my Christmas goal and am rocking towards the next one... and somewhere along the line I decided that I like running. I bought the book ... The Courage to Start... which I highly recommend. I am now doing 2 minutes running and 1 minute walking for about 30 minutes 3 x a week. So... I am giddy about this new phase. It is like... wow can this really be me?? I am also busy planning our summer trip- we are hoping for at least 2 weeks in Prague, 1 in England and 1 in Budapest. Wow again, today is a good day and I am happy. How did this happen to me??? I hope you all are having the happiness that I am!! Dawn Banded april 4, 2006 Montreal

Hi Betty, I too can relate about enjoying the snow. I am from Southern Ontario originally and yeah we got winter there, but not like the Arctic. There is nothing like clean, crisp white snow and a clear sky. Today I ran (-33 C) and it was glorious. The stars were still up and I felt strong... really amazing this transformation of mine. It sounds like you are all working so hard. How is the house going Julie? Welcome (back) Eficka... your pictures are soooo lovely. How are you Kat? it seems we are all working hard. I just want to hit my January goal (of 205) and then you know what the next one will be( say hello to 'one'derland). I have been busy working on our plans for our summer trip. I can't wait and I need the vacation too so!!!! I am excited. Have a great day everyone. Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 montreal Exercise sessions this month= 11 -

Bluehill, Congrats on the extra yoga class. I wish there was a pool here where I could swim. I love it when I go to a hotel and I can swim and swim and swim!!! Hope you all have a good day.
