Hi Everyone! Amourette, sorry you had to go through that. I have twice been on a plane turned around due to problems and seeing the fire trucks waiting on the ground is not comforting. Of course I am flying to Montreal today for meetings... so wish me luck. Thanks for the reminder to do the extra I love yous!! Julie and Kat... that scale must move... that scale must move. So.... here is your poem... There once was a scale that was stuck, For Julie and Kat it was bad luck, one day it will move, and then we will groove, Too bad I dance like a duck!!!!! Betty and Boo thanks for your kind words. I am off to MTL today. I have 10 days of meetings in 3 different hotels! Oh well, what is a girl to do!! I had a good run yesterday and it will be warmer in MTL so that will be good. Scale is still my friend today... so wierd. I hope my mini breakthrough is catchy!! Hey Julie... change your picture girl!!!!!!! Dawn banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/191/179 Exercise session to date= 16 sessions! -
Does Anybody Lose Serious Weight?
DeltaDawn replied to tinker0614's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would like to add my thoughts. I think it depends on many factors. For me I was in the right place at the right time and ready to be banded. I don't think I would have been ready 5 years earlier. I was banded almost a year ago. My weight loss is 167 lbs. Just working hard every day and now I run 4 x a week... because I CAN!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/191/179 -
April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Moly, I didn't begin running until I had lost over 100 pounds (I think it was about 130 lbs). I knew I needed to build slowly and that is what I did. I also took a long time to get really running. I would walk 5 minutes and run 1 minute when I started. But that has been good for me. Don't get down... you will get there!! Julie... you are my inspiration... I am going to shout at your scales for you!!!! Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/192/179 Exercsie sessions this month= 14 -
April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Julie the concert sounds great! Betty how is Alan? Boo how are you doing? I was running this morning (windchill -42) and I pulled something in the back of my knee. I got home right away and iced it... so hopefully it will be nothing. Lucky for me that my km this week were already high, so I will make 15 km this week. I am also thrilled that the scales has moved again. Just when I thought I was stuck for good... I am heading to Montreal on Sunday for 10 days of meetings- I hate being away from my family that much! But, I am doing my run there in 9 days... yep I am getting nervous!!! My internet action may be sporadic, but I wish you all a great weekend. Good luck on your race Julie!! Boo... we are thinking of you!!! Dawn -
Hi sweet psmama, I think you can run with flat feet. My husband runs and his feet and ffflllaaattt. Just start really slow and get the best pair of shoes you can. I go to the running room and get them fitted. It may cost $150.00 but it is well worth the chunk of change. I am now running 5 k in just under 40 minutes. My first 'race' is in 2 weeks... so we'll see how it goes. Good luck to you. Dawn Banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/195/179 I run because I can!!

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
DeltaDawn replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI Everyone, Julie... can I make you jealous... I know you can take it my friend... I have the 'great husband' and my weight loss has been good (as you know)... but I would trade some of my fast weight loss, for warmer weather (running in -30 is crazy). To everyone else... it can be done, we are all in this together... the road is long but worthwhile!! Dawn banded Arpil 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/195/179 (but I bet I'll want to go lower) I run because I can!!! -

April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi guys... Well, the scale is still (frustratingly) stuck... but I am determined. I had a good run this a.m. 5.25 km in 41.5 minutes. It was a slog, but I got through it and felt good about it afterwards. I met someone today, who I only saw once before and she said... oh yeah your the runner! I was in total shock. Well, it sounds like you are all doing well. Keep up the good work! Dawn Banded April 4,2006 Montreal 358/197/179 March challenge = 8 to date -
April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Julie, Great job... we are both in a 16 pant!!!! My scales has been stuck (here comes the plateau) at 197!!But... I knew this would happen some time. I had a major anxiety attack today because I didn't run. I woke up and the wind was 40 km per hour and - 30... so I choose to take the day off, got my coffee and relaxed.. and then of course the wind died down! I felt really guilty. I didn't realize how much I needed to run. I have to do 2.75 k tomorrow to make 15 k this week, so I hope I can make it. My race is in 2 weeks and I am getting scared. Is it just me or do other people feel like they are always waiting for the shoe to drop... like this is it and I won't be able to keep doing this anymore!! Sorry to be such a downer. On the good side of things, I did walk into work 1.2 k and I did running sprints on the way... Talk to you later, Dawn banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/197 (still) 179 -

April 2006 Bandits' March Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am sorry that I am having problems keeping up to date. Life is crazy busy at work so I apologize for not popping in more often. I hope everyone is well. Julie and others join the club... I too am stuck at this weight (I am actually up a pound - yikes), but I do have 2 great things I want to share. I went to the nursing station on Friday for a pinched nerve and the doctor told me I have the stats of an athlete - bp 177/75 and resting pulse of 51. How oh how did this happen to me?? And then on Saturday I ran 5 km- (I am in training for a race on March 25th) and I hit my 'wanted time". I ran it in 39.5 minutes, which is just below the 40 minutes I have been pushing for. so... no weight of, but yep I am feeling good about other things!.. I did another 5 k this morning (I run every other day) and it was about the same time... So... I will be grateful for those things!! Dawn banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/ 197/ 179 -
Can I add an NSV? Actually 2 of them. On Friday I went to the nursing station for a pinched nerve in my back, and the doctor said to me... you have the vitals of an athlete... bp was 117/75 and resting pulse was 51. Wow... I can't belive that. And to top it all of, on Saturday I ran a 5 k in under 40 mintues... which has been a goal of mine for a while. Just thought I would share. DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alrighty, I am in for the challenge. I had a crazy busy week... some days education can be a tough field!! But anyhow, the scales didn't move this week... but I did (got out most days) so I am happy about that. Hope you are feeling a little better Bluehill. Have a good weekend. April 2006 Bandits' February Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Boo... you ran a 5 km in under 34??? Wow I am seriously impressed. I am sitting around 43 minutes and am having a tough time getting it lower... but maybe with more weight loss I will get there. Wow- you rock Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/196/179 Excersie sessions this month = 19 sessions -
Okay, I will join in on this one. I know I haven't been very active lately... life just keeps happening. I also know that I am horrible for making my goals to small... I think I just keep thinking that I will plateau soon. So... here are my goals for March 1. To get below 190 lbs. 2. To run at least 15 km per week 3. To complete the 5 km I have entered on March 25th Let's hope we all get all our goals!!! Dawn banded April 4th, 2006 Montreal 358/196/179 I run because I can!!!

April 2006 Bandits' February Challenge
DeltaDawn replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! Bluehill I am so glad you are out of the hospital! I hope all goes well. Kat how is your granddaughter? Julie- it sounds like St. Barts was great. I think you are brave for considering the PS. I am not sure I will ever go there... I do not like surgery and am a bad patient!! Sarah, welcome to our group. Yep... just start the exercise slowly. I did in house weights for a month, then I progressed to aerobics, and then to walking/ running. When I began running it was run 1 minute, walk 3 minutes... from there I moved on. So... I have been in montreal for most of last week. I am working with a new consultant (on creating ministry of education exit exam), who I only just met and she is a runner!!! Yipee we had lots to talk about (including my $400 trip to the runnin room- ouch!!) So I finally bit the bullet and registered for my first 5 k. It is March 25th in Montreal. I am hoping I can get my time down to 40 minutes (it seems to be hovering about 43 right now...) But I can run it all without a break and feel good doing it. As well, I was happy because the scale is still moving. Check it out!! Oh... huge NSV... I went shopping and bought a new sweater and pants at THE GAP... no more plus size stores!!!! As well I bought a new bathing suit at Bikini Village... how wierd is all of that!! I hope you guys have a good week. I am staying home today with my kids (I was away for work all weekend). So I am just going to enjoy them today!! Thanks, Dawn Banded April 4, 2006 Montreal 358/ 196/179 (I bet I will want it to be lower) Exercise sessions this month=18 sessions (I hope to get it to 20) -
